How do you do it?
Here's what I am thinking (and I hope this makes sense):
I want to stamp every stamp I own onto a white card and store them by type of stamp (birthday, font, animal, flower, etc) in an album.
Here's where I can't wrap my brain around - what do you do about stamp sets that have several 'themes' on them (say one stamp set has a happy birthday stamp, a congrats stamp, a dog, and a balloon on it) - how do you categorize them? Does each stamp on the set get categorized or just the whole stamp set a general category, like 'sentiments' ? Do you do anything special since it has sentiments, a dog and a balloon on it?
Do you have an entire section for hearts? Stars? Or do they just go into a category for whatever else is on the stamp set?
Am I over thinking this? (Yes. Yes, I am.)
How do you sort yours?

Like many others, I use the free version of Evernote. I create a separate note (basically a file) for each stamp set. Within the body of the note, I type all the sentiments. Then I use "tags" underneath. I always tag the manufacturer, size of stamp (so I can find it easily) and any images (so for your example, I'd add a "balloon" tag and a "dog" tag). You can also tag the whole stamp set as "birthday" or "congrats," etc. This way it can exist in multiple categories. What I really like about this method is that when I have a certain phrase in mind, I can search for it to see if I own a stamp with that phrase. It's a huge help for me. You can also add an image of the stamp set in the note. This is something I'm working on adding slowly, since the free version of Evernote has a monthly data cap. This way, you also don't have to physically stamp each set, you can search online for an image of the stamp set. (I've been able to find some image of most stamp sets, even older ones. For ones I can't find an image, I've tagged them with a nonsense word so that later if I desire, I can take a picture of my stamp set.) Here's a picture of one of my entries. (Please don't judge me for how many stamp sets I have!) Also, if I own the coordinating die, I add "die" to the note's title, e.g. "Kelly Purkey Gilmore Girls (die)".

And just to add on another tip, if I bought a stamp set with a certain person in mind (like my sister), I can also tag the stamp set with that person's name so when I need to make her a card, I can easily find those sets.

I use free version of Evernote, too. I have different "Notebooks" for things like Stamps Sets, Shape Dies, Stencils, Alphas, Background Stamps, Background Dies, Sentiment Stamps, Holiday, etc. The "Note Title" is the name of the stamp set (Lawn Fawn Winter Sparrows w/dies). I add photo of the set, then "tag" each item and sentiment (bird, branch, leaf, musical note, seasons tweetings.) I can search for a specific item, say musical note, and all my sets with those will show on my screen. I can scroll through to see which one or which size matches my project.
I've tried other apps but keep coming back to Evernote it's just so easy to use. And the free version you can have on two devices. The only drawback with the free version (in the beginning only) is there is a limit to how much you can in a month. But then you just wait until the next month and add more.

Apparently I started an Evernote account at one point as I found it when I downloaded it. I think this is how I will store them all. While I like the idea of a 'stamp album' with the actual stamps stamped and in the correct category, it makes my brain hurt thinking of actually stamping each set into the various categories a particular stamp could fit into. Adding tags seams like it would be way easier.

I wanted to do the same thing, but I decided I had too many stamps to stamp them all out like that. I ended up just coding a system (using webdings and printing labels) to identify sets with multiple purposes. For instance, my dilemma was things like "with sympathy" - many different type of stamp sets have a sentiment like that, but it may be on a set that is mostly flowers, so I would have it stored in the Floral/Nature section of my organization. So if I add the category label, which any sympathy sentiments, I include a bold capital "S", then I know by flicking thru, I can see the labels of which have a sympathy sentiment. I explain it all here in a blog post and there is a video somewhere also: thepapergoddess.wordpress.com/2018/03/09/stamp-storage-organization/I like the idea of the Evernote storage, but I don't feel like going thru all the stamp sets for every sentiment. I feel like I generally have an idea of what I have and can flip thru certain categories to get what I want. I've also had issues with the free Evernote app for some reason too, so I don't really use it as much anymore.

I also use Evernote and the tags are how I find stamps. Unfortunately I haven’t updated it in quite a while. I did originally include a picture of each stamp set, but I’m abandoning that. I don’t have so many stamps that I can’t quickly search for what popped up in a search. Then I can pull them all or just the one that will work.

