Happy Wednesday, Pokeys!
I have been playing in my scraproom today: put a couple of pages together and cut some pieces for a bunch of cards I need to make. I plan to do slimline cards for September birthdays, and have selected and cut some fall papers. Perfect day for it. Cool morning after last night's rain, and it FEELS like fall... I have also stamped some gnomes I plan to colour and use on the cards. But that is as far as I got today.
The haying is finished, and to celebrate we are having a small family dinner on the deck tonight. I have a chicken pulled out of the freezer to roast, and I need to get out to the garden to dig some potatoes and gather some veggies. Dh's sister is making a Ukrainian dish their mother used to make about this time of year. There is lots of cream involved, but I am keeping it separate so I can enjoy the meal without causing an uproar in my innards.
Gotta go. Have a great day!

Hi friends! You all will not even believe this: yesterday I got all of my photos printed and inside their pockets for the month of March in my PL album!! What?! I am quite in disbelief myself! I was finally REALLY, REALLY ready to do it. For real! I’m so proud of myself. Since I’m so far behind, I’m not going to do much embellishing.... I don’t think. I need to type up a journaling page for the month and I’m moving on to printing April later today. I had quite a bit of photos for March! What a crazy month it was. Cheers to making progress! Be back soon with an April update Have a great rest of your week!

grammadee Bad gall bladders HATE cream - ask me how I know ;-) I can second that comment. Ask me how I know janesays, congrats on getting through March photos. You are on a roll. I've love to see your pages. We had some short bips of no internet again today, but I saw a Comcast truck parked on a street behind us most of the day. I think they are replacing a main line. I'm counting on Cousin Camp Sunday night and won't be a happy camper if we have to postpone again. The kids all start school again on Monday. I haven't scrapped today, but I have gone through some papers picking out what I want to use with certain photos. After my dental appt tomorrow I hope to scrap, scrap scrap! grammadee, your dinner sounds delicious. Have an enjoyable evening. I'm glad you have all the hay in.

Thanks justjac ! You're right to not let going back to work overshadow the time you have left. I so so badly want a couple weeks off. I haven't taken 2 weeks together ever I don't think. But I could sure use it! nylene did they get your Internet figured out? I can do without a lot of things, but not having the Internet drives me bonkers! Keeping my fingers crossed for Cousin Camp! grammadee your deck dinner sounds wonderful! Peaceful. We've had a cooler summer than usual. Still humid though. I'm really looking forward to Fall. gramma I haven't gotten to the gallery or sharing thread yet, but I want to say again how gorgeous that wedding album is! It's just gorgeous! @janessays good for you! Sounds like you have a plan of attack that's working! I need one too lol. kitbop how are things going for you at work? Are you still super busy too? I know I'm looking forward to cooler weather but I hope it stays summer in Canada for you! LisaDV thinking of you! I miss you around here!

Happy Thursday! Wishing you all a good day! I am moving slow but I am moving. The exercise I've been doing is helping me and I lost an inch from my tummy!!! So that is definitely motivating me. I started a new mini album last night and I hope to continue it today. Also, I ordered HS new pp collection and one of her older ones. Can't wait to get it. Oh, also my three gatefold cards were in the gallery's "featured" section twice this week on Scrapbook dot com!!! nylene - Praying your internet is stable for your Cousin's Camp! I will be disappointed like the kids if it is postponed again! LOL! That stork card you made is so adorable!!!! janesays - Hooray!!! So happy to hear you got your pocket page done. Excited to see ya! grammadee - How was your family dinner? joyfulnana - Feel free to join the exercise party if and when you are ready! I hope to keep the thread going for a while.

