You have to have a nintendo online membership and internet access to play with us. It's $20 a year for a single member. On the first page of any of these chat threads is this list of everyone's friend code. When you set up your switch, you can add us all using our friend codes: Go to your profile page. Go to Add Friend > Search with Friend Code. Insert your friend's 12-digit friend code. Choose "Send Friend Request" when it confirms their identity. Press OK. People may request you too by searching for your code. You'd go to the Add Friends screen same as above and look at your friend requests. Click on each user you want to accept and follow prompts. To retrieve what your code is, select your User icon (My Page) from the HOME Menu. Select Profile, and then check the right side of the screen to find your friend code. Many of us have two names-the name of our switch profile, and the name of our game character. So your requests may come in and out under different names than the ones you'll actually see in the game play. For example, oh yvonne switch profile has her name on it so when she friend requests you or accepts your request, it will say Yvonne, but when she visits your island, she comes as dahlia. You won't be able to visit or have visitors for the first few days of playing. Make sure you log in every day for the first few days to advance your game set up. Once the initial few days pass, you'll go to your airport and go inside and go to the counter and push A. Orville will ask you what you want to do. If you want to visit one of us, you'll say "I wanna fly." And then choose "online" and then choose "Search for a Friend." If you want us to come to you, you go to him and tell him you want visitors, then choose online, and then choose "all my friends." By using the friend list, only people you've accepted can visit or allow you to visit. If you only want a specific person to visit, you'd choose the dodo code option instead and then give that code to the person you want to visit. To make in-game chatting easier, download the nintendo switch app and sign in with the same info you used to create your nintendo online account. Choose animal crossing and then skip the "voice chat" option. Then choose the keyboard option. Anything you type there on the phone will show up on screen.

Thanks for keeping us organized and up to date MissJen! Can’t believe we are onto thread 2 for August already lol. Thank goodness for this sweet fun game during this difficult time we’re all having to endure. I really have a rough day today, first one in a long time and having this game and all the peas to get lost in has been a mental life saver. 🥰

Thanks for keeping all this info organized! I've really enjoyed my first week. I just had my first resident move in (first after the original five that the game gave me)...mine is a guy named Lopez. I need to google him to see what he's like. I also have to look up my other residents to see what their personalities are. I see all of you talking about character traits so I'm guessing I need a variety...? I just got my 5th room this morning, the upstairs one. I was planning to put the bathroom up there but now I see it's bigger! So I'm not giving a bathroom that huge space. So now I can't decide. I might have the kitchen up there so I can also put an eating area in. I want a nice large reading/music room also, but for now I don't have any of those things (bookcases, instruments) so I'll put the kitchen up there. I want a red kitchen -- red appliances I mean, and red accents -- so if any of you ever have anything like that in your store please let me know. Also musical instruments. I've just discovered the last pocket expansion so now I'm all set to visit my first mystery island. Any tips for that? And, it appears that I have way more house storage than I realized. oy... So today's goal, after the daily chores, is to clean up the stuff I have laying ALL OVER the ground. ugh

Haven't been around for a few days. I've decided to start my island again. DD18 was the first to play when we got the Switch so she is island representative. It's becoming really hard to progress because she is the only one that can do many things. She is in her last year at school so studying hard and rarely gets the opportunity to do what needs doing. I ordered a new Switch lite for her yesterday. The plan is that she will play on that when she can. Then I can start again with myself as Island Rep. on the original Switch.

