I am so incredibly sad and scared for our country, her death is just tragic. Also sad for her friends and family, she was an incredible lady.

There must still be at least a few Republicans in the senate with an ounce of integrity - would only need what 4? I can only think of Mitt Romney who's broken with him, but surely there are a couple more. They've all either died or left the Senate.

Oh noooooooooooooo! No! RIP to an incredible woman who forged the way for women in the future. This is such a deep, incredible loss. She did fight for women's rights. She was so very tough and she fought a few different forms of cancer (while working out when she could, at age 87!!!). What an inspiration! She will be missed.

She has served us well! May she RIP. McConnell will probably pull back the Senate before their recess is over and try to ram a nomination through. In fact, if Bunker Boy wasn't at a rally now, I am sure he and Moscow Mitch would be maneuvering right now. No doubt they have already been on the phone!

Sad to lose such an icon but this is absolutely awful for America. This stupid fucking 4 year mistake is going to have fucked up impacts that harm our citizens for yeaaaaarrrrrsssss.
My heart also breaks considering she had to basically work to death because not enough people vote causing a power imbalance if she retired.

I don’t know, I can’t suppress the feeling that this hands the election to trump. Conservatives who might have otherwise been swayed by the anyone but trump argument will now vote for the sole purpose of whether there’s a conservative or a liberal in the vacant seat.

It’s not fair that so much was riding on that woman’s shoulders. Her death would be sad enough - she was such a remarkable woman - but to have her death be so tied to politics we’re not going to be able to mourn her like we should. And the fact that that disgusting POS is probably doing a jig right now makes me sick. So much this. How awful that she could not go in peace because I feel sure she knew what was at stake and held on as long she could.

My daughter went on a school trip to Washington, D.C. a while back and her class visited the Court while it was in session. They sort of filed them in and out quickly, but she saw RBG. I told her that she should never forget how lucky she was to be in the same space with a woman like that.

She was every superlative I can think of.
If Trump pushes somebody through before Biden is sworn in, I hope that Biden’s first thing to do is to expand the Supreme Court to 15 justices and then fill six slots With thinking judges. I don’t have to say liberal because any thinking judge is not going to be a conservative asshole.

We will have to see if Republicans think it is more beneficial for them to use this as a reason for people to vote for Trump, or if they think it is better for them to put someone in now. They are all bastards so it’s a toss up as to what they do.
Eta that I can’t decide if it is better for Democrats if he puts someone in now or if he waits? Depends how many people will vote for him simply because of the Supreme Court seat or not. Not that I want him to choose who goes in that spot, but I don’t know if it is more detrimental that he be re-elected or the SC pick goes to him. Or both.

I think Murkowski is on record that she would not agree with pushing a nominee through, as McConnell's position on Merrick Garland set a precedent. Hopefully, some threatened Senators in Democratic districts would also resist or at least delay so they don't take the full hit(Susan Collins).