Awww, Linda. House hunting is frustrating. Especially after the rush of thinking that first house was the ONE. Are you also working on selling your current home? Keeping a home show ready is a downer, as well. Hopefully it will all work out so you find the perfect home for your family. Come on Comcast! Get that Cousin Camp on line this week! People are depending on you! nylene can you get the parents to do photos of the kids huddled around their screens, and photos of them with their projects? And maybe some screen shots of photos with a phone of the screens as they chat with you? Those would make great scrapbook pages, and then you can relive Cousin Camp for weeks while you lovingly assemble the pages. Congrats, kellyr21, on the recognition for your cards! You are making so many lovely things these days! Thankyou for asking about our dinner. It was pretty calm, with only 5 adults all together, all tired from the fall work. But dh and his sister were particularly happy b/c they got to eat a meal much like the one their mother would have made. Only hers would have featured a chicken she had butchered, plucked and cleaned that morning... I ate maybe half a teaspoon of warm cream with chopped onions poured onto fresh bread. Mmmmm... so good. And I got away with it. joyfulnana, I whine and complain enough about our long winters, but I don't think I would be a happy camper where temps and humidity are high for extended periods. For me, a perfect outdoor temperature is about 20-25C, which is 70-80F. And this country gal likes the air to be DRY. Okay, a quick note on our planned weekend. Monday is our anniversary and dh is itching to "get out of here" for a bit. He has been working with family and neighbours on building fences and harvesting hay, but has had very little social time. I get the mail and groceries and parts and other necessities. Anyway, we now have a plan to get out of here for a couple of days. Dd is on here way here and will stay until Monday looking after the garden and the dogs. We will leave Saturday afternoon and drive to Saskatoon (4 hours)where we will stay in a hotel 2 nights. On Sunday we will drive from there out to the lake at the east side of that province (3+ hours)to visit with our ddil and her little guys who are staying at HER parents' cabin by a lake. Then that evening, we drive back to Saskatoon to the hotel, and Monday we will drive home from there. And I think that if I drive for 14-15 hours in 3 days, I will have earned the right to stop on the way home to print the photos you know I am going to take while we are with family! Okay. Gotta go do some things before the little house sitter and his puppy get here... Have a wonderful weekend!

kellyr21, I got a note from a friend on scrapbook.com and while I was there I checked the featured layouts. Your Expo layout was there! You are getting all kinds of notoriety! How exciting. It's hot here too. We are expecting 101-105 next week. THat's really hotter than our usual Aug temps. I'll take your advice and stay in and stay cool. I'll check out your video tonight. grammadee, I am so glad you are getting away and that the "cream" in your dinner didn't upset your gallbladder. I hope you and DH have a great Anniversary trip and that it's cool and relaxing at the cabin and hotel. joyfulnana, I'll eventually get over to the Team thread. I forget to check it but will try to be better. I doubt if I will be in either Hangout this weekend because of preparations for Cousin Camp. I am counting on having dependable internet! Will you get to see Rudy this weekend? Linda, I am sorry that your mojo has taken a leave of absence. I'm sure it's hard to get ready for "at home" schooling and also look for a home? I was wondering if your home is on the market too? That would add lots of stress, I'm sure. Take a break and I'm sure your desire to create will return when you don't have so many other things on your mind. Did your area get any of that big storm? janesays, do you print your photos at home? What size pocket pages do you make? gramma, how did the big reveal of the Wedding Album go? I hope she was as thrilled as all the peas have been. Our internet, phone and TV were all off again last evening. I called again (14th call) and was told they were working on the line. So far today there haven't been any blips on and off. I know I have lost several messages here during the past week, that I thought had posted. I do genealogy indexing and have lost several whole sheets of names because it went off mid form. I hope they plan to take those days off our bill for this month. We are all looking forward to Cousin Camp on Sunday night so I am hoping for a strong internet signal.

grammadee - enjoy your time away! kellyr21 - another video - you are doing an awesome job and I'm glad more people are seeing your work! nylene - fingers crossed for cousin camp! Our home isn't on the market which is a blessing - we'll sell it if and when we buy a new one. I have no plans to live in a house that's on the market - not with kids and cats and all our stuff.

Happy Saturday! I enjoyed Google Hangouts with Liz and Jac today. msliz did a great job hosting us all these weeks and it sure helped make this tough time a little lighter. Here is a new lo I did. I scraplifted it from page I saw on Scrapbook dot com. I wanted to try a monochromatic style and it was hard. LOL! I was tempted to add color but resisted. I love how it turned out. I will post more pictures and let you know where they are. Probably my blog since I have several good shots. Monochromatic in White LO by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr nylene - I hope your internet is holding up!!! Yes, thanks for telling me about my lo on Scrapbookdot com!!! I went over and saw it was there through out today! So exciting! Waving hello to you all and have a super rest of your weekend!

