This is what boggles my mind in interactions with people who voted for him too. One "friend" (and I am currently using that word loosely) said to me today, "I just hope Biden knows what that red button on his desk is for." OMG - seriously? I couldn't even talk to her after that. You think Temper-tantrum-Trump has a better idea? He seems more like the kind of toddler who pushes every button just to see what it does. If your ideas about Federal spending don't line up with Democrat's ideology - I can get that. And we can have a discussion about that. But these people who hold up this name-calling bully as a "leader" have lost my respect. Are these people seriously forgetting that Biden has had 8 years experience as a VP. He will fit into the White House and the West Wing far quicker and easier than Trump ever did.

There won't be live audience, will there? Yes, there will be a "limited" live audience at the game and who knows how many bars and tailgates. Welcome to the south where football is life.

I think Boris will get on fine with Biden. Whatever one might think of Boris, I don't think he was ever a " friend" of Trump although Trump seem to think he was. I don't think he has so much to worry about with Biden or whoever he picks as his administration. When a country and the World has had four years of Trump, NATO has been weakened. Tyrants have been emboldened. Global security and markets can hinge on an ill-tempered tweet or a childish like tantrum and on it goes, it destabilize everyone and then you have the most important of all for any relationship between two countries - trust. If you can't trust your allies who can you trust? Boris might have looked corl towards Trump but the British are known for their diplomacy I’m not particularly a fan of Boris, but I think you’re probably right - a lot of that is diplomacy. Plus a healthy dose of “don’t piss off the unstable yank with the nuclear codes”, sadly.

I continue to believe that Trump's issues at the podium come from the fact I'm not sure if he can read. I do have experience teaching children who have reading difficulties and many of the things he does, I see older students do when they are aware that they have an issue but are trying to compensate for that. I think he gets the jest of his speech given to him and then wings it. I feel like he uses some strange strategies to find key words and then goes on tangents. There is no way that the speech he delivered yesterday was written. i don't think he can read either. i don't think that is much of a secret anymore especially when he is constantly filmed mispronouncing words and struggling with the teleprompter. when i hear about adults who can't read, i am reminded of my last few days of junior high. everyone was signing yearbooks and i noticed a girl copying phrases from from a slip of paper in her hand. i had classes with this girl for 3 years and she was the nicest person. in hindsight, i remember her doing group homework a lot. As in, she was copying her homework from others and never sharing her own work. i think people let her copy because she was so nice. i think this is how she hid her illiteracy. still blows my mind to this day.

I my house I have a transgender and gay son. My husband cannot wrap his brain around it despite me explaining that we don’t need to understand it. It JUST IS. So the fight really centered on LGBTQ I sent him an article from the human rights commission which he refused to read. I said how can you claim to love me or my child if you won’t even discuss the issues with me. If you won’t learn. He then called Obama the n word which my son heard. I said now I’m out because I’m not raising my kids in a house that uses that word. Under any circumstance. He’s since apologized but I’m sick to my stomach today. He wants to claim ignorance on the issues but if my adult children do that, he gets mad. He’s allowed to be an ignorant voter but god forbid my 18 yo vote democratic because she surely doesn’t know anything. I’m still pretty upset. I knew it would come to this if i ever voiced my opinions. Afterward my son thanked me for standing up for what’s right. I'm catching up on 7 hours of posts, but I couldn't pass this without saying that my heart breaks for you. I hope your husband genuinely realizes the error in his thinking and educates himself even if that still leads to a future without you.

