I'm working on my thematic Yuletide album on this sunny (but oh so cold!) Sunday afternoon and it's bliss. Did I just slip right back into my beloved 4x4 format after trying on 4x6 (then 4x5)? Yep, I did. My trimmer's getting a workout but oh, it feels so nice now. Five spreads done so far. Minimalist af. *chef's kiss* I don't know why thematic December albums aren't a thing yet because they're so much fun. TWO sleeps to go, ladies! Is everyone ready for December? Got your Christmas spirit? How's the prepping going for those who like to get a bit of a head start? I don't even know what a 'thematic' album is. Help ya girl out.

My bad, I just came up with the idea adapting a travel mini album Jamaica had a class for on BPC a few years ago. Instead of doing travel themes like hotel, food, exploring the city and such, I went ahead and made dividers for: Home, Away (anything outside since I don't have any outside space and there isn't any travelling happening this year), Play (movies, series, music, books), Celebrate and Details (50% of which will be memes, I'm sure ). It's super fun!

PSA: If you like Gryffin's new song Safe With Me that is very fitting for (and inspired by) this mess of a pandemic year, Gryffin is offering the acappella and instrumental versions for free on Dropbox so young artists can remix the song at leisure (see OG download share here). If you superpose both tracks in your video-editing software, you'll get the beautiful original song again. Just wanted to share this little free gem in case anyone in here was thinking of doing a short yearly recap/December video. Of course, copyrights still apply and you can't use these tracks for monetised content. But the song is truly a good mix of uplifting beats with 2020 lyrics.

Shoutout to joblackford once again. We had a zoom holiday movie bingo date (kid-friendly). We watched Cinderella Wish on Netflix and it was so much fun. I highly recommend this. No one got BINGO but it was still a blast. I hosted the Zoom and shared my screen playing it on Netflix. We chatted through the movie and called out whenever we marked off a square. I do have the zoom through my work so I did not have a 40 minute limit. Something to consider.

I’m glad you had so much fun (even if no one won) and that the cards work ok with non-Hallmark movies.

joblackford DH & I are enjoying using your cards, too! We only printed out one sheet each & are using one card, but it's been so much fun! We are SO close to Bingo, even after 3 movies. The kids keep coming downstairs to ask us why we're yelling about "WHERE IS THE GINGERBREAD?!" "Is that an angel on the tree?!" Thank you for these, they're making our movies more fun.

It warms my black heart to see so many embrace joblackford's amazing Christmas rom-com movie cards! We love these and have to keep each other from cheating (trying to pick a bingo card that would suit the movie we're about to watch instead of actually *randomly* grabbing one). This is the year they become a DD classic, yeah! dawnnikol You guys are playing bingo court, too? "That's an angel tee tropper in the background, I swear, rewind it 10 seconds... There, THERE! SEE!"

dawnnikol You guys are playing bingo court, too? "That's an angel tee tropper in the background, I swear, rewind it 10 seconds... There, THERE! SEE!" I did not think anyone could be SO upset about there NOT being an angel on the tree until these past few nights. We've watched "Hitched for the Holidays", "Five Star Christmas", and then "The Christmas Secret" last night. He finally found his angel last night. I'm glad DH's whoops of joy did not wake up our DS. :X We've decided to swap to another card on our sheet tonight to shake it up a bit. You might hear him yell all the way in France if he wins.. lol.

THE DAY BEFORE DECEMBER, everyone, this is it... Eep, time to break out the Christmas jammies and hang up the fake mistletoe if you haven't yet! Sharing some of the spreads from my Yuletide mini's Play section to celebrate the imminent beginning of our favourite month. Don't mind the unpunched pages; I only punch when I've finished and stuck down both A and B-sides of a page. Still need to run a stitch through the "Holidate" movie title next time I go visit my mother (masked up, ventilating and keeping a safe distance, no worries): The new Goo Goo Dolls Christmas album and the delightful You Ain't Getting Nothin' song lyrics: My favourite US podcasters united to do a livestream to raise funds for the Georgia senate race and I laughed my buttocks off (the paper hinges are to reinforce the fragile vellum): My very favourite 2020 Christmas album and some special mentions (I went ahead and assumed I'd love the Tori Amos EP although I only got a preview of 2 songs but Better Angels is now publicly available - ya better deliver, Tori!): And since we're staying at home, just the two of us, this year, I decided I could already make my forever favourite movies to watch on December 24 spread for my 2020 album since only an unexpected power outage or serious medical issue (vade retro coronavirus) would stop me:

I'm rooting for him! Wake us up, Monsieur Dawn! There's also the one-bingo-card-for-2 gameplay if you want to make it extra competitive: you each play with a different-coloured pen and it's a game of speed... Whoever spots it first and can check it off the grid gets a point. At the end of the movie, you tally it all up. We call it the Jungle Speed ( game like Slapjack) of Christmas movies. It can get very intense in this version of the bingo card game. You need to set rules and stick down the bingo card on the coffee table with washi tape or something. The funniest part is when both of us have spotted the thing and are just trying to find the right spot on the grid to check it off: headbutts and giggles!