Hi my Pokey Pea Friends! I think I am really back in business here again. We have had 24 hours of no interruptions in our internet, phone and TV services. I don't know if any of you have ever seen the episode of Dr. Phil where the woman becomes so angry at Comcast that she takes a hammer to the store and beats their phone on the counter to death. She said if she didn't have phone, they weren't going to have phone either. Well, when ours went out again night before last I went to get the hammer! Steve thought it was pretty funny. Tonight is our Zoom Cousin Camp and I can hardly wait. I have seen one Genius Creation and photos of 2 others. I have moms taking photos of the process and the finished Creation. They are on board to get some "huddled around the screen" photos tonight. I hope everything goes smoothly. I think all the talent has been filmed and Angie is going to take care of that part of the evening. kellyr21 , that layout of your DMIL is gorgeous. I love the embossing folder and tiny silver flecks. What did you use for those? If you post this on scrapbook dot com it will be on the Featured page for sure. LisaDV , I miss seeing you pop up. I hope things are looking up for you. Hugs and prayers. grammadee , have a great getaway! joyfulnana , I wish you could hop in one of the RV's and take off for an getaway and adventure with Rudy. You would both love that. Is he going back to school soon? Gotta run. BBL

Last night, 60 minutes before Cousin Camp was scheduled, the TV went off. I ran for my computer and DH ran to the phone. Both were working so it was just the TV station. I was ready to go get my hammer again! The Zoom get-together was really fun. I was amazed at the creations of the grands. Three of them had made some kind of boat, the others were all different. It took them a few minutes to get comfortable but once we played a couple of games they really opened up and there was lots of laughter and silliness. They each named their creation, showed it and explained what they used from the kit. The talent show was lots of fun. There were more creative talents instead of the usual musical instruments. We had magic tricks, fitness workouts, dance moves, chalk art, a stop motion video and skate board tricks . They all voted to do this again. (we didn't poll the moms, LOL) The moms have promised me lots of photos, so I look forward to scrapping this. I have not done a lot of scrapping this month but hope to get going now that I can keep my compter working. Here are a couple of sets of cards I have done from the Sheetload Card Challenge and 2 layouts. Zebra Birthday Sailboat Sheetload cards Graduation Day Pool Fun by Nylene Budge, on Flickr

That sounds wonderful, nylene! Glad you got to pull this off. You are a VERY modern Gramma! I am home with photos in hand. Hope to scrap on Tuesday if it doesn’t take all day for Telus and/or Bestbuy Geek Squad to figure out how to get Dh’s email on his computer working properly. I have a question for you. I want to put together my August calendar page. Which photo should I use? This one of the little guys having a blast in the lake Or this one of us with the boys?

Happy Tuesday!!! I is another HOT one so I will be staying in until later. We had a black out last Friday and I hope we don't have another one. But we are having "rolling blackouts" so I did see you can get a text message in advance of one coming. I made another mini album and working on new layouts. This weeks video will be product reviews and what I made with them. The last videos with my 6 fav quarantine craft buys was very popular. So I thought I would do a similar one this week. nylene - SO glad your camp was a BIG success! Such a great idea and so glad it all turned out fantastic! grammadee - Oh, I love both pictures! I love your hats, too. Very stylish! Glad you are back safely, too. Waving hello to everyone and I hope you are having a good day.

So I decided to go with the photo that included us on the calendar page. August 2021 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr I have lots of splashy photos, and I want to play with splashing mixed media on some pages so I can use those on at least a double page spread for my summer album. I chose to play with the birthday photos first b/c the kit I picked up yesterday had a cool diecut I thought would work perfectly with the feature photo. Pulled out my trusty Cocoa Vanilla Boys Rule and Legendary, and my TH oxides, so these pages went together really quickly It's my CELEBRATE! by Gramma Dee, on Flickr I loved how he called Sunday his "CELEBRATE" b/c he knew it wasn't REALLY his birthday for a few days. But he was excited to have us there for the day, too, and happy to share the birthday excitement with us!

grammadee, you made a great choice! That photo is precious and will be important to the boys many years from now. So Sweet! I'll leave love in the gallery. I love his "Celebrate" day. kellyr21, I understand about your heat. It is 103 here today. I have spent most of the day in the car. DH had a medical appt and I couldn't go in. I polluted the air, but ran the AC in the car part of the time. I am so happy to see you enjoying crafting and posting. I love your work and it's obvious that others do too. I hope you won't have to be blacked out often. Angie had a bunch of black outs last summer when the wildfires were raging. I'm glad you get some notice ahead of time.

