We never saw ourselves as owning two dogs but now we don't think we could ever have less than two.

I like having two. Two of breeds with similar temperaments/energy levels word even better. We have a boxer pup and a 2 yr old MastiffxSt Bernard cross. They get along well but it would be even better if the boxer had someone more willing to play- the older dog doesn’t have a fraction of the energy as the boxer.

I know you've already decided but wanted to chime in as well.
I think 2 dogs are easier than having just one. When we had one, we had to entertain him around the clock. With two, they can play with each other.

Oh yes, I love having two of the same breed. It's amazing how different their play can be between breeds. Rough Collies do a thing called the "collie gator." I have never seen any of our other dogs in the past play like that. They both understand each other and they play HARD! Some people might mistake it for fighting but it's not. Complete play.

Yes, Boxers Box with their front paws when they play. Other dogs don’t always appreciate the boxing. They also make noises that sound like Chewbacca and those sometimes scare people not familiar with boxers and their numerous vocalizations.

This is kinda of what happened to me with my 2. I kept in touch with the breeder and she needed emergency back surgery after having a litter. Everyone was taken but one fell thru. We were thinking about a second dog to keep Dakota company while we were at work and since they were siblings, we picked up Iris. I LOVE Iris. She's the EASIEST dog though she quickly let Dakota know that she was top dog. They get along great for the most part but there are times that they act like the siblings they are (one will bother the other and vice versa).

How does your current dog respond to/interact with other dogs?
We had one dog, indifferent to other dogs. We thought he would be happier with a sibling. So we got a second dog. She was reasonably friendly at first. He had ZERO interest in her. Ignored her existence entirely. I do not think getting the second dog added to his life.

So glad you decided to get Stanlee a sister and I look forward to many pictures and hearing what her name will be!
I always had mutts and 2 at a time, staggered though. All my pups loved their brothers and I absolutely think it added to their happiness. My last dog Jasper had a cat sister after his dog brother passed away though and he loved the kitty too.

Our neighbor got her pup (same breeder different litter) a month after we picked up Stanlee. They play about 3 nights a week. They chase and play up and down our backyard. He likes to interact!

We have four: one huge 130lb rescue and 3 shelties. It’s not difficult. Two was very easy. Enjoy your new puppy 😀 That's because shelties are the sweetest pups.

Two dogs? Yes, please. Two is always the correct answer.
