This is the older version since there is now an Explore Air 2. At this price, I am tempted to sack my old Expression and pick up the Air. I have a Silhouette, but I would love to still use all my Cricut designs (still on cartridges but I think I can add them to my Cricut library).
If you have one, or an Air 2, what can you tell me about Cricut customer service these days? If I buy it, will the software be obsolete in a year? I think this is the one that allows you to make your own cut files like the Silhouette, right? Or not? If I can't do my own cut files, I would at least need the ability to import Silhouette designs.
I would love to hear your thoughts!

You have always been a part of the heist. You're only mad now because you don't like your cut.

I still have my original Explore Air, and although I've had a few minor issues with it, I've been able to fix them myself. Cricut support is good - at least in my experience. I've had mine for over 5 years, and it's working so well that I'm having a hard time justifying a Maker. (It's on my wish list for Christmas.)
You can import your own SVGs and also design your own images. The software isn't as robust as Silhouette Studio, but I think it's easier to learn and use. You would have to convert the dxf Silhouette files into a compatible format (svg, png, jpg) if you wanted to use them. There is a slot on the Explore Air that will allow you to insert your cartridges and upload them into your library.
Bottom line: That is a great price, and I would snatch it up! Hope this helps!

The Rose Cricut maker is on sale on Amazon.fr for 329 euros (down from 439). I don't know much about Cricut machines. Could you help me please? Is it as good as a Silhouette Cameo 4? Better?

I would love to hear your thoughts! During the first few months into the pandemic, their customer service was not great. Lots of complaints from folks in the Facebook groups about hours long waits on the phone and days to hear back via chat or email. However, Cricut has been working to staff up since then. I submitted two requests to resolve issues (one in July and the other a week ago) on their website, and I heard back via email within 24 hours and had my issues taken care of, so I personally am satisfied with their customer service. I don't see Cricut Design Space going anywhere anytime soon, though people have been asking for improvements because its not as robust as Silhouette's design software. People complain about it crashing, I don't have those issues, but I use a fairly new laptop, so I don't know if this is an issue if you're trying to run Design Space through the phone or iPad apps. You can design your own files, but again, its not as robust as Silhouette's software. You can get around that though by purchasing Silhouette Studio's Business Edition, which will allow you to save your files as SVGs, which you can then export and cut out on your Cricut.

Thanks to everyone who responded. Looks like I need to set a phone alarm to remind men when the deal goes live!
I have a ridiculous number of cartridges (140+ counting the digital ones I bought before they stopped supporting my Expression). I have several licensed character cartridges and would love to use them again, but I spoiled with my Silhouette software LOL.
I look forward to using Hello Kitty again!

Joann has the Cricut Air2 for $179. Just phoned my sister and she grabbed hers about an hour ago. The price is great and it beats standing in line or waking up early.

So I think I have the original Silhouette Cameo. (!!) is it worth even attempting to use again? Or should I just start looking to moderinize my cutting machine? I honestly don't even know if it works. I took a hiatus from scrapbooking but am getting back into it and reorganizing/purging/updating my supplies.

Here you go! www.walmart.com/ip/Cricut-Explore-Air-Special-Edition/314909602 EDITED: So the direct link doesn't seem to work even though I just found it a minute ago. I found it by entering "Cricut Explore" in the search box at Walmart.com and it is the second result, "Cricut Explore Air Special Edition". I don't know why the direct link doesn't work. Perhaps because the sale isn't live yet? Anyway, it goes on sale at 7pm ET on Wednesday!

I really don't use it very much because I don't have room for it to hook it to my CPU...

Wondering if I should upgrade for the price as well - I have the E2 still and, like you, too many cartridges to count! I've always hesitated b/c I didn't want to be tied to having to use the software versus being able to use the machine without the laptop, etc. For these prices, I'm reconsidering that stance....so tempting!
here's the question - what are you doing with your older machines when you upgrade? I'm running out of room....have the original E, the E2 and I even have the Imagine, which I haven't powered-up in 3+ years....

I will probably donate it to our Residence Life department at the University. I know that my daughter's dorm has one already that they use for bulletin boards and door decorations, but I don't think every hall has one. I have quite a few blades left to donate with it as well, since I don't think those fit the new machine. They are off-brand because I couldn't find actual Cricut blades anymore. I think the dorms have to use the older machines because they can't have an account for each RA to use with the newer machines, and you don't want to rely on just one person who does have a Cricut account. And if they don't want it, I have a friend in the College of Education who can probably hook me up with a poor elementary ed major who would be happy to have it during student teaching. I have some older education cartridges that I am positive I will never use again, and even if I do need those designs at some point in the future, I will just purchase individual ones. I also have several duplicates that were gifted to me, and they are still new-in-box (Varsity Letter, Wildlife, the circus cartridge that I forget the name of, Stretch Your Imagination, and I think a couple of others), and I would give those away with the machine.

And a bunch of accesories on sale, that I promptly ordered when the GC was delivered to my email I tried to get to Target Monday and Tuesday, but work was crazy and I couldn’t get away. It wasn't available online or for store pickup, either. I finally got to a Target Wednesday morning, and the shelf was bare. 😢 However, the Target app said “limited availability,” so I figured I might as well ask customer service. When I showed the picture to the service rep, she immediately knew where to go. She said there was still a pallet in the back, and 5-10 minutes later I had a blue Air 2 and $30 gift card! Thanks to everyone for your help!

He didn’t know what it was - it was a $30 Target gift card. I told him they give those to you when you buy certain things. So I guess I know what I’ll be getting for Christmas! 😉 (He gave me the gift card, but maybe I’ll put it in my stocking!)

I just got a Cricut for Christmas, so I'm exploring all of the threads about them, and love that you might donate it to res life! I LOVED my days as an RA, and I cut out most of the things I did for bulletin boards and door tags by hand (here's a board of some of the ones I did). Most of the lettering was done with an old cranked machine (I don't even know what it was called.)

I just had to chuckle at this...It was called an accucut machine, or a die cutter, accucut.com/pages/die-cutting-machinesIt was the height of amazing when I started scrapbooking! I used to drive to a LSS that was 20 miles away just to use it, before Archivers opened. Your boards are awesome, they still have this machine in residence life at the university my DD attended.

Ours didn't even roll! It was a big block for each letter that we then had to press down to cut anything out. It sort of looked like an older model of this. And thank you! I loved that part of the job.