I have way too many stamps (My wood block stamps alone are 3 deep on nine four foot long shelves) to switch over to Evernote at this point although I think it’s a great system. Mine are just stamped out then go in a 3 ring binder. I keep my pages group by theme, each page is numbered and the stamp set gets numbered. I just flip through my binder, find what I want then pull the stamp set/sets.
I’be been using this system for quite a few years. It’s not perfect but it works for me.

I tried Evernote, but it didn't work very well. I am tech challenged.
I don't have many stamps, so I used the stamp on cardstock version. What I did do was copy the images of the stamps that were online and printed them once or multiple times.
If I felt that certain images went with more than one theme, I would cut out the image I wanted and paste that on cardstock to the other section. I write a note to the side of the image that says $1.00 stamp (they are stored together) or Echo Park fall stamps.
If there was a paper insert of the images with the stamps, I would make a photocopy. This sped up the process immensely. It hasn't been too bad to keep up with because lately it seems like newer stamp sets have the insert of the images included.
It doesn't look pretty, and some are not stamped the greatest, but I can see them clearly enough. It's mainly to remember what I do have. Some of the printed images are not the same scale of the actual stamp.

I also use Evernote but do it on my phone. I do what everyone else says for stamps. So for instance I have a category that says lawn Fawn stamps and then each laen Fawn stamp set is in there. I also give each stamp set a number, lust what category under lawn Fawn it’s filed in, and give it a number. So then I can look under mice # 25 for instance and find exactly where I filed it. I sort everything by manufacturer then subject under each manufacturer in their bins. I have separate notes where I store pictures of ideas I like using particular stamp sets. So if I find cute ideas for the stamp set you are sublime by lawn Fawn all the card ideas are screen captured and filed under laen Fawn you are sublime. I love it. Makes it so handy to find my stamp set and ideas.

I use Evernote. I have notebooks for stamps, dies, ink, cardstock, etc I put all stamps in one notebook. Each stamp has a photo. I add the category where er I file it and add tags with each item on the set. Ex: flower pot, dog, witch, etc. I also type out each sentiment and add any occasion it could be used for. This makes it so easy to find what I’m wanting. I also add “+dies” if I have the matching die set.

I use the Color My Life app and it is perfect for me. I wrote a product recommendation for it on the stamping board if you're interested. You do have to pay after the first month if you want to keep adding to it, but I do find it worth it ($1.50/month or $14.99/year).

I need to this, but I was thinking that I could just scan the white cover sheet of the stamp collection (if I have one) and then put them on a card and just put a ring on the cards. That way I could do this whole process in less time and still have a catalog of the stamps.

I stamp them all out by theme and store them in a binder. They are stamped out by individual stamp, but by set, but each stamp is labeled so I know what set it is on and how to locate it. I have a saved highlight on my instagram stories about it. https://www.instagram.com/p/CDcNlb7AiUq

I’m too lazy to catalog them by theme lol. Can I pay someone to do it? 😆
My plan is to just stamp each set on a page and make tabs to sort the pages by manufacturer. I’m hoping I can just ink up the entire set and stamp it all at once while still on the cling and not have to remove each one lol. This may not work but I’m going to attempt it.
I figure as long as I have something to flip through quickly and see what I have it will be faster than pulling out each sleeve one by one. That’s good enough for me.

The only drawback with the free version (in the beginning only) is there is a limit to how much you can in a month. But then you just wait until the next month and add more. Wait, the storage limit resets every month? The free version doesn’t have a firm storage limit in total???

Wait, the storage limit resets every month? The free version doesn’t have a firm storage limit in total??? You can add a maximum of 60MB each month. If there is a total limit I haven't reached it yet and I have about 500 notes with photos and tags.

Your idea will work, I’ve done it. Do you have a Misti? Just tape the corners of the cling done on the top, ink up and stamp. Another option would be to ink your stamps, lay a sheet of paper on top and run over the whole thing with a braver. Now if some of your sheets have sentiments that are on the sheet vertically those will have to be removed and stamped separately so you can read them.

I do not have as many stamps as many of you do but after starting to stamp each stamp set onto paper I gave up- too time consuming. I ended up taking a photo of each stamp set in the packet or set out on table. Bought a cheap photo album, with slip in pockets- small 1/2 A4 size. I have them in themes so I can flick through the album a lot quickly than looking through my stamp tubs. This helps is I am away from home scrapping - just leave space on the layout and stamp when I return home. Photos cost 10c each so it probably cost me under $10 AUS and very little time to be organised! And I left a few pockets in each section so can add new ones as I buy them. Now.... if only I had time to start using them all! Corinne
