I've been making them for years. Maybe 10 years or so. I don't have any pictures anymore. I started because I had a TON of business size envelopes I wanted to get rid of. Imagine my surprise just lately to hear they are a "thing"now. I don't have any dies and won't purchase any but I may look on the Silhouette store to see if they have anything there. They have some, but not a lot. Somebody needs to jump on that bandwagon!

They have some, but not a lot. Somebody needs to jump on that bandwagon! The original ones were by Lori Whitlock and were posted awhile ago. I think that the ones which I saw recently were from a different designer. I am guessing we will see more from additional designers before long. If the stitching lines were more pronounced, more people would use their cutters to just make their own. It’s pretty easy to duplicate some of the die designs, but if you want the stitched edge, it’s just not as pronounced as a die can give you. Most of the designs in the Silhouette Design Store aren’t stitched designs. The stitched designs are one of the few reasons that I still buy physical dies. I love my Cameo.

I agree about the stitched designs. I'm never happy with them when I use a design from Cameo. And now that I think about it I could see myself buying a stitched die for slimline cards.

I think it's a cute size! They remind me of the cards that you'd get from your grandma with a $10 (or a check!) for Christmas or your birthday. And wedding cards that held the $$ gift.

I was digging through the hello bluebird instagram to get ideas for older sets I have, and saw them from almost the beginning of their feed. At least 2 yrs, I think.

That’s a good point, too, but that is less important to me, especially if I want the reverse of the image. I need to use my fingernail to eliminate that pressed edge sometimes. An electronic cutter can adjust the size, reverse the image, and adapt a cutting file in other ways. The dies are limited to one size only with no adaptations of any kind. I often create and cut my own unique designs with my Cameo, which cost me nothing but time. There are advantages and disadvantages to each when comparing dies vs. electronic cutters. It’s why there is a market for both.

Oh I definitely like my cameo When DS & I watched the SpaceX launch I found a coloring page for the dragon rocket, imported it, traced it, erased some of the details, shrunk it down to 3/4” and cut it for my planner I also cut out the nasa ‘worm’ logo. It was way more work than a die but, I had fun doing it. Lol

I have been loving seeing all the slimline cards that people are making. I used to work in a wedding invitation store a long time ago and acquired a whole heap of slimline pre made cards when I left. I loved using them for Christmas cards and I really have no idea why I stopped making them in that size. I scrapbook in different sizes so why have I stuck to just the one size of card. I might have to dig out the last slimline bases that I have stashed away.

I feel like I'm usually up on crafting stuff, but when did slimline cards get popular? I'm feeling out of the loop. Ha! I am out-of-the loop too - and suddenly *BOOM*, I am seeing all types of slimline dies, papers, stencils and stamps by loads of companies that are suddenly listed on my favourite Australian online stores in the past fortnight. I have barely watched any card making videos since February so maybe the big-name card makers & companies have been making those sorts of cards & I just had no idea(?). Nope, I don't need to invest in a whole range of new products - and if I do decide to make a slimline card, I will use what I have to make it work.

I had a friend who was a bartender, she was asked what happens if a customer asks for a drink she doesn't know how to make. She said "I make it pink, I make it pretty, and I charge $20". I was thinking about this size card. All you have to do is come up with a new idea, or refurbish an old one, post it on-line somewhere in the proper interest zone, then direct your "followers" to it, and let your followers spread it around to all their followers, then you have "the next big thing". Fiskars sent 50 women (I was not invited due to some technical reason, I'm sure) to Texas and gave them a little sales pitch and a bunch of really nice tools. Those 50 went out and put on classes all across the country (I was invited to the classes) and gave out some instruction and gifted us some tools. We all got a number (mine is 3379 of 12,000+) and a pair of special scissors with green and orange handles. Fiskars flew off the shelves, and they won many marketing awards. They made them orange, made them pretty and charged us many times, and still do.

I've gotten so versed at it there are few images I can't do now on my Silhouette from line drawings on the internet (even the ones w/water marks).

I love the slim line cards! I can fit a lot more stuff on a slim line and I think the effect of that bigger card whether vertical or horizontal looks great. Plus they fit in a legal sized envelope! I like having options and there are a lot of great videos on YT of people making them! Just another option to have!
