My daughter used a gift card to buy an item on etsy that ships from Spain. The purchase was on May 29th. Apparently the seller offered tracked delivery but standard was the default shipping and she didn't change it during checkout. It hasn't arrived yet. She has contacted the seller a few times but he's just saying it's not his responsibility. Does anyone know how long international shipping is taking these days? Does she have any recourse through etsy? I've never had trouble with an etsy order so I'm not sure how to have her proceed or whether she should just keep waiting.

The seller is going to need to prove it shipped. I’d file with Etsy right now.

Shipping overseas can take easily that long, pre-pandemic times. Right now shipping is even slower than usual.
I’m still waiting on something that was shipped from California on June 21.

I received packages from 2 different Etsy shops located in England in 10-14 days. These were small items shipped in envelopes.

If it was shipped via the cheapest method possible, it was likely sent by boat. And that can easily take up to 2 months. I’m basing that off shipping to our APO from the States. For us, Priority goes by air and the rest goes by boat. And if comes by boat, it easily takes 2 months.
If you are running out of time to file with Etsy, I’d file. But I wouldn’t accept money until it’s been 9 weeks if it’s an option.

I received fabric shipped from France to the US. Seller said it normally took 2 weeks but with the pandemic disruptions, it would likely take longer. I received a notice the order shipped and received it 4 weeks later.

Some countries have suspended flights to the US--I recently ordered from an etsy shop in I think Singapore... they messaged and gave me the option to cancel or have my items shipped surface. I picked surface, because it'll be nice if they eventually show up.

I bought scrapbook paper from Australia and it took over a month. I bought a puzzle from China and it took over two months to get here. I thought I was scammed and had absolutely written it off when it showed up at my door.

I placed an Etsy order on June 25 from the UK and it arrived yesterday. The last order I placed with Wool Warehouse before they shut down international shipping took 6 weeks to arrive. I'm still waiting on a swimsuit from the UK that I ordered a month ago.

I ordered something on Etsy that was shipped from Belgium to Canada. Shipping took five weeks. It was ridiculous, especially considering that during that same period I ordered something that came from Cairo in less than a week.

I just had to send an Etsy message this very morning for that very thing. My order was placed on a May 27. It’s coming from Latvia. In our first convo, she said it was due to all the “riots” in the US. Here’s the tracking she sent me today:
Tracking History July 20, 2020, 4:41 pm Arrived at USPS Regional Facility PONTIAC MI DISTRIBUTION CENTER Your item arrived at our USPS facility in PONTIAC MI DISTRIBUTION CENTER on July 20, 2020 at 4:41 pm. The item is currently in transit to the destination. June 15, 2020, 12:42 am Processed Through Facility ISC CHICAGO IL (USPS)
Origin Post is Preparing Shipment June 10, 2020, 6:52 pm Processed Through Facility RIGA OFFICE OF EXCHANGE (PARCELS), LATVIA June 1, 2020, 8:50 am Acceptance LATVIA
Why did it take a month and 5 days to get from Chicago to Michigan? Riots? I mean, I kind of believe she sent it. She has all 5 star reviews.
I’ll wait until next week—which will be 2 months, and then file a dispute. (For the record, I have received pkgs from Portugal, the UK, and China since I placed this order.)

People are ordering online for entertainment. They’re bored. Sheer volume. At one point my city had a backlog of 700,000 packages just sitting in trucks.

There is a chance it may have never left Spain, depending on when the seller actually got it in the mail. Scroll down to the very bottom and click Spain for the most current shipping and delivery info for Spain: about.usps.com/newsroom/service-alerts/international/welcome.htmOr if you don't want to click the link, go the the USPS website and the top has a red banner about deliveries. On next page scroll down to International Shipments/ International Service Disruptions. Click that and then find Spain for the most up to date info given to USPS from Spain. She can open a dispute on Etsy and the seller will need to prove they shipped it, even if your daughter didn't purchase tracking. You'll at least know if it was actually shipped. I will say that International deliveries are VERY backed up at US customs right now and if there was also a hold-up on getting out of Spain, it's an even longer time. Due to so few flights right now across the world, a lot of International deliveries are being boated which might as well be Pony Express.

