Edited to add a poll
trump is expected to hand out pardons left and right before he’s shoved out the door.
From Paul Waldman’s latest column in the Washington Post....
“Trump’s previous pardons and commutations have been bestowed on a grab bag of the worst our country has produced: war criminals, a corrupt politician, a right-wing troll, an authoritarian racist and, of course, Trump’s cronies. Here are some who might get added to the list:
Rudy Giuliani: The president’s increasingly unhinged friend and advocate has been under investigation by prosecutors in New York, reportedly for activities related to his role in Trump’s corrupt Ukraine scheme. The New York Times reported that Trump and Giuliani have had multiple conversations about the possibility of a pardon, though Giuliani denies that.
Paul Manafort: The former Trump campaign chairman made himself a prime candidate for a pardon by not squealing on Trump; he’s currently in home confinement.
Trump’s own children: As ABC News reported, Trump is concerned that a Biden Justice Department might pursue his innocent progeny. “The kids have been through enough," said one top adviser who is pushing Trump to preemptively pardon them. Note that “the kids” are grown adults, and while Ivanka and Don Jr. narrowly escaped indictment for fraud in the past, it’s unclear exactly what crimes they might be on the hook for in the future. Their taxes are surely pristine, because the Trump family has always assiduously obeyed the spirit and the letter of the law. And if Ivanka’s getting a pardon, why not one for Jared Kushner, too?
Trump himself: This would be the most unprecedented and controversial.”

He still has the record of guilty pleas. No doubts about it. He was convicted in court!

Whatever. If this is what it takes to get rid of Trump, he can pardon Charles Manson if he wants. We knew he was going to do this. I just can't wait for the White House screen door to to hit him on the way out.

I don't think law and order means what he thinks it means.

I saw all over twitter that this pardon makes it so that he cannot plead the 5th and if/when he gets subpoenaed by Congress, if he lies he'll go to jail. After reading that, I felt a little better.

Is anyone surprised? Accepting the pardon means Flynn admits to his guilt at least. Is there any hope other charges could be filled against him in January?

That depends on what the pardon covered. That's the case with preemptive pardons, but it's really specific to exactly how the pardon is worded.

I'm not surprised. Guess we should have a Pardon Bingo card, eh?

I know he already admitted it, but still.

What gallingly peculiar pardon language: “It is my great honor Great Honor to announce yada, yada.”
It’s like he’s giving Flynn the presidential medal of freedom.
And a free turkey Free Turkey.

The thing that bothers me is that Trump is likely going to pardon every one of these f*ckers who were criminal right along side him, so they likely won't be lining up to tell all after he is out of office, since he pardoned them.

Wrong, they will have to testify as called. They will not be allowed to invoked the 5th!! Otherwise no answers = contempt of court = jail.

Honestly, he has the pardon power and everyone knew he was going to do this. This is just the beginning of this pardon shit but as long as he’s out the door and NY will be charging that family with state crimes, I’m just not going to bother getting worked up over this.

I've thought about this. IF he pardons all of them it just shows they are guilty of something. You don't need a pardon if you haven't done anything questionable.

Does anyone think that he is going to try to pardon himself? It seems like that has never been done, but we are talking about Trump here.

Sure. He only perjured himself twice-for starters. He’ll get himself into trouble again, because he needs money and he’s unscrupulous.

I just can't wait for the White House screen door to to hit him on the way out. I hate that this is where I'm at, but I completely agree. I realized after Biden was officially announced as President-Elect on that Saturday morning that I finally had a sense of peace. It dawned on me that I was outraged by something Dump Truck did on an almost daily basis for the last 4-5 years. I'm over it. I just can't anymore. I have literally zero control in what he does for the next 50-whatever days. I can only remember that Biden is coming. And while he has a tough row to hoe, he will be so much better. Just listening to him speak to the Nation these past few weeks has been refreshing.