Linda I'm sorry things aren't going well. I haven't done much outside of work, so nothing to share either. I hope the house hunting turns up something you love soon. grammadee Happy Anniversary! I just LOVE that photo of the 4 of you! It would have been my vote for the calendar. And that puppy is soooo cute! I love dogs. nylene I can't wait to see your pages about cousins camp!! It's my favorite thing you scrap! I'm go glad you got to see everyone even though there couldn't be hugs. I've talked with mom on hangouts a few times over the past months and it makes a big difference. I miss your Alex stories though, so I hope we can back to more normal soon. I'm still working a lot of overtime and we still have part of my department out in the shop building hitches. The backlog of orders is huge. This has been the biggest year for the RV industry since the crash in 2008. And while it is tiring, I hope this trend holds. Well it could back down a little bit, so that it's not so overwhelming lol. Rudy and I had a sleep over last Friday night. I puttered around with my scrap stuff while he was hanging out playing on the tablet. Then we had a movie (Frosty) and he ate popcorn and drank hot cocoa until his belly hurt lol. It was one of the best nights with him. His parents opted to homeschool him this year, waiting for things to hopefully be better next year. He's been doing school work all summer though. They tried to keep his routine as close as possible to the one he had at preschool. I hope you all are having a great week! Looks like it's time for me to think about going to work already lol.

Good Thursday morning, Pokeys. Today is borscht day! We dug our beets last night and they have been sitting in water to soak off the garden dirt. This morning I need to get them out of the tub and into my vehicle and drive them to my sister in law's farm where we will turn them into soup and pickles. Sounds like a wonderful sleepover, joyfulnana. Glad they have the schooling figured out. If he is in home schooling, there will be lots of sleep overs to come. Dd has been scrambling, trying to find the best option for her little guy, and she seems to have found the perfect solution. The Ninja Fit gym has set up a classroom for up to 30 students (same students in each cohort). They have hired 3 qualified teachers to help kids with their work, and the gym has both scheduled and unscheduled time for the kids to get physical activity on sanitized equipment. And the school dgs attended last year has moved him from in-person to on-line. So his classes will be coming from "his" school, with help from the strategies instructor, and he will be going to Ninja Fit 3 days a week. The other 2, he will be doing home schooling with Mom at their house. That way, he gets to be part of a group (multi grade levels), get physical activity and help, and she can focus on her own schooling while he is at the gym. Win-win. Okay. Off to rinse beets!

I'm so far behind on commenting...I did scroll back and read and admire the layouts, cards and photos grammadee and nyleneI had a dr appt this week - had some pre-cancer frozen off my back and blood work (results are in - I need to work on eating better) and the doctor added an anti-depressant to my med cocktail so hopefully that'll help also. We did a drive-thru orientation for DD13 at the middle school today - picked up the welcome packet, her schedule (she didn't get her first choice electives but is thankfully not too upset), and her books/log-in codes for virtual schooling. Her Civics teacher from last year had popped a small gift and note in her book bag - it was a NASA cup. The teacher had had a NASA friend come in and speak with the class last year and DD is ALL about NASA and space and wore her NASA shirt that day and had lots of questions. Apparently the friend had given the teacher the cup and the teacher had planned to give it to DD at the end of school but of course we went virtual after spring break. So she put it in her book bag with an encouraging note and that explanation. DD was thrilled! Both girls start classes on Monday - I have one table set up in the family room backing on to my computer desk (for DD13) and one table set up in the spare room (for DD20). They both do better when they have a designated school space away from the fun desk. And DD20 learnt in the spring that she needs less distractions and the dining room table wasn't ideal for her (hence she has a spot with a door she can close). DD13 I still like to keep an eye on. Hi to all

