I think a lot of you may agree that shaking out /fluffing open a new trash bag alarms their dogs, as it does one of mine (Moira Rose, the pit/brittany mix...).. She's young and hasn't experienced a lot of life yet.
She also hunkers down and looks worried when I sing and/or dance.
What seems like should bother my dogs, but doesn't? The Roomba

my German Shepherd loves it when we get a new garbage bag. When he was a puppy we made a game out of it with him. Now, anytime we put a new bag in, or even shake a grocery sack, he barks and runs around all happy. He's a dork.
Otherwise, he doesn't like the doorbell...he whines at that. And he hates storms.
My other dog can't hear anymore, so not a thing in the world bothers her, lol

My dog is afraid of the living/dining room. She won’t go through the kitchen doorway into the dining room and she doesn’t step foot into the living room. She stops where the living room begins. We’ve tried coaxing her with food to go into the dining room from the kitchen, but she won’t budge. Weird dog!

Freddie has sensitive ears, and on the odd occasion I'm not paying close enough attention to the salmon I'm pan cooking and the smoke alarm goes off, he is very upset/afraid.
He also becomes very afraid when DD14 and I raise our voices at each other!

The text alert beep on my phone. I have tried several but they scare her and she cries and walks upstairs.

We have a bird. He’ll sit on my shoulder and hang out while I vacuum, but if I walk anywhere near his cage with the red mop, he freaks out. I think he realizes how much I detest mopping and is just trying to give me a good reason to skip that task.

My dog Gus gets a little freaked out by grocery bags. The rustling noise I make with them when I’m putting away groceries scares him for some reason. 🤷♀️
He’s also not fond of fishing rods.

My dog Piper is also scared of the trash bag fluffing. I used to think she was playing as she would aggressively bark at it. But now I am pretty sure it scares her.
She also does not like to be alone and usually barks when any of us leave.
And she gets scared and goes to hide if anyone says the word "bath".

My giant lab is scared of the cat. She's also very nervous of food on forks. It can be her favorite food, but if it's on a fork held out to her, she's very hesitant about eating it. I'm afraid someone accidentally poked her with a fork.

One of my dogs hates water; bodies of it, baths, or falling from the sky. The other one is just afraid of baths.
One weird thing, you would think since they are both afraid of the vacuum, that would correlate with the blow dryer, but nope one of my dog’s LOVES to be blow dried.

My puppy St. Bernard, Moussey is afraid when anything is dropped on the floor.. which is understandable, but when that happens he has this corner he goes to and sits there forever.. plastic bags, nothing. "Roomba" he looks at and is skittish but isn't really afraid but is leary. I think he thinks it just might do something terrible at any minute... lol..

Sneezes.
DS and I both can have loud, dry sneezes and she freaks out and runs upstairs to her bed.
We aren't too far from Camp Pendleton and can have loud booms and windows shaking during live artillery exercises and the pup doesn't even cock an ear, but a sneeze sends her running.

The smoke alarm. To the extent that if I pan fry anything, she’s nervous. Thunder, gunshots, fireworks, trash bags—nothing. But if anything beeps, even for a second, like a smoke alarm, she pops her head right up. But if we say, “it’s the tv”, then she’s fine.

Our lab has barked/acted scared only a handful of times in his life..... it’s usually things that move unexpectedly.... a garbage bag blowing in the wind, a pool float left in the pool on a slightly breezy day, etc. Then there was the day that we had a chair in the kitchen where there’s never been one and ds had hung his black jacket on it.....poor dog was trying to warn me of the the danger while simultaneously trying to eat his breakfast, good thing there wasn’t real danger apparently I rank slightly below kibble 🙄
He actually likes the vacuum and loves to be brushed with it.doesn’t care for the roomba but more just gives it dirty looks and steers clear from it.

My dog is afraid of thunder, fireworks, and guns. And unfortunately for her I live within gun distance of Arlington National Cemetery and the Ft. Myer Army base attached to the cemetery. So we can hear all the practice guns, and the funerals. I'm always interested to see though that she's not afraid of the vacuum cleaner -- in fact, she follows me around like she's trying to protect me from the big bad vacuum. lol. She's also not afraid of loud air vehicle noises -- helicopters right over our house, or flyovers from the cemetery. She's a bit odd.

Trash bags, coat hangers, thunder, rain, fireworks, pretty much any loud noises, laundry baskets, baths. I took her to PetSmart Monday to get her nails trimmed, which she hates too. We were crossing the street to go inside and a car motioned us to go ahead. When she saw where we were going, she started walking slower and slower. I felt so bad for the car waiting on us!

Little girls... One of my cats is bullet proof, nothing scares her, she's front and center at the vet examining everything, she loves visitors, but when the 3yo neighbour girl came in, Emmeline was under the bed, eyes as big as saucers! and she didn't come out until she was gone. She didn't do anything to her, the cat was well and truly gone before she had a chance. I'm her 3rd owner, so she must have had a bad experience with a child in the past.

Balloons, the low battery beep on the smoke detector (Which always happens in the dead of night and then she whines and paces for hours. Replacing it is a bother because a lot of them are on 18 foot ceilings, so it's always the next day before we get to it) and, she hates the trumpet. Other instruments are ok.

One dog: the vacuum.
Other dog: panicked with the low battery beep of the smoke detector. Or when it went off due to smoke in the kitchen.

Our terrier mix Molly is scared to death of house flies. One of her greatest pleasures is laying belly up on the grass on a warm sunny day when we're outside but at the first sign of a fly she races to the backdoor. If a fly gets into the house she totally panics and runs and hides under our bed.
Molly belonged to a gentleman in our community who got her from a shelter as a rescue dog from California. When Al became ill we took Molly in and when he passed she became ours permanently. Don't know if maybe she had to fight flies for food in California or ? She is a wonderful loving dog and a huge fan of blankets of any kind and we adore her.

What isn't our lab/German shepherd scared of?
Any loud noise (thunder, tractor trailer brakes, fireworks, power tools, lawnmowers), windy nights she paces and stares at me, loud sneezes, birds flying above her.
The really weird one is my rolling desk chair. As soon as I roll it she skitters up like she's been shot. But she'll lay right on top of the base, with her floppy ears within pinching distance! We've been very careful because of this, but maybe her first owners weren't?

Anything and everything used to scare Milo. He was on Fluoxetine (Prozac) for years. You'd move your foot a quarter of an inch and he'd jumo through the roof, he'd hear something and race out of the room. He'd come in a room and something would be out of place and he'd be terrified to go up to it, a pillow fell of the couch, a box by the door. His biggest fear is bags, any crinkling, packing in groceries and he's gone. He got better on the medication and eventually we stopped it. He's good now except the plastic bags but not as bad as he was with them. He's always loved sitting in the bathroom doorway listening to the blowdryer though.

Our cat Jo Buttons growls when anyone comes to the door then runs and hides in the closet. She is terrified of anyone that isn’t us. She is also scared I will forget to give her cat cookies when I leave the house. The second she figures out I am leaving she is so stressed that I will forget to give her her treats. Our cat Walter was scared of outside, when he was in the crate to go to the vets he would cry on the way to the car. The second he was inside he was fine. Same with from the car to the vet. Well, he was scared of the vets but he didn’t cry like he did when outside.
Our Kit was terrified of the really loud rain, but she LOVED thunder and lightning. She also loved fireworks.