Should we take bets on when we will see the Orange Menace live again? My husband said they will have to use horse tranquilizers on him before they let him speak again, BTW my husband claims he is a Republican, but voted for Biden this time. He is even more upset about the Donald’s nonsense the past 4 years because he says he is ruining his party. (Personally, I think my husband is a Democrat at heart- it is only the military and gun component he is clinging too. He is pro choice, pro marriage equality, pro environment, pro social programs, etc. just don’t tell him that he is leaning more Democratic then Republican.) You husband illustrates what is at the core of why these things happen, IMO. A. Nobody trusts or likes Democrats. IMO, Minority voters and rural GOP voters actually have a lot of the same core fears, manifesting, to use the Harry Potter universe, as different Bogarts: Democrats will not help me. B. A bi-product of the lack of trust is that all Americans find the rhetoric coming from their tribe easy to believe. So on the far left, it's Biden can't be progressive, Kamala has betrayed the black community, etc. On the right it's things like Democrats don't want a strong military or guns, and on the far right it's all the socialism crap. I just read your additional post about the parents. So I can see the emotional rebellion, "I will not be my parents!" People are out of their mind over, why 70 million people can vote for Trump. But when you believe both sides will screw you over, how much does character really matter? Pragmatically, you look for what they will choose in their best interest that is also in your best interest. So for a lot of people, you pick the side that will lower taxes, you pick the side who will reopen the economy, you pick the side that will put troublemakers in their place. Or at least that side isn't as actively trying to murder me. People are looking for scraps of whatever they can find, because then at least you get something, and they don't believe what the other side is offering, will actually be given. And like I posted, earlier about life as a zero sum game, people believe that if "people like them" are being helped "people like me," aren't. Or, "I am nothing like them, how can what helps them, possibly help me?" Other minority / rural GOP comparison I am comfortable making is that both are trying desperately to hold onto what they have because they feel like they have so little, and are scared to death of having even less. And everyone suffers from the same deeply engrained American trait, "Nobody, but nobody tells me what I should do." Some may be better at recognizing when we getting that rise, about doing something we don't want, but the dang thing needs to get done anyway. I say these things knowing how likely it is to piss off one side or the other who in their heart of hearts believe they are NOTHING like those crazy people! Unfortunately, we, and the rest of the world, have a lot of class warfare that are wrapped up to look like other things. But it's the same merry-go-round: plebs vs patricians, proletariat vs bourgeois, etc. and as long as the "haves" can keep the "have nots" at each other's throats, they won't come for them. I'm rambling again. But I am worried about the widening chasm coming from "how could they vote for him!" and assigning things like bigotry and ignorance. When there is also fear, desperation, pragmatism survival for their family. What is motivating one side is motiving the other just manifesting differently.

I’m a huge football fan that doesn’t at all agree with this season. This is one of my favorite games and you couldn’t pay me enough money in the world to go this year.

I literally fell asleep in my seat 7 hours ago and dragged myself off to bed. So excited to wake up to PA news! And am I right that we have the Senate as well? Can someone give my a brief synopsis on what I missed?
I was having a virtual election party (still restrictions in Melbourne with people in your home) with some friends last night as we tracked every vote. Now starting to plan our inauguration party! So, so, so happy this morning! Well done Americans - you did it!

In front of the elections dept of Maricopa County right now (illustrating @dottyscrapper 's point): The cognitive dissonance. I just can't. "Stop the count!" yesterday and now "Count our votes!" How do they deal with constant whiplash like that? Edited: Can't find the right video of the moment on NBC News yesterday when the armed protestors showed up at Maricopa County. Sorry. But it happened live with Gadi Schwartz as I was watching the stream.

Don’t blame them, I wouldn’t show up either and be subjected to his tantrums. He’s a lot like my friends ex, he’s unpredictable and when he’s that way he’s violent.

Both Democrats and Republicans are filing some sort of legal recourse on Sharpiegate in Maricopa County (or Arizona, not sure), apparently on how the use of Sharpies was confusing.

This is the first thing I read this morning and I almost spit out my coffee. And I don't drink coffee. Greta Thunberg @gretathunberg · 20h So ridiculous. Donald must work on his Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Donald, Chill! She's repeating his Tweet about her earlier in the year. Well done Greta! I know. That is what made it so delightful!

Well heck, my kids are going to expect dinner in another 10 minutes and I really needed some closure on this... Friday night is pizza night and I was looking forward to eating a celebratory feast with a knife and fork in honor of the newly elected President 😂 Damned if I will be the one to jinx this!
I have verified with DH that we still have some leftover fireworks in the garage from July 4th and fully plan on putting on our own Independence Day show when they finally make the call!

Don't they still have a country to run?
I was watching Omarosa Newman being interviewed on Sky News and she said many of them will already be scrambling to find new jobs . I think she said about 3,600 admin and senior staff will be out of work if/when Trump leaves. She also said one of her contacts in there said Trump was barking and shouting at people to ‘sort this out’ etc. Not sure I’d want to be anywhere near him right now!

It was a stupid ass video that I think was made up that started this AZ sharpie gate shit. People in Arizona are pretty pissed about the attorney general flaming this more instead of curbing it. They can go to hell. We are not turning back to red
