"didn’t deserve to be next to John Lewis at anytime." Less so the other presenter!

John Lewis was an incredible human being. Just absolutely amazing person who always put others above himself. He’s the epitome of selflessness and the changes he was able to make in his lifetime are astounding. He was an unbelievably great human being. We should all aspire to be half of who he was.

I was blessed to meet him and have him sign his autobiography. What a wonderful leader and human being. I am so sad.

What an amazing man and life he lived. This one really hurt me. A lifetime of fighting and he died with the world in its current state. All that work. All those beatings. That bridge should have had a name change a long time ago. The gravity of too little too late seems to be missed on a lot of Americans.
A sad day. Rest in Power Ancestor

My oldest’s high school gave every graduating senior the three-volume boxed set of his March graphic novels.
Best thing we can do for his legacy is get the senate to vote for the voting rights act.

May he rest in peace.
My daughter learned about him some years ago through the show Arthur (cartoon) He would be a guest star which I think was pretty cool and shows a sense of humor or being down to earth. I liked his voice.

An amazing man and a true patriot and hero. When people debate bringing statues down and say things like “well, is there any public figure in history who we could memorialize and was not problematic in some way?” Uh yeah—-John Lewis.

No words from the golfing toddler! President Trump on Saturday ordered flags to fly at half-staff following the death of civil rights icon and longtime congressman Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga). Trump issued a proclamation which stated that the act was “a mark of respect for the memory and longstanding public service” of Lewis, who died on Friday at the age of 80. The flags will fly at half-staff for the remainder of the day all across the world, including at the White House, all public buildings, military posts and stations, U.S. embassies and consular offices abroad, as well as naval vessels. ** Trump has not yet commented publicly on the death of Lewis, with whom he had a contentious relationship throughout his presidency. ** thehill.com/homenews/house/507951-trump-lowers-white-house-flags-to-half-staff-after-lewiss-death

That bridge should have had a name change a long time ago. The gravity of too little too late seems to be missed on a lot of Americans. A sad day. Rest in Power Ancestor Congressman John Lewis was a true American hero and patriot. Truly one of the greats! I fell in love with him one summer evening in Portland, when I got to spend about an hour and a half in a room with him, an interviewer and 500? 700? 1000? others. It was part of the Unitarian Universalist Association's General Assembly in 2015. My friend snagged us seats in the 8th row or so and we had an excellent view of him during his opening remarks and then as he was answering interview questions. All while seated. I was struck by his humility, courage, of course by his powerful story, his dedication and by what a gentle soul he seemed to be. So genuine. So memorable. I'm sad that he's gone, happy that he lived, and impressed by his tenacity after enduring so very much. I believe there is an effort underway to rename the bridge in his honor and memory. I agree, it should have been renamed long ago.
