I've not seen any autumn-themed food at all round here, I've not even seen Starbucks sell their PSLs yet! And bearing in mind I'm working in central London that seems super strange. We have had some perfect days weather wise though, it's been wonderful, although we've got highs of 28°C on Monday and Tuesday so I'm not looking forward to that!
I ordered some things to play with from scrapbook.com last month and they're still not here! Ordered on the 14th August, arrived in the UK on the 2ns September... I didn't find some autumnal themed travellers notebook papers from Kelly Purkey in my little paper collection, so I have something to keep me going. I still don't know what format I'll use (I keep changing my mind over TN or a 4x4, but I am going to keep it as simple and minimal as possible. A photo a day, nothing much more.

Shimelle has been doing a bit of a PSL watch in London. Apparently every time Starbucks posts an image of their current drink offerings on IG they just get bombarded with people asking for an ETA on the PSL The US got them very early this year. Don't know why the UK is getting them late unless there's a supply chain issue... is all the magical American pumpkin spice mix sitting in a warehouse waiting for a plane...? IDK.

Oh, my Ghost Stories paper pad arrived so I'm committed (to doing something)!! What that will be, I have no idea. But the paper pad is rather cool. At the very least I can make eleventy billion Halloween cards with it.

My daughter brought home more pumpkin spiced doughnuts and mint truffle hot chocolate. She said she was feeling rich because she got paid today. She has high functioning Autism, and is usually quite the miser, so it was funny hearing it come from her when I know she probably doesn't have the best concept of money.
I watched the Ed and Lorraine Warren documentary. It was okay. It didn't feel like anything new.
I need to get some Halloween photos uploaded and printed for my October Daily/Ongoing Halloween album. Next week virtual schooling begins with my son. There was a mix up with registration, so we are starting late. I met with his teacher at his new school and I'm feeling better about this! Everything is going to be hands on, we shall see how many things I get done with this project. My plan of doing 31 things seems a little ambitious now. I have finished two pages and I'm counting them towards the total!
My album is quite full. I think I may just buy a 8.5x11 clear view binder and decorate it a bit or get a black album from Hobby Lobby. They are becoming increasingly difficult to find.

Opening page done. Just some numeral stickers and a tiny bit of ghost stamping to indicate the year and moving on. Ah, the joys of simplicity and minimalism with smaller formats... To be completely honest, I'm a little over themed products. I'm going to use these LLP for KP designs as much as possible this year so I can move on and purge the leftovers. I'm ready to return to my initial love of more abstract patterns. Let this be a good reminder to myself *not* to buy any Halloween designs this year. Kelly commented on IG that some were coming to the new shop in October but putting together my 4x4 kit for this year has really emphasised that I don't want any more to work with in the near future.

The pumpkin selection, including PSL, is now officially available from Starbucks France. I'd be surprised if neighbouring EU countries are behind. Should now be available in London, Charwee!

I got all inspired by the minimalism of shannanm's DD books that she shared on IG the last couple of days so I'm back on board, I bought the Ghost Stories after Paypal offered me $5 off to shop that link I shared (paid for my shipping and then I bought all the things - oops). I might be up for OD and DD, who knows?! Maybe 4x8 homemade (non)junk journal type of thing. Can you share her YT and/or IG?

Can't remember where I saw this, but liked the designs. Not sure if it's available at Michaels (which usually carries MS) but it is available on Amazon. I am trying to stick to my not buying any more halloween items thing... but wanted to share! There were also some good designs on coordinating washi tapes.

That Martha Stewart paper is pretty nice! A good alternative to the Ghost Stories pad for gold lovers (Ghost Stories has cool silver/holographic tones) I'm watching Serena Bee Creative on YT over lunch www.youtube.com/user/miseriacantare I ended up there after watching Heba's video linked above. Gathering my thoughts...

Here's Netflix's spooky and creepy and thrilling schedule for original releases for October. Let the cosy days and evenings at home begin... Oct. 9: The Haunting of Bly Manor | Second installment in the anthology series launched last year with The Haunting of Hill House. Adaptation of The Turn of the Screw. Oct. 16: La Révolution | A story about a peasant rebellion movement and deaths set against the backdrop of the French revolution. I love the inclusion of anachronisms like the Molotov cocktail as a nod to other French movements of rebellion and unrest. Bring on the fancy wigs and murders! Oct. 19: Unsolved Mysteries | Volume 2 of Netflix's revival series. This one will include a very seasonally appropriate ghost story... Oct. 21: Rebecca | Classic Daphne du Maurier gets a brand new adaptation. With views from my beautiful nook of France. Oct. 22: Cadaver | Norwegian horror movie about people disappearing from a fancy party set in the aftermath of a nuclear disaster. This one sounds fun but I'm struggling to track down a proper trailer. Extra layer of mystery! Oct. 23: Over the Moon | Special mention to this animated Netflix original that is not quite on theme but is definitely one of the most anticipated releases in the world of animation. Netflix paired up with Pearl Studio to bring us the adaptation of one of China's most beloved classic tales. The trailer reveals a stunner of a movie and award contender. I can't wait to have a mug of steaming chai in my hands and a warm blanket on my lap to watch this as the weather turns dark and gloomy... ETA: This one is directed by Glen Keane who's behind Disney's Renaissance in the 1990s. He's known for Disney classics like The Little Mermaid, Beauty & the Beast, Pocahontas, Aladdin, Tarzan, Tangled and more.

