I usually am quite grounded. I find myself looking for "signs" at this point to predict the election results I would like. Tonight I was peeling my nail polish off and said to myself, "If I can peel a large piece of polish off my candidate will win". Or, "If they call by 2:00, I will get the job". "If I hear back by Wednesday my test results will be benign." This is NOT political in any way. My results were not definitive and subject to my interpretation. Please affirm that I am not the only one who does this. If not, I will slink off and never to be seen or heard from again. No, that is not going to happen.

Lol! I don’t look for signs. I can be a little superstitious about a few things, for instance things have to be done a certain way or bad luck will happen, but I don’t look for signs.

I will admit to knocking on wood when it's available so as not to jinx myself or others, but lots of times there's nothing made of wood around and I just go on with my day.
I don't really look for other signs, but there are lots of people who do. I broke a small mirror once and my college roommate asked why I wasn't upset about 7 years of possible bad luck.

I’m superstitious out of habit, not belief. I knock on wood, cross my fingers, don’t put new shoes on the table, I throw spilt salt over my left shoulder. A hairdresser yesterday reminded me you shouldn’t use scissors on a Sunday. However I deliberately will put an umbrella up inside, walk under a ladder (having checked there’s no one up it), step on the cracks in the pavement. I do have my own idiosyncrasies; packets must be opened from the top always, none of this random upside down opening, and clothes have to be hung correctly on the line - tops from the bottom and bottoms from the top.

No. When I was very young (like 10) I remember thinking "I have to wash my hands 3 times or XX will happen" and having to turn a light switch on and off a certain number of times before it felt "right"...and realising even at that young age that wasn't right and kind of forcing myself to stop. Much later I realised this could have been the start of OCD so I'm very grateful to the little voice in my ten year old brain that helped me let go of these thoughts.

I’m superstitious out of habit, not belief. That's a good way of putting it I do a few superstitious things but not many.

I’m not really superstitious, no. But I do have tendencies, especially regarding sports. If I notice my team scores every time I leave the room then I might stay out of the room until that’s no longer true. Just for fun, I don’t really believe my actions have anything to do with the result of the game.

No. That said, I'm very careful when I walk under ladders or put umbrellas up indoors, because of the safety aspect, which I'm sure is why those superstitions arose in the first place. I've got much more literal as I've got older. craftykitten I did a similar thing a a child - I can remember walking up and down the stairs for exercise and if I turned around to the left on one journey, I would have to turn right on the next, and if I did something with one hand one time, I would use the other the next time etc. But that wasn't from superstition, it was an instinct to keep my personal equilibrium.

I thought I was the only one. I've never heard anyone else say that. Like, "we'll definitely know something by the time this roll of paper towels is gone." Or "if X happens, current issue will all work out as we are hoping." I don't think of it as being superstitious though. Maybe more as a marker of time while you're waiting for something to happen that has no known time frame? Or a way your mind is subconsciously thinking positively for a moment while you wait for a certain outcome on whatever the current issue is?

Not in the slightest. And I like to freak my superstitious friends out by deliberately walking under ladders and opening umbrellas indoors, and saying things that they think is a jinx.

My grandmother was superstitious. If I do any of the things she did, it's because I'm holding her in my heart.
She was my father's mother. One time she noticed the hem on my mother's dress was turned out, so she spit on it to ward off bad luck. My mother was appalled ! She was ranting about that one for decades

I don't think I am. I do think I have terrible luck.....if I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck type of thing.

I just don’t get any of it, and I’ll definitely walk under a ladder just cuz. There wasn’t a lick of superstition in my family of origin and then I married into a superstitious family that produced a son who observes silly sports superstitions - where wins/losses actually depend on what HE does. I mean, c’mon: you actually believe that if you put a White Sox bumper sticker on your car, the team will lose? If there is a reason why the United States government should stop granting you a security clearance, it is this.

I am not superstitious in the slightest.
My husband is though. The man has all sorts of weird quirks related to superstition.
I believe in randomness. Not coincidence.

I'm not superstitious, but DH seriously is. Heaven help me if I put a hat on the bed or open an umbrella inside! His car always has X shaped finger marks on the inside of the windshield - we have a couple of escape expert black cats in the neighborhood and apparently that wards off whatever happens if a black cat walks in front of you, who knew?
DD is a big believer in signs. Years ago she was trying to decide whether or not to continue working on her Masters in Education. Driving down the road she was praying for a sign to help her decide. A car cut right in front of her, on the back of that car was a bumper sticker that said "Educate our children". She called me to tell me she had seen her 'sign'. Back to school she went.

no, i am not superstitious BUT i am the one who always has to mull over "worst case scenario" just so i am "prepared". and i consider that my mental good luck charm, because if refuse to even CONSIDER worst case scenario, that will happen for sure.
i don't dwell on it, i don't assume the worst, but i do force myself to consider it, just as a matter of course.
so i don't know what you would call that?!? maybe i am superstitious?

Just for sports and just out of fun not true belief.
My Steelers are 7-0, and I have worn the same outfit every game. In fact, I panicked (in jest) yesterday because my shirt hadn't been washed (not washing clothes as often since I am in quarantine with this stupid virus).
Hubby got it washed and dried for me before the game ( even though he says I am not a true fan since I actually wash it every week haha). Glad it worked.
Here we go! On to 8-0 next week!

Not even a little bit. Some of the things mentioned could control lives. I include religions in that, many of which have some truly wacko beliefs.

Oh good, I thought I was the only one who did this. I hate it! I've been trying to consciously change this inner dialog. I'm also superstitious in that I will knock on wood-which is normally my head & throw imaginary salt over my shoulder. It appears I am all kinds of messed up.

I don't look for signs.
But there are times I'll say something, and then immediately find some wood to knock on.
