Iowa here (people don't want to admit it, but we've become a red state)--no statewide mask mandate. The Republican governor refuses to issue one and even says that counties/cities can't issue them, but that hasn't stopped counties & cities from issuing them. I don't go to a lot of places, but most people wear masks when inside of stores. Restaurants are a different story as some wear them while walking around, but as soon as they are seated the masks come off. Our church asks that people wear them while not seated in the sanctuary, but most do not. This summer/fall I took my boys to the amusement park and an apple orchard--very few people wore masks when outside. Most schools started out just recommending masks, but now quite a few require them. DH's office requires masks if walking around or if you don't have your own office.
But then there are the small towns where mask usage drops dramatically. One town even has a convenience store that asks people to remove their mask.
I hate masks. I don't want to wear it. BUT I do. Our numbers have been skyrocketing so it will be interesting to see how things go in the next couple of months, especially now that the governor won't have the support of the White House (although there were people within the WH telling her something needs to change...and that was back in September).

I'm in a blue state (only a few counties are blue but the rest are red) but we have a republican gov. It's Larry Hogan who is very progressive and was one of the first to lock everything down in the state. We have also been very, very slow to open stuff back up. I'm independent but I like our gov. because he has been VERY vocal on the crap from the feds. A lot of people don't like him (who are in the red areas) and are screaming at him to lift the mandate but he has started calling people out on FB who are criticizing him. He tells them that they don't have to follow him and they should just go elsewhere. It's funny to read his responses. I rarely see anyone not wearing a mask. We had one statewide that began in May, I believe. I'm in the same state and I love Hogan! He's got the backbone to stand up for science here. I rarely go out, but when I do, most are wearing masks and stores are enforcing it. That being said, our numbers are creeping up again.

Are masks mandated? Our cases are out of control and the governor finally mandated wearing them. It should have been done a long time ago, but between this and Trump losing. Ugh!! I read in a Facebook group a couple of weeks ago a parent encouraging others not to get their kids tested.
I feel really bad for store owners. The governor said it was their job to enforce the rules. There are some diehard covid deniers in Utah.
Did you seriously just say that NOW your governor has mandated wearing masks?

Red state here. No mask mandate. Our city put one place, but no one will wear one and it's not enforced at all. And, with cases skyrocketing, now is when our company decides we need to start coming back into the office. Even though they keep saying it's very clear we're doing a good job and everything is being done beautifully. Why? ?

PA has a Democrat governor so yes, we have a mask mandate! I only wish they could enforce 100% compliance (and that means wearing it correctly). If people don't want to wear a mask, they have other options then putting all the shoppers at risk. I am so done with maskholes!

I forgot to mention, I went hiking on Saturday and we stopped for gas and drinks in a small rural town. I was in line behind a police officer who did not have a mask on (despite the sign on the door stating that it was a state law). Irritated the crap out of me. Oh those people put me in a bad mood for the rest of the day. If Trump won, then I would have to seek counseling for the extreme anger I get seeing people without masks. I feel if Trump won even the ones that wear them will stop.

Did you seriously just say that NOW your governor has mandated wearing masks? It was required briefly in the beginning, I can't remember how long. Then around May, no. Two counties had much stricter rules.

As others have already mentioned IN is a red state with a Republican governor but we have had a statewide mask mandate since July. Most people comply but there are always those few....I own a business and refuse to let anyone in without a mask. I’m tired of these people telling me it’s their right not to wear one.

Harris County Tx mandated masks April 27. Texas as as a whole mandated July 2. Been wearing them since March 24, when it was first publicly recommended by Fauci and several other ID doctors I know. Mandated is perhaps too strong a word, as virtually no one at the state or local level enforces the policy. I had to go into H-E-B today, though, and was pleased to see that everyone had a mask on. The last time I ducked into Kroger, there were a couple of very angry looking people walking around maskless.

My state (New Hampshire) is purple, but swung blue in the last few elections. Our Republican Governor has not issued a statewide mandate. Most stores require them and some towns have mandates. Our state motto is “Live Free or Die” and a lot of people really take that to heart. We don’t have a helmet law or a seat belt law either.
