Advent calendars are awesome here in Canada. Every supermarket and drug store has Lindt and Kinder brand calendars with big pieces of chocolate. There is even one with Kinder eggs.

Yeah, adventcalendars are a big thing here in Norway too. We also get the Kinderegg one, and it's got lots of good stuff in it, but it's a bit expensive. The bestsellers over here I think are the Lego ones. You can get Lego Friends, Lego City etc.
Our favourite is the Haribo one. We've had that for the last couple of years, and just bought this year's.

Yum! Lindt is my personal fave. Must go search for these!
My DS15 used to love the Lego advent calendars. Playmobil makes outstanding Advent calendars too if you are looking for children. DD14 loved those! Sniff, sniff...wish my kids didn't grow up so fast.

The stores are awash with Advent Calendars from all the chocolate makers here too now - I'm going to pick up a couple of the Lindt chocolate calendars you show tomorrow.....and I don't think I will be able to not buy the Lindt Santa's sleigh as well, it's neat!! It's good when the left over Advent Calendar stock goes on sale in the first week of December too!!

Starbucks Advent Calendar for 2014I did not see the ones with candy until I was a grown-up. All we had were the paper ones. I have a couple of the Playmobile ones that we reuse, and I have calendar that is a "house" and I buy candy for that one. I need to get a couple for the grand-kids.

Wow the starbucks one is cool! I did not know they had one. Where have I been?? I got the lego Friends and the City for my DS (12) and DD(15) (yes she still likes legos) the Starbucks one would be perfect for my college kid! Are there any other advent calendars that are age appropriate for college kids or adults? We usually get some kind of Chocolate one for each of the kids, this is the 1st yr I have splurged on the big ones.

I just ordered the advent calendar from Yankee Candles - 24 different candles, on-line only. Tealights, in case anyone is wondering. My favorite one, when I was a kid, was one that had come from Avon and behind each door was something to scratch-n-sniff! Every so often, I will find something that smells just like the pine tree in that calendar did.

Get one of the big wooden reusable ones from Target or somewhere like that, and put your own stuff inside the doors! I love Advent calendars and always have, so when Target started carrying them I snagged one for 70% off at the end of the season one year thinking I would paint it and alter it (it's black and red and kind of ugly). Well, that never happened, but we still use it anyway and DD loves it. we told her that the Elf on the Shelf puts the stuff in the doors every night! I've been eyeballing the Lego ones for myself for a few years but can't bring myself to spend that much money on something so silly.

My kids get the haribo calendars at their grandparent's (which ensures them daily visits from the grandkids) plus they have calendars at home which I embroidered before they were born. This year, DS15 gets sugarfree gum every day, and DD8 get a mix of candy and surprises. And if DH doesn't get me one, I will buy one for myself. Love, love calendars!

I have handmade ones from the 24 muffin tins. I cut out squares from magnets and decorated each one. We have a World's Finest Chocolate store in our small town and I usually fill it with chocolate from there. I put money in the last spot.

Kinderegg Advent Calendars? I could CRY. They sound incredible!!!! I looked at buying one yesterday, however was disappointed with the contents.
There isn't a kinder-egg for each day. There are some other chocolate things but only one or two actual kindereggs.
For a few extra $, I bought the Lindor Advent calendar, good chocolate every day.
