Has anyone noticed very long delivery times with USPS lately? I could understand if this was a few months ago but just within July-current it's been crazy slow for me.
For example, my work still gives us paper paystubs. They mailed mine July 9th. I received it July 24th. The place it was mailed from is only thirty minutes from my mailing address. I also have two tracking numbers for packages I'm waiting for that were shipped 7/6 and I still don't have them. They have been in one city for over a week now.
I can't be the only one, right?

Yes. Volume is up... someone whose husband works for UPS said their current volume tops even the holidays. On top of that, processing centers have been closed, sometimes there are staff shortages, and the postmaster general has directed that there be no overtime. To say nothing of cutbacks on transportation (i.e., international mail is extremely delayed because of the number of flights into the US that have been cancelled).

I had a package just sitting in New Jersey for over a week. I called Costco and they resent it so now I have paid for duplicate items until I can return them ugg. Their return department was supposed to be able to have it rerouted back to them but USPS failed.

Our mail has always been bad, but it’s impossible now.
I am not a supporter of USPS in general. I haven’t bought stamps in 10 years. On the rare occasion I have to mail anything I will go to The UPS Store to avoid USPS.
I try very hard to find out shipping method before I order anything online and will not buy with stores that ship USPS.

I don’t have any problems with the US Postal Service. They’ve been working extra hard during this entire pandemic. Since March they come twice a day everyday to deliver packages and mail to my block and they deliver packages on Sunday now too. I’ve been very impressed!

I ordered from 5 different Etsy shops on July 21. One of them was in the same state as me. That one finally showed up today. Yet, an order from another shop (also in the same state as me) that was placed on Friday showed up on Monday. The other 4 orders from the 21st showed up from three days later to over the weekend. I'm chalking it up to certain PO are just slower.
I ship stuff regularly between eBay and Etsy. So far, everything has been delivered within the 2-5 days window given. Packages that I've sent out on Saturday and yesterday are obviously still in transit.

yes. my usual 1-3 day priority mail packages are now taking at least 5 days to reach their destination. this i expect during the holidays but not now. don't say 1-3 day delivery if you can't come through.

I ordered stamps July 6...just ordinary books of forever stamps. They charged my credit card that day. Stamps arrived yesterday, August 3.

Ugh I am sorry you guys are having issues too but it does make me feel a little bit better!
I feel sorry for the lady that runs our post office. We're rural so she is the only employee. She works so hard, no help whatsoever and her building isn't even air conditioned. The last time the PO was burglarized (happens frequently) she spent her own money upgrading the locks and buying an alarm. She won't be reimbursed. There are so many things that need to change in the postal system.

DH had a package that was tracked to the community near us, but never left that PO for ours. Days went by, finally 2 weeks. Our carrier told us to go to the USPS website and submit a claim about "where is the package" Three days later it was delivered. It had tracking number and was finally found when they began to investigate my query. It was a package that UPS had first and then handed over to the post office. That is where it was hung up.

I try very hard to find out shipping method before I order anything online and will not buy with stores that ship USPS. The problem I'm having is that the shipper will say they are using UPS or Fedex. Then after you get the shipping updates, it turns out they are actually using Smart Post where your package is handed off to the USPS. Those are the packages I've had issues with. One company gave me a delivery date. It made it to the local distribution center - and sat there for 3 days before it made it to me.

Two of my packages that were shipped a month ago were FedEx smart post and the hold up is with FedEx. I hate those shipping methods!

Volume up, covid/people out and trump has installed a {{bleep}} that wants to run the USPS into the ground and oblivion. He has like $75 million reasons why, I read, with that much invested in the retail competition.
But it's fine. trump says so.

I mostly order from Target because they ship UPS. those work share programs suck for a variety of reasons. a big one is not everyone's USPS and "to the door services" addresses/zip codes are the same. My mailing is a POBOX only office with a different zip than my physical address. Most of the time when you order something, the vendor only knows what carrier is starting out and not the end, and more important, delivery carrier. 50/50 crap shoot. To make the sting a little more special for myself, year ago, when still working for the USPS I was in a Business Mail Entry meeting where this was discussed. I pointed out, for the very reasons above, that this would not work for many customers, mostly in more rural areas. Overlooked and got the "nah, it'll be fine" pat answer for the managers of all services there. USPS, UPS and FedEx Yeah, it wasn't then nor is it now "fine" for many people. And it is magnified with the coming of the pandemic.

