Their *craft* IS the people they treat. Without people to treat, they have nothing. For a very select few, their *craft* is the beauty of the work (surgeries) that they do and how beautiful the the procedure went, how nice the healing was and the better quality of life that the person has. Yes, they need the people to do the work on, but consider the people as a canvas so to speak. I have medical/surgical friends and I have been told that they don't think of their patients as "people" but as "cases". I know what you mean, I just think it’s an awful approach to the profession.

Your appointment must have been so stressful. I’m so sorry that you are dealing with all of this.
You need a new primary dr ASAP. I know it’s just one more thing on a long to-do list, but if you avoid this dr and don’t trust her advice, she isn’t doing you much good.
What are the negative reviews saying? That the specialist has a horrible bedside manner or that he didn’t do his best to make the patient better? That he unnecessarily caused stress and worry, or that he’s a jerk? Does he return phone calls, does his staff drop the ball? Those are the concerns that I would have. I’ll agree that surgeons often don’t have the best ability to interact with patients. But they are usually brilliant and get the job done, which is what you want.
I wish you only the best!

I understand why you didn't want to begin looking for a new doctor, but I think you're right. It's past time. I hope you are quickly able to find a doctor who listens well.

That is terrible! I would definitely be switching doctors. Not at all what you need now. She should not be risking people's lives based on her personal beliefs.

This makes me so sad. Your physician has been sucked into a cult and is completely uncaring. My dh is a physician who wears a mask all day long without any complaints and has mentioned several times to me lately about how stressful COVID is for his patients, and how much more anxiety he is seeing now.
You are going through 3 terribly stressful life events right now. You're not only grieving the loss of your husband, but you don't have his support for dealing with your health issues. I'm so sorry.
Please, don't go back to this doctor again. Find another primary care doctor who will wear a mask, be sympathetic to all you have going on right now, and help you find a good surgeon within your network. It sounds like this doesn't have to be super-rushed. You deserve to have a doctor who has good judgement, is empathetic, and gives his/her patients the best possible care.

This is crazy. Between the mask and some of the things she said makes me wonder what other questionable decisions/ advice she has given to her patients. I’d consider reporting it to the state licensing board. I am so sorry you had to experience that!

I am shocked that she and most of her staff aren’t wearing masks. Even more shocked that she went off and was so rude about it! Like you really need that BS at a difficult time like this! She sounds like a piece of work! I would leave a review for her, so that other people are aware of this!
I am in Roseville and would appreciate knowing this doctor’s name, so I know who to avoid now and in the future!

I seriously cannot even!
You are in Sacramento!! California!! You should have dozens upon dozens of great doctors there. Not crazies like your PC doctor!!
I am in the South. My town is the center for a lot of doctors. I am shocked that there are a few doctors who believe like yours, but I know a great majority of the doctors and they are all super liberal and wear masks and believe in social distancing, etc. In the South!!! Not in liberal CA!
UGH! Good luck to you!

Get. a. new. doctor. STAT!!!! I see everyone's posts about getting a new doctor. SweetieBugs has lost her husband (I think suddenly, if I remember correctly and young), has pre-cancer and is in the middle of a pandemic. I'm not sure about everyone else's neck of the woods, but getting a new doctor around my parts can take at MINIMUM 3 months. That's if you're lucky and you find someone who is taking new patients. It is not easy at all. She is trying but in the meantime she has to take care of some very important issues and cannot switch doctors.

You aren't far from Stanford. Have you considered calling their breast care center? If I were high risk I would see the best of the best for state of the art treatment. I'm sorry that you have this awful doctor on top of your condition and the fear that accompanies it.
Really Red, ITA w/what you're saying. However, in this case they might rush things due to the biopsies. Then again, I don't settle. I go to the biggest wigs in my area, because I don't leave anything to chance.

My insurance company offers care coordination I believe many/most do. In this instance I would be calling for support. one: to report this experience with this doctor and two: to have assistance with getting into a new doctor in a timely manner.

I get it, but she is near Sacramento and California requires masks. Our Targets, Costcos, etc. require masks. A doctor that does not wear a mask here has to be on the fringe. Not to mention that there is growing evidence that covid is airborne, a doctor that scoffs at masks is dangerous at best:

I'm so sorry! What a rubbish time you've had recently. Her attitude is awful for any of her patients in your situation. I hope you find a better doctor ASAP. And all the best with the referral. It might be better than you think - people are much likely to give bad reviews than good. It might be one person on the team who is abrasive and if you get good care then that might be worth it. Fingers crossed for you.

OMG. That is a horrible doctor experience! I'd be tempted to report her to the state board.
I'm sending up a prayer you find better medical support and have great results.

OMG. That is a horrible doctor experience! I'd be tempted to report her to the state board.I'm sending up a prayer you find better medical support and have great results. not just tempted- DO it! Why just 'tempted' or 'possibly' report her? From what's been said about the area you live in, that doctor is NOT following the state / local requirements. Not to mention NOT following good SCIENCE. She has to know that acting in such an irresponsible manner could / would cost her patients and get her in trouble with the medical regulating agencies. I also agree with calling your insurance company to ask for assistance for a referral, as well as (possibly) reporting her to the insurance company. If that doctor gets people sick, the insurance company will have to shell out $$$ for treatment they otherwise wouldn't have had to. The insurance company has a financial stake in the situation.

I would report the doctor to the state medical board.
Every part of your office visit was unacceptable.
