I just can't believe that someone would actually say some of these things on social media (or anywhere for that matter). I am just baffled. Link to article

Wow. I think that the people that were responding to his hash tag sound like jerks. Weight loss is a very personal thing. I don't think that him posting his success with weight loss is shaming other body types. I simply see it as celebrating a success and hopefully inspiring others.
His responses to said criticism? Totally out of line and over the top. The suicide comment was particularly horrible.

Whoa..anger management time dude. You'd be angry too if you were hungry! Very good point Janice! I am like the before in a Snickers commercial. I'm not famous and don't tweet, so I just take my anger out on those local to me!

HIs response was way over the top!I wonder how many people just said basically "hey did you know that hashtag is used in eating disorder circles, is that really your intent?" I get he is happy he lost weight and it is a tremendous accomplishment, but being "thin" doesn't mean you get to be a really mean person. Especially when you are famous for gluttony to begin with.

Wow, as I tell my kids "It is ok to be mad, it is not ok to be mean." The people responding to him were over reacting, but his responses were just down right nasty. I am glad Travel Channel is taking such swift action.

What an asshole. And he always seemed like such a personable guy on his show. I was reading about this yesterday, and apparently this wasn't the first time he'd invited someone via social media to off themselves

Gah! I hate when people criticize you for something positive. The commented was an ass. But his response was over the top and if he can't see that in the moment, then he has issues.

i think most people have the ability to say some over-the-top mean shit i've seen it on the boards jaw-dropping things from people we'd never suspect i also think it's shitty that he got reamed for using a hashtag - unaware of it's implications i probably do that shit too
the thing with celebrities is that they are in the spotlight 24/7 and they don't have the luxury of forgetting that
and really... for a guy that make a living gorging himself...to lose weight is pretty awesome
i hope it blows over quickly for them - i don't think his transgressions are being hogtied and beaten!

His responses were uncalled for as was his use of the word "thinspiration". Taking the show off the air was the right choice. Public personas don't get to pull that kind of shit and damage the brand.

WHOA!! That is so horrible stuff. I heard a little about this on the news this morning, but not the full extent. After a stint in an anger management class I think Adam needs to live by the "don't hit send" rule!!
Those things he said are just horrible!!

I get he is happy he lost weight and it is a tremendous accomplishment, but being "thin" doesn't mean you get to be a really mean person. Especially when you are famous for gluttony to begin with. I have to be honest - I would have not known that "Thinkspiration" was used in eating disorder circles. I would have thought it was a clever hashtag. I would have hoped if I had made a mistake like that, people who truly know me would have told me nicely that I used the term inappropriately. I would have been MORTIFIED - but would not have ever responded like that!!!! He was over the top and totally crossed a line. If he made an innocent mistake with the hashtag, that was one thing, but his responses were ugly and cruel and definitely not an accidental mistake there!

My daughter is tired of hearing me tell her "actions have consequences." This is another perfect example. We are very fortunate to have the right to free speech here as well as the means to broadcast that free speech far and wide thanks to social media. I really believe a lot of people put things out there in the heat of the moment without taking a nano second to consider any potential ramifications. I've typed out many a facebook comment or message board response and then deleted without posting after reconsidering.

If he wants to be a jerk....fine...pay the consequence. I've also heard he's quite the diva when he goes to eating establishments and not very nice. I also have to say that I hate competitive eating......gross!

I don't understand why people were railing on his use of the hashtag. That said, his retorts were out of line. Because #thinspiration is used by people who want to glorify eating disorders. It is fair that he may not have known that, but he should have said "Oh wow, I didn't realize it could be triggering, I'm sorry." and moved on. Not told someone to "grab a razor and draw a bath, I doubt anyone would miss you."

I completely understand inadvertently using an offensive hashtag - I didn't know the background on "thinspiration".
What I don't understand is his reaction - if you're a public person, and you put stuff out there, you have to be prepared for negative, even attacking responses. Either post a genuine apology for your initial post (something like "I apologize for posting an offensive hashtag, and appreciate you pointing it out to me - I've removed the post") or roll your eyes and ignore it.
I really don't understand what people think they are going to accomplish by posting things like he did in response to his critics...

Gosh, if a man doesn't have the right to keep his own television show just because he tells a fan to slash her wrists, what rights does he really have left? Whatever is America coming to?

I'd still be sitting trying to figure out what DILLIGAF means if they didn't explain it so not getting a hashtag is understandable.
The razor blade thing was way out if line.

I was blown away when I heard this yesterday. He seems like such a fun, goofy guy. That's like a Mel Gibson level meltdown right there. I really wanted to hear that it was a hoax and someone hacked his account.