Thanks for the watching recommendations. I need to make a list. Our local supermarket just sent out a fall booklet with recipes and coupons that I chopped apart to save for OD. If I decide to do a crafty version I have some decent typography (eg. a bold san serif "Fall fun to do list" over a photo of many pumpkins) and some cute images of silly Halloween treats and juicy apples, etc. I may not end up using it, but it's free and it can go into the recycle bin if it's not useful. Serena Bee's channel had lots of ideas for albums but tbh her frantic explanations just exhausted me, so I tuned out after a while. She's definitely representing the maximalist aesthetic, and I'm leaning more minimalist, especially given that 90% of the fun fall things I do (which are few and far between anyway) will be cancelled. So I'm thinking I will focus more on movies and books and hope that we get some good weather for photography. If it's as dim with rain as it currently is with wildfire smoke, a very real possibility in the PNW, I probably won't have much to photograph. Might have to do some throwbacks to sunny autumn photos of yesteryear. And maybe throwback costumes too. That could be fun. BTW I'm happy to report that I have bebe punkins growing in the yard, despite having given them no care or even remembering that I threw out some seeds. So at least I'll have some cute decorations! http://instagram.com/p/CFK7qpDARI8

No, no, no,no to Rebecca remake. The first had freaking Laurence Olivier for the love of ghosts and was incredibly well cast across the board, beautifully shot, and incredibly faithful to the source material -down to a lot of the dialogue being lifted verbatim from the book.
They should have remade My Cousin Rachel or Jamaica Inn. Sorry, Booty, not watching that one. Shame on Netflix, shame!!!

I ordered the spooky bundle from Studio Calico and it arrived yesterday. It's super cute, those phrase stickers are great and I'll make good use of the stamp. It's almost cute enough to make me miss being a SC subscriber... I'm still waiting for my papers from Scrapbook.com. WAAA. It's been sitting in a warehouse somewhere near Stansted airport for 14 days now. I've signed up for a book subscription for next month. Books That Matter sound really cool, always send interesting books and a few extra goodies too and October's box promises to be extra witchy. I can't wait to curl up and have a good read.

Have you seen some of the big BIG budget productions Netflix have made in the past couple of years? Way worse than what this Rebecca remake looks to be... There are many reasons to shame Netflix but I don't think this is one. I love the Hitchcock adaptation but I'll still watch this one. The trailer is giving me 50 Shades vibes, however. Hoping that won't be the case. Armie Hammer is yum so I'm willing to sit through however long this remake is just for his pretty face. I know, Skellinton, I have no shame, zero. Bad Booty, bad bad Booty!

I can't wait to curl up and have a good read. Looks like a really neat book box, Charwee. I'll have to check which book they ended up including for the October box! One of my favourite witchy reads is Sorcières by Mona Chollet, a well-documented essay on feminism through the ages and the obsession of the image of the witch. Alas, it hasn't been translated in English yet although I did see it translated in Spanish, Italian, German and Dutch. On the topic of books, do any of you remember witchy children's books from your youth? I was shocked when I read Witches from Dahl recently. I did not remember it being so negative towards women... I also remembered Little Big Feet by Ingrid and Dieter Schubert, tracked down a vintage French copy and oh my, it's still as enchanting and cute as ever.

Skellinton I saw a deadly nightshade jar popping up on the French Shop Disney store. Not sure if it's a new product globally or was already sold last year in the US but it's pretty.

I read lots of creepy and scary books in my preteen and teen years, but don’t remember much that were specifically witchy. I was fascinated by the Salem Witch Trials though and read lots of non fiction about that. Would love some suggestions for spooky reads though! I don’t mind young adult lit, I will read anything. I might just reread the Shirley Jackson books this year, but would love to expand my horizons.

To reactivate your fascination with the Salem witch trials, have you read I, Tituba, Black Witch of Salem by Maryse Condé? It's a beautiful piece of literature (not your "typical" historical fiction) focused on extracting a tale of folklore, feminism, heroic myth even from the historical Tituba, Black slave to Pastor Parrish in Salem and first woman accused of witchcraft in the Salem witch trials. It's short (around 250 pages), haunting, intense, deeply resonating and far too unknown in the US. It was a major success here upon release in the 1980s. The only drawback is the price of the English language paperback at almost $20 (University Press of Virginia) and no Kindle version. But in 2020, it might finally be time to delve into the voice of a Black witch written by a fellow Black diaspora female author. On a final note, Condé has been speculated to be shortlisted for the Nobel Prize in Literature many times over the years. Alas, she hasn't received it so far and is running out of time at the age of 83. She won the "alternative" Nobel in 2018 (the New Academy Prize in Literature) which I think will seal her fate as a non-recipient for the Nobel. She's definitely worthy of one and I can only recommend I, Tituba, Black Witch of Salem.
