About a year ago, one very near me had closed and the owner said someone had bought her inventory and might open somewhere else.
After reading this thread, I was reminded to look and see if that happened.
While I can't find that shop, I found another about 30 min away that I never heard of before!

I have one about ten minutes from my house. We also have Michael’s. In the large city about two and a half hours away there are three or four. I don’t go just to shop those stores, but if we are there or are driving through I usually try to hit at least one of them.

I am fortunate to have one close by. She's a very small store so doesn't always have what I want, but she is always open to carrying new lines or special ordering. I am willing to pay full retail to help keep her in business, but I also shop quite a bit online if there is a good sale (hello Spellbinders clearance sale).

I am about 90 minutes from a scrapbook store. There is a fabulous giant craft store with a great scrapbook section about an hour away. I am not visiting stores in person, but I have placed online orders from both of those "local" stores. Are you by moorhead?

There used to be several amazing stores within 30 minutes of me back in the day. Now the closest one is about an hour away. Occasionally, it will be "on the way" to a travel destination, so I'll pop in. And I've ordered from them a few times during Covid to help support. (There is a Michael's, Joann, and Hobby Lobby in my city.) I often dream of opening my own LSS, which I realize is economically cray, but it just sounds so fun to see and sell all the product and cultivate a local community.

Yes, there is one within 20 minutes or so. They actually have even more during the pandemic than I recall before! They even expanded their hours onto the weekends which was a complaint. More tools of all kinds and specialty stuff, a million stamps and dies from so many popular brands. They must have a very strong stamping clientele. They don't always have all the brands and lines I personally would pick, (again, card making themes may be their biggest sellers), but what they do select seems to fit the local market really well. Lots of Echo Park and Carta Bella I'm pretty sure, but they seems to buy all brands. I am so glad they are not only still opening, but they seem to be working hard to expand their offerings even more!
There is a mega craft store with a HUGE scrapbooking section within it about 70 minutes away? They do have online ordering.

Mine is about an hour away. Scrapbook Station in Butler PA. They will do mail order (always have). They are open, with masks. And you now take a number if other people are in line to check out. They also have virtual shopping where an employee will walk around the store with a phone. They will ship your stuff to you or you can pick it up. I think the their customer service and the way they adapt is what has kept them in business.

Not really. There are some stationers and art supply stores that carry some papercrafting supplies, but no proper LSS. We do have a stamping store - it's small and not cheap, but they are the real deal for stampers. Do you mean The Ink Pad, or Casey's? I love both but you're right, neither are cheap. I wish we had a proper LSS here. I don't remember what Paper Presentation's new name is, but I REALLY miss their scrapbooking section! I used to go there all the time but now almost all of it is gone, and I no longer have a reason to spend money there.

I am very fortunate to have the new(ish) Frank Garcia Studio in Upland, CA not far from me. It’s a beautiful little store and I go by every now and then for the latest and greatest.
Unfortunately another store that is near me, Hearts and Crafts in Covina had to close their doors once the pandemic hit. She is still operating online and with virtual classes, so I hope it works out. They were in business for about 25 years, one of the last LSS holdouts.

Maryland has one scrapbook store left...Photoscraps. I’m twenty minutes away and the owners and staff are wonderful. They special order anything I want, lots of classes, make and take cards, new stuff daily.

It’s nice to see that there are so many of you relatively near at least one LSS.
For me, 30 minutes to drive to any LSS would be acceptable, if the store had enough products to make it worth the trip.
I also miss being able to shop at stamp stores. The last stamp store that was within an acceptable distance apparently closed right about the time I moved here.
I really miss living near the LSS. Eventually I’ll need to make the 1.25 hour drive again to visit the really good one. Maybe I’ll make it a day long road trip and visit all of them.

I’m 30 min from a stamping store which has a great selection of stamps, paper, dies and mixed media, but generally not my simple style. The limited hours have always been impossible for me, but was in that section of town after an appointment this past Friday. So I went for the first time in years, hoping to support a local business for a couple 12x12 ring albums. I was the only customer, and they had the standard virus protection steps in place so I felt comfortable. No luck with albums, but I did find the ColorPlay New Normal kit. And Simple Stories Flipbook inserts. My cousin briefly ran a crop space with a store years ago just as digital was taking off. I didn’t even find out it’s existence until she was closing. Does your local store special order? Albums is one thing my local store ( which is also a stamping store ) doesn't really carry. The ones at the big box stores are too cheap and with sales and coupons it undercuts her on getting them off the shelf if she does stock them. She will happily special order those or anything else tough.