I ordered from Japan on Etsy on April 23rd and just got it the other day. I also ordered from England on April 27th and haven't gotten it yet.
On the other hand, I ordered a small package from England on June 3rd and got that maybe 2-3 weeks ago?
I think it is just REALLY slow right now.

I ordered a puzzle and it shipped the beginning of May. I just received it Saturday 7-18. I would give it another month but I also would be asking for tracking info. Mine came via the Post Office and they were able to tell me when it got to a U.S. Post Office.

Why did it take a month and 5 days to get from Chicago to Michigan? I had something sitting in my local post office for three weeks. I opened a conversation with the vendor when it was a month overdue, assuming it was lost or damaged/undeliverable. She sent the tracking information so I know it took a week to move across the country and then sat at my local post office for three weeks. I don't know if her inquiry prompted the delivery, but she asked me to wait one more week before she would send another one and it showed up a day later.

Three times the package got back on track the next day.

But I've had a lot of regular things just kind of get stuck in Chicago. I just had a priority package take 9 days to go from Northern Illinois to Southern Wisconsin. SO said that the postmaster general has ordered NO OVERTIME, so backlogs will probably continue for the forseeable future.

I ordered something from Australia at the end of March that hasn’t arrived. The response I’ve received from the seller (twice) is pretty much ‘too bad, so sad, not my problem’. If it ever gets here I’ll be surprised but you can bet I’ll never give her another cent.

The seller is going to need to prove it shipped. I’d file with Etsy right now. This. I'd ask for some sort of tracking number. I ran into this a couple months ago. Seller kept telling me it was shipped but couldn't provide a tracking number. I filed w/ Etsy, the item never showed.

All the reseller message boards are complaining about the Chicago hub right now. Apparently they’ve had a perfect storm of regular issues, mechanical problems, personnel problems, and coronavirus shutdowns. Anything USPS going through there is either just disappearing or taking a ridiculously long time.

In the past 8 months, I have had two packages shipped TO me from the Czech Republic that went "missing." Both times, I submitted a missing mail search request with USPS (#3 in link). These packages DID have tracking and within two or three days of submitting request, both started moving and made their way to me within a week. One had never left Czech Republic and the other I suspect was sitting in US customs, although there was never a record of it having arrived to them, been processed by them, or leaving there. Even if there is not tracking, I think USPS will try to find the package despite it having been shipped FROM outside of the US. www.usps.com/help/missing-mail.htmThat said, it IS the seller's responsibility to get the item to the buyer and if necessary, provide proof of delivery.

If it were me, I would confirm that it is etsy's policy that the seller must provide tracking. If the seller is required to provide tracking and the seller can't provide tracking, I would report him immediately. Why allow him to continue in business and possibly rip off more people? It's quite possible that the seller did mail the items and that it is taking longer for the item to arrive due to covid, but the seller was the one who didn't follow the rules, so he should bear the consequences of his actions. You can always w/draw your complaint if/when the item arrives. He should have done things the right way in the beginning.

She finally got her pkg today. I told her on the 28th (2 months after the order) to go ahead and file but she kept forgetting. The item she ordered was an acrylic key chain and it was shipped in a padded envelope with no additional padding. She took it out of the envelope and the hardware part broke right off the decorative part. It had to have been cracked or stressed already because she's very careful with things.

If it ever gets here I’ll be surprised but you can bet I’ll never give her another cent. I ordered from Australia on May 31 and it got to me July 13. Other people are still waiting from earlier. You can't really blame the person. Things are crazy right now. It's taking weeks longer than normal. If you didn't purchase tracking (I didn't either because it was an additional $20), then there truly is no tracking.