I need to google him to see what he's like. I also have to look up my other residents to see what their personalities are. I see all of you talking about character traits so I'm guessing I need a variety...? Different personality types will teach you different DIY and different reactions. The reactions are those things like greetings + laughing. I just got my 5th room this morning, the upstairs one. I was planning to put the bathroom up there but now I see it's bigger! So I'm not giving a bathroom that huge space. So now I can't decide. I might have the kitchen up there so I can also put an eating area in. I want a red kitchen -- red appliances I mean, and red accents -- so if any of you ever have anything like that in your store please let me know. Also musical instruments. Congrats on the new room! I have most kitchen items and music items cataloged. If you have a specific musical thing, let me know so I can mail it to you. I'm planning to have all colors of refrigerators and kitchen islands at the next catalog event, along with some other house ware type stuff. But, again, if you have something specific you want ahead of time, I can mail it to you. I've just discovered the last pocket expansion so now I'm all set to visit my first mystery island. Any tips for that? Be sure to clear the entire island. By that, I mean, shake your trees for your furniture (carry a net because there will be one wasp, too), then chop them all down, bang your rocks, etc. You could end up on your sister fruit island (you'll know because it'll ALL be fruit trees) or Bamboo (self explanatory), in which case save all that fruit because it'll sell well. I think DH says there's 57 once you shake all the trees. There's a guide with all the types of Mystery Islands you could land on. We have our own nicknames at our house, but sometimes the rarer ones have special things about them, like Fin Island is all sharks to fish up. I landed on one of the Rain forest islands this morning before 6am, so I was able to clear it and just catch the bigger palm tree bugs. Your bugs + fish will depend on what time you land on the island. I truly was afraid of demolishing an island when I started playing, but that's what you're supposed to do! Have fun, can't wait to hear how it goes!

Which aren't set up yet. My kitchen has some stuff just dumped in there with no set-up yet. Although...some of the layouts that I see online seem to be in rooms that are much bigger than mine? is it just that the person has excellent space management? or do they get bigger somehow? Even with the larger room for the kitchen I can't see how an eating area will fit, although I'm sure I saw that somewhere online.

I’m going to open my gates. I have Leif. I put new signs up for watering. Same place....right of airport. I’ll be AFK for the next hour or 2. Just say hi when you drop in so I know who visited, all items are up for grabs in Nooks.

So...I let Peanut move away and I visited a mystery island this morning. I knew that I had amiibo cards on the way but I did not want to risk Tom letting any random move in. My very first mystery island this morning I found....Marina! Score! I found Raymond on my first mystery island stop on my last villager hunt. I don't know how I am getting so lucky!

Googling to find out what "amiibo cards" are since I've seen several of you mention them.

Googling to find out what "amiibo cards" are since I've seen several of you mention them. They're basically pre-loaded to let you load whoever you want into your campsite. There are a few characters you can't purchase, like Raymond, because they're new to New Horizons, but others have a card. You can find them on Etsy or Amazon or Ebay if you're wanting to load your favorite campers without searching on Mystery Islands. From experience, it took me going to 59 islands before we found Audie. Rolf took us a lot longer. It's a billion times easier to use the Amiibo, but that's a personal choice if you want to spend the money or not. We ended up buying 3, each of my kids chose one "dream" villager, with the only rule being that we needed to get the photos of our other villagers first, then we'd load up the Amiibos. Once you have the Amiibo, you just go to your Nook Stop (machine) and there's an Amiibo option. You just tap it to your bottom right joystick when it prompts you and the character shows up at your campsite. You go visit them and they'll ask you to make them something. You bring it back and you can ask them to move in. They'll turn you down, but ask you to invite them back. Repeat the same song and dance the next day, they'll turn you down again. Repeat one more time, this time when you deliver, they'll be happy to move in and if you're full, is there someone who they should talk to about moving out. You can then pick which of your villagers you want to leave and swap them, they'll take over their lot on your island and move in the next day. Meanwhile, your current villager will "be in boxes" to pack up and move. This is when you can have anybody else with an open plot on their island offer to come invite that villager to their island, if they want. No harm no foul if nobody does. Hope that helps!! No books today in my shop, but if you need a few, I have some stored up!