Okay, so i don't prep pages, because I do them in January when I get the photos printed.
I do have a 12x12 envelope of cut apart sheets, pattern paper, and embellishments all kitted up though.
I am keeping a list of holiday things we do to include in my layouts. So far we have:
Painted little houses & made a snowy village for the window.
Virtual Santa photos
Macy's SantaLand virtual experience (and another Santa photo)
Made graham cracker gingerbread houses.
(My holiday pages don't have to happen in December only.)

Love your pages, 'Booty! I have never seen In Bruges, I really need to rectify that.
I am not ready for DD! I have a title page, but I need to edit my letter to the kids (I do that instead of a reason why) and make that into a nice page. I have NO foundation pages. I've not even put random cards into pocket pages, but I'm cool with that, I didn't do that last year and my album became my favourite and most crafty yet.
I have nothing booked for December. We don't normally have a ton of things to do over December, but there's nothing. It's weird, but as my 9 year old said to me last night (for she is wise), we should embrace this month because it's going to be so different to other Decembers, lets enjoy the quiet.
Here's something for you - a version of poet Liz Berry's Christmas Eve, its beautiful:

DH and I will be alone for Christmas this year as neither of our sons can come home (nor should they). DH was struggling so I convinced him we could do journal your Christmas as a way to find joy. So this will be joint project, at least the journalling part. Should be interesting.

Team no-prep here 🙋🏻♀️ Just flying by the seat of my pants as usual. The best I can muster is gathering up supplies I think I will use and making a master list of things to remember to include and prompt me when the time comes. I am up to date on PL and ready to tackle this... I think 🤷🏻♀️ It is snowing here today for the first time and I put on my snazzy new “joy” sweatshirt I bought for myself so hopefully I can at least fake it ‘til I make it this season. Hopefully that damn elf brings my holiday spirit with him tonight.

So I don't really prep any pages in advance. I made a pocket and cut down a page of 2X2 squares to fit into the 3X8 format. But I started making pages already. I did Day 1 of the outside lights and Day 2 of getting the tree. Day 3 will be about the Christmas tree my mom made in the 1970s and gave to me a couple of years ago. It is so important to me. They are all the rage right now and I'm happy to have an OG. Here is a link to Day 1 and more of the calendar that I made. I'm not sure if I posted it or not.

I love your DD album sleepingbooty although it has me a little jealous that you have completed pages already. As usual, I am teetering on the edge of stressing out. I don't prepare my DD, other than make a title page and organize my supplies, but then when Dec 1st comes around, I stress that I am already behind. I am trying to set those concerns aside this year and just do my own thing....anyways, I digress. I am lifting your vellum strengthening idea! I love the pop of color.

Guys, I’m freaking out a bit. Tomorrow is December 1. I have zip, zilch, zero ready for DD. Not even the title page. I’m not a foundation page person but typically I will have the title, reason why and a family pic ready to go. I watch lots of walk throughs, jot down notes on ideas. Haven’t gone anything. Eyeball deep in home projects and November got away from me. I’m doing a 3x8 album though. It will be fine, totally fine. Right?

I’ve literally made a small title page and barely prepped one page. I’ve been working 7 days a week since September. My free time has been limited. I still really want to do this project as it give me some sort of creative outlet. I’m using a citrus twist album. I’m hoping to print most pictures on my SELPHY . Maybe an occasional PP sized photo on my regular printer. We’ve got this!

The best I did was a brain dump of things to be sure and document and throwing what I bought and my leftovers into a basket. Since 2020 has been a complete chaotic shit show, this isn’t stressing me out. I figure we will be home bound for most of the month and I have plenty of time to figure it out as I go. One day at a time... we can do it!

I should resurrect it for this kind of project.
I saw this and thought it was appropriate. A unlucky in love atheist after she came home to spend time appreciating what she so quickly tried to run away from. Against her better judgement she falls in love with the son of a sailor man. Hopefully that damn elf brings my holiday spirit with him tonight. You know he could get exposed to covid and have to quarantine for 14 days.

My Hallmark story is about an unlucky in love librarian returning home to foreclose on a small country inn. Against her better judgment she falls in love with a centaur and learns the true meaning of Christmas. oh my. lol. I'm so enjoying hearing all your stories about the bingo cards. I definitely have to record some of them in my journal. You're making my heart happy. My husband was willing to watch The Christmas Waltz (Lacey Chabert) the other night if I wanted to (I didn't really) but when I suggested we could make it fun by playing bingo he vehemently refused. sigh. We watched some Derry Girls instead. Prepping: I spent a small fortune on IACB holiday digitals today, set myself up a new evening routine that I hope will give me some dedicated time for Journal Your Christmas, tidied away almost all of the junk-to-sell into the basement so I have some space to think, put all of my past Xmas albums on a nice decluttered shelf, and got out my CD kit. I love your pages sleepingbooty !