Linda, I hope the new meds help. All our nation is experiencing right now adds to the depression people are feeling. Hang in there. Hugs to you and best wishes for finding the perfect home. It sounds like school is starting out well for your girls and that you are very organized. It's always nice when children are eager to return to school, even if it is online or partially online. That's cool about the NASA cup. What a caring teacher. gramma, our DD sent a text of the areas that are in the evacuation zone. It looked like you were right in the middle of that. Are you OK and is your home ok? I'm sure you are eating a lot of smoke! joyfulnana, Rudy's parents were smart to keep the studying going through the summer. It's going to be very hard for children who didn't engage the last 3 months of school and have done nothing since. I think they are smart to home school him. I am glad I am not the one making decisions for children returning. I have anxiety over the virus. grammadee, your little guy's schedule sounds wonderful for him. He will have time to work off some of that energy and still be able to have instruction and help when needed. It's the best of both worlds. Alex had such a bad year last year. He cried every day and thought his teacher didn't like him. (1st grade) She had no warmth in her voice, her actions, or her relationship with the kids. Em and I helped with all the PTA parties in her room and I couldn't believe how aloof she was. She also did a lot of yelling at the kids. I dreaded his return to school this fall. He cried all morning before school and was sure he was too sick to go. His Dad took him and when the Principal saw them, he welcomed him by name and took his hand and said, "Let's go lead the kids to class." He came home from school ecstatic. He loved it, loved his teacher, loved everything and wanted to go back right then. That's an answer to lots of prayers offered for him. His teacher from last year is still teaching. She should find another profession. I understand that several children were traumatized in her class last year. kellyr21, I hope you are not blacked-out too often. Angie lives in a zone close to a big hospital, govt. offices, and other vital resources and they haven't blacked out her grid at all. She thinks she will be ok, but the smoke is really bad. I'm sure it's even worse near you and gramma. Hang in there, all you pokeys. These are strange times.

Good Friday morning, Pokeys. I am hoping to play with paper today. Yesterday we turned 15 gallons of beets and a bunch of other veggies into a "canner" full of borscht, plus 33 pints of beet pickles. We had some of the soup--along with some of my dsil's homemade buns--for supper and it was delicious. This weekend, I will be spending alot of time on line with the Scrap Smarter Experience. Lots of different classes and activities. Not sure if I will get anything accomplished, but I hope to at least try some of the techniques. And then if I need further help when finishing pages or cards later, there is a replay option for the step-by-seps. I hope your new meds help, Linda. So hard to tell if feeling down and unmotivated has an internal or external source. Being cooped up at home with people everywhere you look, not being able to do the things you enjoy doing when you want to do them, worrying about everyone and trying to keep a family safe are all triggers for anxiety and depression. Plus you are still going through the first year after losing your mum. No wonder you are feeling down. Another big trigger for my dd is not having a clear path ahead of her, and I can see that playing out with your house hunting and having a potential move on the horizon. I really hope that works out soon and you can feel settled again. I can hardly wait to see your cousin camp pages, nylene! So glad the kids had a blast and want to do this again! You creative, resilient grandparents have some very creative resilient grandkids! So happy that Alex is settled into school so much more happily this year. Another one of my dgk's had a teacher like that last year as well--why do people with no imagination teach grade ones? I think what saved the whole experience for him was the fact that the rest of the staff in the school really loved him, and made that very clear to him, welcoming him when he arrived, smiling whenever they saw him. Hoping that when he goes back in a couple of weeks that he will have a teacher that "gets" him. gramma I hope you are safe up there in northern California! Some days it really feels like we are living in biblical times. Makes me want to run out and buy locust netting and a boat! janesays I love those times when everything goes together and pages just seem to fly into my books. Don't experience those times very often, but I love when they happen. Can you show us some of your pages? Would love to see. I don't do much pocket scrapbooking, but enjoy seeing what others do. There is a new thread on the General Scrapbooking board about getting back into scrapbooking, and the pea was looking for ideas of where to start gathering ideas for pocket pages, so I am thinking that will become a great place to share ideas and learn new ones! Hang in there through the heat, kellyr21 and nylene. I can't even imagine those temps. It is cool and raining here this morning. LisaDV, I hope you have time to check in. I miss hearing from you. Hope you are all okay.

