For those who don't know Seth Andrews, he's a former Christian radio talk-show host who now, post leaving evangelicalism behind, has a fairly popular podcast and Youtube channel. He comments on evangelicals in America, speaking as a former dyed-in-the-wool believer.
He's also the author of 'Confessions of a Former Fox News Christian'
For non-American peas, this is a good overview of what we're faced with in America in huge percentages.

Ugh. These people are disgusting and their kooky behaviour deserves to be mocked. Scam-vangelists indeed. I can’t understand why there are so many people that fall for this crap!

I think, as a country you seriously need to find a way to de-radicalise these people. Their ideology is a threat to many. What is it that they find missing in their lives that take them down this mentally unhealthy step?
The Christian belief is shared by many all over the world and yet, it's mainly in America that you see such extreme ideology and their bizarre interpretation of the bible on such a large scale.

America is definitely an outlier in the wealthy nations regarding # of evangelicals per capita and beliefs that god is necessary to lead a good life. I hope we find a way to tack more closely to our European, Canadian, Australian siblings. But I don't know how we get there w/the level of irrationality and gullibility now rampant in our country. www.pewresearch.org/global/2020/07/20/the-global-god-divide/

It's something quite alien to a lot of Christians as I'm sure it is to " ordinary" Christians in America. I just can't understand how the ordinary person can be so gullible to be taken in by such extreme interpretation of their faith.

"I saw that he will be re-elected."
"I declare he will win again."
What happens when you're 'absolutely' wrong?
Nothing. The brainwashed have lost their ability to detect lies and false prophecy.

And these churches with these type of leaders think they are going to attract young people? No wonder young people are leaving organized religion in droves. I seriously pity people who's lives include spiritual leaders like those in the video.

I don't want to click on the link bc I don't want that kind of stuff following me around on YT or other places ... can you summarize his main points?
As a resident of the very buckle of the Bible belt, I see evangelical church members more as people who want to belong to a tribe (particularly one with some power) and less as individuals interested in the actual teachings and study and application of the religious texts.

Ugh. The way they mess up/misinterpret the meaning of the Bible drives me insane. And we do have these types in Canada. There is a decent number of them, too. We just make sure that we ignore them in our political parties. Well, except in Alberta. God gives us free will. So, they could still find a way, if they still wanted to insist that God would prefer Trump (because pro-life) to explain it. If they said that they believed that those Christians who voted for Biden weren't acting within God's will, I'd disagree and I'd be annoyed - but it would be a legit POV. I said the sane when Trump was elected (and like them, in my case I 100% believe I was right). The thing is, we don't get to know what God's will is. Or at least we don't get to DECIDE for God what His will is. We, who are Christians, pray, listen for the Holy Spirit to guide us, and live our lives. The Holy Spirit, to me, is like your conscience. Or that sense of intuition that points you in a certain direction, when it isn't something moral, where your conscience would come into play. For example, under non-Covid times, whether you stay in or go out isn't a matter of conscience. And there are times when I have chosen one or the other, or changed my mind, because of a nagging sense of, 'No, I should do X.' And then something happens and it seems to validate the choice. And yes, I get it could be coincidence. I choose to see it as God at work. I was raised to believe, that as a Christian, the right response from evangelicals should be, 'Hmmm I don't like Biden. Not my choice. And I will trust God to use this result to move forward His plan to further His kingdom, for God can use all things for good.'

I have to wonder how tired God is of these people who claim to speak for him.
The Bible is actually VERY clear about how world leaders are viewed by God, including Romans 13:1...
“Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.“
I believe God appoints our leaders. I have no idea what the hell those charlatans who try to pass themselves off as Christians are doing but it seems clear that it’s motivated by money. 🤢

I don’t love Jason Kenney but I’m pretty sure even he (a Catholic) would be shaking his head at these nutters. There may be a “decent number” of evangelicals in Canada but they have zero influence on our government policies.

People who think like this do exist in Canada, and the bulk of them seem to live in Alberta, and in the Bible Belt of BC.

This is what you get with the dumbing down of the education system and denial of science. These cult leaders don’t believe what they preach; they want power and money. Hypocrites and charlatans
