I will donate. Someone said that winning Georgia ends Mitch McConnell's reign. If this is what it takes, then here, take my money.

Yes, if both Ossoff and Warnock win, the Senate will be tied (assuming Independents side w Democrats). Vice President Harris will be the tie-breaker. McConnell could no longer obstruct/hold up legislation as long as all things go well. It’s not a guarantee since Senators still have to answer to their constituents and Dems didn’t do nearly as well as hoped. If this is incorrect, please correct me and I’ll update! I see Georgia as a must-must win and have continued to send donations as I’m able. It will be hard to flip both seats in a red state, but Biden won decisively! Go Blue!!

In a split Senate, it’s the VP (as Senate President) who decides which party will be the majority. That party then has control over the agenda and bringing bills to floor vote.

Thank you Lizacreates! I learned something new today! I didn’t realize the VP would be the tie-breaker for which party is named the the majority. Now I understand how Schumer would become Senate majority leader.
I do enjoy learning about our system and the many nuances. Thanks again!

We’ve had a split Senate before when Bush (W) was president. But that was handled differently whereby both parties made an agreement to share power even though Cheney was the tie-breaker. With the animus in our current Senate, though, this is highly unlikely (especially after the GOP pushed through Barrett’s nomination). I foresee Harris not holding back on invoking her power as Senate President. Which is just fine by me. Let’s do it, Georgia!

The brothers are making great ads. I have donated to them. Has the Lincoln Project made any new ads? I do like Warnock! Ossoff has really done a great job against Perdue. They would really be wonderful additions to the Senate!! Doesn't hurt that they are both democrats!!

Ossoff wants to ban Congress from owning/trading individual stocks due to their privileged information positions. Yes, the SEC could prosecute insider trading, but w/someone like Trump at the helm, I'm guessing the SEC has been duly instructed on how to use their scarce resources and it ain't going after GOP Senators. Both of GAs GOP contenders have no issue buying and selling individual stocks and making millions. All right, Lincoln Project!! I thought they would bail when it came to the Senate races. That there was no way they'd back Dems for Senate.
I was wrong.
Well done, Lincoln Project!

I’m happy to see The Lincoln Project is still on board!
Question regarding donations - I receive frequent emails from organizations such as DSCC, Flip The Senate, Black Caucus, etc. saying my donation will be “triple matched” and used to elect Warnock and Ossoff.
Do you think it’s better to send donations directly to the campaigns or to larger groups such as the ones I mentioned?
The amount of money being spent on elections is insane. I’ve already started receiving solicitations for 2022 runs. I prefer supporting social services, but it was so important this time to help Democrats. Go Blue!

I don't know the answer to your question, but the email I just got wanted me to split my contribution between the candidate and the DNC. Is the DNC running ads for both democrats and that is why or are they banking it to use next cycle? Anybody know?

I don't know the answer to either of your questions. I am liking giving the joint donations. They are doing a lot of campaigning together. I like that they are getting equal dollars at least from me.
I do hope the matching funds offers are true.

How are they not in jail for insider trading??? Cleared by DOJ and Senate ethics committee. Well dis-barr-him is in charge of DOJ. McConnell has his hands in Senate ethics. Loeffler's dh owns the NY stock exchange or such!

How are they not in jail for insider trading??? Shhhhh! Don't make it so obvious that we know they broke the law. Yes, they were cleared by the DOJ and the ethics committee, but we know who is in control there. I hope this slips under the radar so Trump doesn't give them a pardon. There is no reason a new administration cannot investigate and bring charges of insider trading (and these two are not the only ones who should be targeted). The good news, though, is that even if he does pardon them, the SEC still has the right to bring a civil lawsuit for treble damages for insider trading, so all that money they earned from insider trades? Mulitply by 3 and deposit into the treasury. Civil actions are not subject to pardon. This is good because the IRS has civil penalties as well as criminal, and even if Trump pardons his whole family, the IRS can still pursue civil tax claims.

Talk about crooked. I really hope those 2 lose because both of them deserve to be in jail, not the Senate.