We’re in the middle of a pandemic, the post office lost 8.8 billion last year (13th year in a row they’ve lost money) and you people want to blame Trump for something that’s been going downhill for years. How about blaming the fact that people don’t use the mail like they used to. Revenue from first class mail is the biggest source of money for the USPS and it’s been on the decline for years. With everything being done by email or online bill pay it’s not going to get better, just worse.
You’re complaining now, wait until November when they have to process all those mail in ballots. Your regular mail and packages are going to be at the bottom of the priority list.

The other issue is that he just came into USPS not too long ago. It is a 24/7/365 operation, lots to learn in so short a time!

They started losing money because of Bush policy's that were absolutely stupid, forcing them to fund the retirement plan for an unreasonable amount of years. No other federally funded program has the same requirements. So, sure, I'll blame the GOP for the downfall of the USPS. Dump Truck is just trying to put the final nail in the coffin.

It’s well documented that there is a purposeful mail slow down instituted by the person trump put in charge of the USPS. They are both on record saying they want to privatize the post office. I don’t particularly like the post office and don’t care if it gets privatized, but you look ridiculous arguing about something that’s so well documented.

I would be thrilled to know that mail-in ballots take priority over all other mail. That is not the goal of the yahoo in charge of the country or in charge of the usps. But you go on with your bad-ass trolling self, hun.

Since we moved 4 years ago (only 2 blocks east and 6 blocks south of our old house), our mail service is outstanding. Other than the driver nothing changed, so for me it’s all about the driver. Our closest Post office is run by this older lady that is very militant about everything. She comes off as a nasty old bird, but she’s an organized, dot your I’s and cross your T’s old bird and I just think she takes a lot of pride in her job.
The mail carrier we have at work, worked with my dh for years in the military. He’s a scruffy, dirty looking dude (his ring around the collar has ring around the collar) but he goes out of his way to come in and let me know when he’ll be off for a vacation or whatever out of the ordinary situation there might be. He told me that just like Fedex and UPS “faster” paid services were not being guaranteed due to the amount of shipping that is being done. He himself isn’t getting home until after 8:00 every night, as is dh’s bff that works for UPS. They both say it is still like holiday shipping.
I guess since I know 2 of these people well, I’m ok giving them a break if something did show up late. They are all just humans trying to do their best, busting their asses in non air conditioned vehicles (or tromping thru snow) to deliver shit to the privileged people that want it all RIGHT NOW. They have family and friends they can’t see because of social distancing and being essential workers, just like so many others. Sometimes I think we all forget about that.
I’m sorry for those that have crappy service and have for years. I wish there was something you could do to get that fixed. I don’t know what that answer looks like, but I am sorry.

I've noticed that our mail delivery used to be between 2:30 and 3:00. Now it frequently doesn't show up until after 5:00. When I see our mail lady, she looks beyond frazzled these days.

My daughter is a mail carrier. She says with Covid that more people at home, more items being ordered, more items needing shipped/delivered. These mail carriers drive these vehicles with no air conditioning, no heat. They are working very hard. They have many customers who rely on them for medicine, food, pet supplies etc to survive. I would hope people would be kind and compassionate. Thank you to all who show kindness to their mail ladies/gentlemen.

Just because the place is only 30 minutes away from your mailing address doesn't mean it comes straight from them to you. All mail has to go to a sorting facility and if there isn't one in your town, it is sent to the closest one. For example any thing that is mailed from my company in Roanoke, VA, even if I am mailing it next door. Will go to the main post office here, then it is trucked down to Greensboro NC to be sorted and then trucked back to Roanoke for delivery. It's stupid. No wonder the USPS is in trouble.

I get the frustration with not keeping "in town" mail in town but it's not that simple. Sorting is down by machines now and there is very little sorting done in office. Also people don't get the whole idea of mail hubs. Think of it as a wheel. You'd think that your letter would make a straight line (shortest route) to a next door town or whatever just a few miles away. But that way you'd have way too many vehicles going every which way. The mail is taken to the center (hub) sorted and delivered to various offices along the "spoke" of the wheel by one (or a lot less) vehicle. It is more efficient even if it doesn't seem like it from the outside or on the surface. When I first started years ago in a small office, we did have to sort mail for our town to the routes. In took the staff hours and hours to do what a machine can do in minutes now. It would be a waste of time and effort to go back to in house sorting. The USPS has their problems, a lot of which is out of their control are straddled with but the hub system isn't causing it. It actually helps
