Not sure why I can't get into the mood to scrap anymore... Just curious if anyone else ever thinks it would be better to just get rid of everything...

Not sure why I can't get into the mood to scrap anymore... Just curious if anyone else ever thinks it would be better to just get rid of everything... I do, especially right now. I'm stressed and I just can't get into a good headspace to scrap, even if I had the time. But then I try to imagine re-buying it all. GAHHHHHH!!!!! What's better for me is to shut the door on it all and come back to it when it feels new. When I do that, I try to clean first, so when I come back it all looks shiny and fresh.

Yes, partially. The thought of gathering it up and pricing is overwhelming. I was planning on doing a large purge and donating to a local crafty thrift store but they halted donations due to Covid.

Yep! Just posted a bunch of items on FSOT. I switched to cardmaking about five years ago so I have a lot of scrapbooking stuff I need to get rid of!

No, i’m more likely to be in the mood to buy everything!
(But I do purge periodically and move along things I no longer love.)

Sometimes I’m completely over scrapbooking too but I know I will always come back to it so too scared to let go. Lately I’ve been buying too much and not letting older things go. The house is slowly being taken over my all my supplies!

Not sell it all but I did do a major purge just before Covid hit. I gave a huge box of pattern paper and card stock in colors I won’t ever use along with a 1st generation Circuit machine and cartridges to a kindergarten teacher. Along with that there was a box of old foam stamps, die cuts and a ton of sticker sheets.

No, i’m more likely to be in the mood to buy everything! (But I do purge periodically and move along things I no longer love.) Even when I am not scrapping, I am collecting ideas on Pinterest and collecting supplies from everywhere. Never know when some new toys or supplies will "spark joy" !
But seriously, as my dgk's grow out of the various kiddy stages, and as family situations change and evolve, I DO have alot of supplies I probably will not be using. Probably SHOULD get rid of the baby stuff, the little girl stuff, supplies to scrap hobbies and traditions no longer practiced. I need to clean up my wet media which has sadly dried before I had a chance to use it all (or even use MUCH of it). Haven't used my Cricut Expression II in months, and purging that and the cartridges would open up a whole cabinet.
But purging takes time and energy and planning, all of which are work. So far, I am happier to just stay in here and play. Or at least keep the options to play open.

Not me.
Scrapbooking is my therapy. (even if I don't touch it for a couple/few months).
I haven't done much in a couple months, and a couple weeks ago started working on my scrapbook style journal(deconstructed my old one and redoing it mixed media style and adding a whole bunch to it), it makes my heart and soul feel good.

Yeah, lately I've been feeling overwhelmed by stuff (mostly not my stuff, but stuff I'm dealing with for someone else, a long term project) and it's been making me want to highly simplify everything because I have no time and no energy. I was given a new desk and in some versions of my fantasy life I want to keep all the things inside that desk. It's not very realistic right now, I don't have a ton of stuff but it definitely needs more than the desk drawers, but it's a goal and a reminder to stop buying.
I'm trying not to be rash because all of --this-- will not continue forever. The pandemic stress will lift, winter will become summer again (longer days, more energy), I won't always be dealing with the in-laws' stuff.
But previously when I did give up most of my crafts I gave away most of the stuff to friends who would actively use it. When I got crafty again it was many years later and not the same styles and crafts, and what I did have to re-buy wasn't a big deal. I was happy to get a new and improved paper trimmer and stylish new papers and fresh inks. I kept some basics so I didn't start completely from scratch, but there's almost nothing I've regretted giving up. And the few things I did, I was glad my friends could use them so it wasn't really a big regret.

Like grammadee, as my kid has grown, I have stopped using the kiddy stuff. Some I will keep to use on Make A Wish pages, but a large percentage could be sold.

I've certainly gone for periods of time when I haven't wanted to scrap, or shop for supplies, but I've never felt compelled to get rid of it all. I've given up on other crafty hobbies over the years and eventually donated the supplies I had for it, and always felt better for it, so if you truly don't believe you'll come back to it (or want to use what you have if you do), then pass everything you have on to someone who will be excited by it.

I do. I'm such a perfectionnist that sometimes scrapbooking is a struggle. I switch to digital scrap when I want to be able to stop and rework on a layout. After that, I wonder why I have so much stash! So far, I have always switched back to paper scrapbooking--new supplies make me happy, so does going through my stash, and I like my layouts/albums (after redoing them if need be). Also, I am single and have no kids, so sometimes I wonder why/ what I scrapbook for. I know it's not a popular opinion, but it's mine. And I wish I were like a lot of peas who don't care what happens to their albums after they die; but I do. It's so much time, money and memories invested that I hope it's all not for nothing. Ugh, sorry to be a Debbie Downer. In a nutshell, yes.

Not sure why I can't get into the mood to scrap anymore... Just curious if anyone else ever thinks it would be better to just get rid of everything... I feel ya - I haven't been in the mood to scrapbook most of this year. I can't get in the right head space for it. When I am not working, I'm finding that reading a book or watching a movie is a lot less mentally draining than crafting. I have stopped scrapbooking and sold all of my stuff before (I mostly had to... divorce, downsizing, etc. but also was doing more digital than paper scrapping) and ended up buying many things again when I decided I wanted to do more paper scrapbooking. So any time I get the urge now, I just box it all up and figure that if I end up never using it, it'll be easier to sell... but if I do I'll get to open a bunch of boxes and feel like I did some serious shopping. And all of the fun stuff I'll be glad I didn't sell would be in there.

No, but I sometimes feel guilty about the size of my stash vs actual finished projects. Usually that happens when I organize or go to look for something. My stamp collection is silly, and the number of stamps I have that have never been used is kind of embarrassing.
There just aren’t enough hours in the day lol. The last 2 years I’ve made exercise and reading a priority in my weekly schedule, but crafting still remains a neglected interest. I still love it. I still want to do it. I just need to figure out how to make it a habit that will stick.

I sometimes, well often really, want to dump it all and start over. If I could find what I want when I need it, I'd do it. I haven't bought any new scrapbook supplies in a long time, so most of my stash is old designs. I know I could never find it again if I wanted to. I do purge, but for someone who hasn't put together a page in years, I have too much stuff.

I've actually come to the realization that my kid may not want the scrapbooks I've made and now I just make them for me. It has taken many years to come to this and I have to say it's a bit freeing!

More like just trash it and be done. I've tried the grouping and selling and quickly found it's not worth the effort. With the pandemic, I don't want to bother donating.
I won't but, I'm not loving the clutter in my home right now.

I have had that thought once in all my years of scrapping. Not sure why I had that idea but thank goodness it didn't last. I'm comfortable with the ebb and flow of my scrappy mojo. I've been scrapping regularly for a year or two now but before that I often went through scrappy dry spells that would last months. And then I'd just pick up where I left off. One thing I've learned is that it never helped to try to force it.

Noooooooooooooo. Never.
Take a break. Yes. Downsize a bit. Yes. Sell a few things that I know I won't use. Yes.
Give it all up? No way. I value it too much as my therapy. My joy. My creative outlet.

No, I don't. Plus there is no one to really buy it anymore. An elderly scrapbook acquaintance is selling off everything. It is all in her garage and so many people have come by and it is mostly still sitting there. I bought some small things.
I think I could give it away at like a mega convention if I put it all on a table for free.
Now if there were 8.5x11 D ring albums I would buy those.