I'm not sure what a "catalogue event" is, lol... But when I start thinking about what I need I'll let you to see if I can buy them. Same with the musical instruments... I think you might've *just* started when I had my last one. I've basically cataloged (picked up and put down/sold) a ton of items, whether from Peas or my family or Catalog Parties, and I order all the colorways in a bunch of items. For instance, the "mug". It comes in 8 colors, so I will order each color. I'm limited to 5 orders a day though, so I could only get 5/8. I order the other 3 and then whatever else the next day, etc, etc. As soon as you pick up something in the game, whether a piece of furniture or clothing, it goes into your own "catalog" of items in your Nook Shopping. When someone has a catalog event (party, whatever), they drop all of the items around their island and you come and pick up each leaf and place it back down. This then puts that item into your own personal catalog of items to shop from. I have all 8 mug colors, you'll now have all 8 mug colors as long as you pick up each one. You can then order whatever you want forever and ever amen. There are exceptions, like special items from Sahara or Gulliver or items that have been crafted, but overall, you can still collect a ton. I have a thing for having all the colors in things... This next Catalog I'm planning to have housewares, including kitchen islands, refrigerators, food stuffs, plants, etc. ^.^

Up until yesterday I was just using the handheld and although it wasn't easy to type on that screen it was at least doable. But now I have the game connected to an extra computer monitor and omg it's impossible to chat. Everyone probably thinks I'm rude because I'm not answering.

Thank you very much! Now... what is the app for our phones that you all use to do the chat? Up until yesterday I was just using the handheld and although it wasn't easy to type on that screen it was at least doable. But now I have the game connected to an extra computer monitor and omg it's impossible to chat. Everyone probably thinks I'm rude because I'm not answering. It's the Nintendo Switch Online app: Here It helps soooooooo much in game for typing! Downloaded it, thanks! But...it's telling me that it's voice chat. I don't want that, I just want to type. How do I do that? I've clicked everything I can see to click but there's no typing option.

Then I can start again with myself as Island Rep. on the original Switch. that's what happened to us. Older DD bought the Switch, that's why my account is "Marissas Switch". Then Dahlia signed up as the main player and I was the secondary. After a few weeks she started losing interest so I winded up taking over HER character as the main one, which is why I go by Dahlia in the game and she plays as Yvonne. LOL. I sure wish there was a way to change account name information, it can be sucha confusing PITA. Miss Jen you kinda got it wrong, I'll show up in everyone requests as coming from Marissas Switch Profile, and not Yvonne " Many of us have two names-the name of our switch profile, and the name of our game character. So your requests may come in and out under different names than the ones you'll actually see in the game play. For example, oh yvonne switch profile has her name on it so when she friend requests you or accepts your request, it will say Yvonne, but when she visits your island, she comes as dahlia."

I’ll fix it. In my friends list, you’re Yvonne, not Marissa.

Argh okay I need help. I got the Amibo for Lucky. So I followed everyone's instructions got him to the campsite yesterday. He asked me for a cardboard bed. I had the DIY for it so I thought okay cool. Except in order to make the DIY bed you need medium cardboard boxes. In order to make the Medium Cardboard boxes you need a cardboard box. Well yesterday I happened to have enough in my inventory so I made the bed and gave it to him. He didn't say anything else to me other than repeating the same thing over and over and he mentioned he would leave in the morning. So..I thought that all you had to do was keep trying and he's ask you to make three things but all in the same trip? So I kept trying and trying but he'd never change his script and never asked me to make anything else so I finally gave up. Well I just signed on today and he's gone. So..I guess you have to do this whole process for three whole days in a row and THEN he moves <ed>in? That's what I figured okay that's the part I wasn't clear on. So I got my Amibo card again, invited him and and he's camping again. And now again he's asking for medium cardboard boxes and now I'm out of regular boxes and I just ordered more but that won't come until tomorrow to be delivered to me..so I'm SOL and am going to have to start the process all over again? O MG I'm so irritated with this, this should NOT be so hard! Why the hell would they have you create something that's not readily available?