We are good here. Seems that we are surrounded by fires - - again. This time close enough that in addition to smoky skies you can really smell the smoke. If you look outside it looks like the temperature should be in the 60's not the 105 to 113 we've had over the last week.
Covid seems to be loosening its grip just a bit in our area. I hope that trend continues. It seems like our leadership has thrown their hands in the air with a "well it's Covid you know. We have to close every thing except essentials and hunker down" attitude. We are a smart, creative, can do country. It seems to me that the current political in-fighting has had huge consequences for our country. The answer seems to be to throw money at the problem. I don't believe that we will work our way out of this financial pit in my lifetime.
So - enough of that!! I think I'll go work on a sketch for Sketchtember.

Happy weekend, all! I will be signing on to the Scrap Happy Scrap Smarter Experience for most of the weekend. Not alot of crafting on my part, i don't think, but hoping I will get lots of inspiration and techniques to try. I already like a couple of the project samples they have posted for registrants, so if I get nothing else out of this, I am thinking I have a couple of cool pages to lift! Oh, and msliz, my Simon Says gnmome dies arrived today! I broke down and ordered the regular sized one and the card sized one on sale when I realized the gnomes were back in stock. Yay! More gnomies to play with...

my motivation is awol, my mood is blah Ah Linda, I feel ya. I've struggled with anxiety before, but never this - well, depressed! - feeling. If I have a TASK I can get it done. But there is not much joy in it. We just came back from camping and it was a successful trip. But for me, it lacked that "bright" feeling. I'm watching more netflix etc. than ever before because it's easy. I have barely been scrapping. Everything feels heavy and effortful, even good stuff. I have a ton of support and can focus on being grateful, and I'm sure I will get through this. I try to look at the small accomplishments and ignore the big picture. But I hate being this way! I'm sorry the house hunt has been unsuccessful so far. kellyr21 and gramma - thinking of you in the fire-y West. There are fires near my MIL too - she's straight north from you, near the border with the US, in BC. Same arid climate...just chillier in the winter gramma - I finally got my envelope from you!!! Thank you so much - they will get used for sure!!! grammadee - enjoy your scrap event! Wish I could be there. The Ninja fit gym sounds like a really fun/effective environment for elementary kids. Especially if this extends into the winter! My garden has been a bit of a bust. We got 3 zucchini before some weird yellow beetle killed the plants. My tomatoes are just starting to ripen, and the cucumbers have been too dry while we were away so they aren't happy with me. I've never tried beets - we're not beety people How many years have you been married? Our 25th was Aug. 19. We did NOTHING. No presents, no cards. No dinner out. (we had just got home from camping that day and were a wee bit tired). In theory, we're going to celebrate "later". nylene - bad teachers. Sometimes they happen in a pivotal/crucial year and can just RUIN a kid! Why teach if you are like that??? My youngest, age 4, junior kindergarten: sent home from school for pretending to be a tiger under a table and roared at the teacher and pretended - PRETENDED - to lunge at her leg. Age 4. Sent home in disgrace. For pretending. to be a tiger. God forbid. joyfulnana - if my kids were little, I would opt to homeschool (if possible) as well. I'm pretty sure I can't teach my DD her grade 12 physics, chemistry and math however She'll be in school half-time, and online half-time, so decrease the school population. Sounds OK to me. But who really knows??? Linda - we need to get her a better school space organized because she too struggles with distractions.

kitbop and Linda, I am so sorry you are feeling so down. It is really sad when the joy is sucked out of activities that normally fill you with happiness and peace. Happy belated anniversary, kitbop. I hope you find a way to celebrate. gramma, I don't remember if I thanked you for my package of diecuts. Hoping to get them on a page before too long... I think that this whole "thing" plays even more havoc with my memory than has been done by time. It seems that we are on an ocean with no buoys or markers, and time and events just get away on me. Don't remember what I have to do, or what I have done. Just keep swimming... Gotta go play now on Scrap Smart Experience. TTYL