Casey is too pure for me - I'm not that artsy-cool, and I use *shhh* clear stamps. And, oh, wow, Paper Presentation - I used to see a doctor in that neighborhood, and I'd always stop in to that store. It's been years, though. I also loved Kate's Paperie - it was too expensive, but just looking at all the gorgeous handmade papers made me happy.

I am very, very lucky and have three pretty close by to me. The one that is the closest is around the corner from my work and about 10 minutes from my home. It's beautiful store and has so much stock but they are very heavy on he shabby chic and altered projects and that is so not my style, I occasionally go in there for things I have run out of and need asap in my lunch break.
The second store is also 10 minutes away but in a weird location and has funny opening hours, they don't seem to carry a lot of up to date/new stock but whenever I am in the area I have a look around.
The third store is my favorite, its about 20 minutes away. They sell a huge variety of stock, have a big turnover and sell brands that I use. The store is bright, clean and uncluttered, they hold lots of different classes and destashes a few times a year.
I also have 3 Kaisercraft stores within 30 minutes drive of me, I haven't been to the 2 newest ones that have opened but I used to buy an absolute ton of stuff from them from an old store they had. They used to have great clearance prices and I would buy stacks of cardstock and pattern paper for cheap, the last few times I have been I have not bought anything much.
There is a few more stores that are around, one is about 30 minutes away, my old store from where I used to live is about an hours drive away and is still going strong. I know that on the south side of town there is a number of stores still open but I generally don't venture over that side of town much so I haven't checked any of them out. There used to be quite a few more open and as sad as I am that they shut as they were someone's business I am very, very thankful for the great stores that I do have around me.

I actually went there recently to take some photos of the new shop for Anna, she loved them and I hope she shares some soon!

10 minutes away. She now takes appointments to shop. I'm not sure how she has managed to stay open but I know she has a loyal customer base so that's probably it. Can I ask where this one is located? The closest one to me closed a couple of months ago and it was about 45 minutes from me. It wasn't COVID related, she just retired. The only one that I am aware of in Colorado is in Colorado Springs, if it is still there. I don't get up there much.

There is a fabulous giant craft store with a great scrapbook section about an hour away. Oh man....I would love to get over there. Can't do it right now, but when I can...I am going to buy whatever paper my little heart desires! (my one tiny complaint with this store is that there isn't a crop room that is just open. I'd love to hang out there for the day!)

There is not an LSS near me but within 20 minutes is Michaels, Joann, Hobby Lobby, Tuesday Morning, Craft Warehouse and a local pharmacy with a nice scrapbooking section. I've gone in there for trimmer blades or adhesive in a pinch. They carry nice products but I don't need ANYTHING! I can see myself buying 12x12 yardstick in there by the sheet if I just needed a page to 2.

I am happy to hear it's still there! What is the store that is still open in the Cities? There isn't exactly a scrapbook store in the Twin Cities: Anchor Paper (Plymouth location is the only one open, Roseville is still closed due to the pandemic) carries a lot of paper, ribbon and scrapbooking supplies, but it is pretty limited in brand and their main brand is Echo Park for scrappy supplies. That said, they have tons of stamps and ink, and their ribbon section is to die for. We had Crafter's Haven, but sadly they closed. (before pandemic) Pine City Scrapbooking Company is about 40 min north of the cities, in Pine City. It's amazing. That's all there is to say! Craft's Direct, in St. Cloud is awesome too. There was a scrap store in Jordan, (very small) and one in Walnut Grove. If I missed something, someone let me know! Other than that, it's JA, M's, Tuesday Morning for the Twin Cities proper.

The nearest LSS is an hour away. We do have Ms and Js about 30 minutes from my work for essentials like adhesive and cardstock. I've been doing most of my shopping online from my favorite brands and scrapbooking websites. Before Covid I did a lot of shopping at the Expo.
I have a large stash and need to start using it - my scrap room is full! I have a dear friend who says she buys whatever she wants when she sees it because she's afraid she won't be able to get anything in a few years.

I loved Scrapbooks, Too, until it closed. Anchor Paper in Plymouth has a lot of stuff right now, more than pre-pandemic I think. They have tons of stamps and coordinating dies (like Lawn Fawn, Hero Arts, Avery Elle, Waffle Flower, etc.), and also lots of tools and creating supplies. For lines they had many of the current fall and Christmas things from Echo Park, Carta Bella and Pinkfresh. Also some other birthday lines, woodsy lines, Shimelle Field Trip, Harry Potter line, some Crate Paper etc. (didn't look too close as that wasn't what I was after this time). They have an amazing quantity of stamping supplies and appear to be doing well! (TM is 5 minutes from here, but this store is MUCH much better IMO.)
