I think teachers, parents, staff, and students, as well as community members should attend their district's Board of Education meeting IN PERSON.
If I am sending my child or reporting to work in a school, surely attending a BOE meeting is perfectly fine...right?

You can’t attend ours in person, you know, social distancing and group gathering requirements and all that...

Ha ha.. That's funny. Our BOE meetings are all Zoom. There's no *in person* meeting. It's too dangerous.

I will be attending my board meeting in person tonight as my building president to watch the discussion item of the proposed back to school plan. While the Board members meet virtually from home.Unpack that.

In my area some BOE members attend in person and some remotely. My old district has a huge open area and each board member and the superintendent and secretary are all seated at separate tables. Any others attending are also at separate tables.

For those of you who have virtual meetings, can you organize a bunch of people to stand outside the administration building? Maybe call the news?
Or make sure you are on the speaking list to ask them why they are meeting remotely, but sending kids back soon?

Or make sure you are on the speaking list to ask them why they are meeting remotely, but sending kids back soon? There will be a 'town hall' type meeting in the next couple weeks. The platform hasn't been released but we have been told it will be virtual. DD, who is a teacher, said she received an email from her principal on Friday asking for any questions they have regarding reopening. One of hers is "how is it safe for us to start school when you are meeting virtually"? Their principal said the question submissions are limited to 10 questions each but encouraged them to submit as many times (as many sets of 10 questions) as needed to answer all of their questions.

YES - please people hold the meeting in person. I don't see why not - now is a better time than ever! (All said in a sarcastic tone)
What is so magical that will happen between now and when school starts?! If everything is A ok, have the damn meetings in person. I was just thinking about this earlier today before reading this. Why are the schools still doing "virtual camp", PTO meetings, and other meetings by zoom? Shouldn't they just be in the cafeteria or gym like they were prior to March? They keep assuring is everything will be fine and safe (from behind their computer screens in their homes)
I am so aggravated and stressed.

At our last BOE meeting, which was through Zoom, students/former students hacked in and posted graphic porn. It was very graphic. This board told teachers we were not doing enough Zoom/Meets/Hangouts. We were being lazy. They wouldn’t believe us that there was an issue with teenagers on a live platform. 🤣 I can’t wait wait for this week’s meeting!
