2 things.. I just read a life changing tip about peeling garlic...put the clove(s) in the microwave for a few seconds. Poof! The skins all fall off! Nothing ever ever worked any better! Not those rubby tubes, smashing, this pops off the skin perfectly! As for chicken...I don't know why I can't do it right. I like buying whole chickens because I like to make stock with the bones. But separating the back from the breast, the thigh from the back, ugh I never get it right! I learned how from Rachael Ray. Scissors or a sharp knife to cut away the spine first on both sides, then crack the breastbone by pushing down on the flattened chicken, then cut in half down the middle of the bone, then separate the breast from the thigh/leg. I prefer to buy whole chickens too, much more flavourful! And I love those tips about heating the garlic first!!! okay I never tried that way before! If I use the scissors to cut away the spine first that's half my problem gone from the start! I think I've got it, thank you!

I have never bought a whole chicken I don't mind raw meat. I can't handle poached chicken smell though - two rounds of hypermesis gravidism ruined a few meals for me. I actually like the way my fingers smell after cutting onion... Onions don't make my eyes water - I remember them doing it when I was a teen, but not as an adult. Maybe my contacts absorb it all? I hate planning meals on the fly - putting something interesting and flavorful together every day is too high pressure, and our youngest has eating issues so it's always two meals EVERY meal. It's been mentally exhausting this year because my usual plan the week on Sunday has been blown apart by store shortages. I can never predict what will be in the store so I've had to flip the planning to after I shop, which leads to weird combos. I grew up cooking large quantities for a large family and would do that still, but I"m the only one who eats leftovers, so I stopped because of the waste. I hate hand washing dishes, but it's a daily occurrence for pots and pans so I suck it up. Thanksgiving is hard with all the larger casseroles and big platters to do. My feet are usually shot so standing to wash for 2+ hours isn't fun. We're making smaller dishes for everything tomorrow.

All of it. Prep, cooking, clean up. Yuck to all of it. I used to love to bake and I don’t enjoy that anymore either. Luckily, my dd married an awesome cook who loves to invite his favorite MIL and FIL over for dinner, AND she’s the family baker now. 🥳🥳🥳 Sometimes he cooks dinner and brings it to our house.

I love to cook and cook a lot.
My least favorite task that comes to mind is peeling potatoes and the clean up.

We have crappy dull knives, so chopping and cutting are two chores I don’t like. I have a quick chop gadget for small fruits and vegetables but it won’t chop potatoes.

I have now put frozen diced onions on my shopping list! I've seen them in the stores before, don't know why it never occurred to me to try them

Deciding what to make for supper every.single.night. Ugg it's the bane of my existence. The cooking and cleaning I can handle if I had some meat defrosted AND knew what to do with it! And I have to cook, no takeout or Skip the Dishes around here.

Just the cleaning. I like the rest of the cooking process.
For meatballs, I dump all the ingredients in my kitchen aid and mix with the paddle attachment. Use a cookie scoop to form the meat balls.

Try this instead of peeing potatoes the old fashioned way! We did a variation of this yesterday. Of course it didn’t work quite as perfectly, but it did save a lot of hands-on time. Ds didn’t like it but it worked fine for me. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it sooner, bc I do the same thing in my IP to cook and peel my sweet potatoes. youtu.be/mbHeddAnrZs

I see a few people already gave my answer -- ALL OF IT! ugh... The best Thanksgiving I've ever had food-wise was the year that I was all alone -- ds had moved to Georgia by then and it's too long of a drive for such a short holiday, dd decided to stay at school since she was coming home for Christmas break a week later, and dh went up to NY to spend the holiday with his sister whose dh had just died. For years while cooking I had said "one year we're having pizza for Thanksgiving!" Of course we never did because turkey and all the fixings are traditional. BUT! That year with all of them gone I had pizza and a beer for my dinner! It was lovely!

Making salad. I find chopping stuff up tedious at the best of times and that’s all salad is. And washing and drying lettuce? I’d rather not. The problem is that I love salads. I’m getting my better at cutting everything up as soon as I bring it home so that I can just pull things from different containers and toss it together.

omg cutting up a whole chicken! I can't do it! Every time I wind up with these weird Franken pieces! I've watched so many videos, it looks so damn easy, why can't I do it?! I'm 52 years old and has never cut up a chicken. Ever. In my life. And not going to anytime soon. I tried to cut them up when we were first married - my beloved next door neighbor, Miss Virginia, would "help" me AKA cut it up. I would watch and try along with her, my pieces were unidentifiable. This was before chicken tenders and boneless pieces. You could pay extra for a cup up fryer, it was hard to justify though.

I thought of a couple more - I don’t like shredding cheese or carrots. I also don’t love cutting raw meet. I use lots of garlic so I buy the already peeled ones

The older I get and the more my knee hurts, the less I like cooking. I especially hate the clean up.

Getting stuff on my fingers/hands. I'm constantly washing my hands as I cook. By the time i finish my hands are in need of some intensive lotion.
