I saw all over twitter that this pardon makes it so that he cannot plead the 5th and if/when he gets subpoenaed by Congress, if he lies he'll go to jail. After reading that, I felt a little better. I would think that meant something if we weren't talking about someone who is a convicted liar. Just because Flynn can't take the 5th, doesn't mean he has to tell the truth. They're all liars, traitors and thieves. I can't imagine a congressional subpoena would force Flynn to be truthful any more than the threat of jail did.

Wouldn’t that also be true if Trump tries to pardon himself? And since he can’t tell the truth to save his life, wouldn’t a pardon of himself almost equal a “go directly to jail” card?

What gallingly peculiar pardon language: “It is my great honor Great Honor to announce yada, yada.” It’s like he’s giving Flynn the presidential medal of freedom. And a free turkey Free Turkey. I did wonder what happens to these pardoned thankgiving turkeys. The pardoned turkeys go live out their natural lives on a farm or other suitable location. This year they are retiring to Iowa State University. www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/turkey-pardon-thanksgiving-trump-corn-cob-b1761626.htmlI don’t much care where Flynn lives out the rest of his life.

That is true, you can not plea the 5th if the is no jeopardy to yourself. There are no longer any ‘ground that may incriminate’ him he is compelled to answer in court or be in contempt.

You can be convicted of the same crime if you commit it again. 🤷♀️

Remember Flynn did talk to Mueller extensively and in court as well as plead guilty in open court several times, so there arewritten records. And those records would be used!!

I’ve never doubted that he will. He’s got nothing to lose and everything to gain. There’ll likely be legal challenges but since when did he care about those? And then I wonder, what will his die-hard supporters think if he pardons himself?? Really, what kind of squeaky clean person pardons themselves? How will his supporters explain that away? You think his supporters will actually understand it’s an indication of guilt? They’ll just engage in their favorite mental gymnastics and use it to explain that he *had to* because he’s so victimized and persecuted.

Lord knows he’s done all sorts of other wacky unconventional “no one even THOUGHT of doing that before” kinds of things, so at this point absolutely nothing would surprise me.

Sorry! I didn’t correctly read the tone. And enough people wonder what happens to the turkeys that there is an article or three written about it every year. 😜

I was replying to Amelia's post saying Trump had pardoned Flynn and gave his a free turkey ( which I gather the free turkey part was a joke)

I feel sorry for the turkey - what did the poor bird do to get picked out to be pardoned by Trump. Bet if he had the choice he's prefer to be on someone's thanksgiving table

But I honestly think even stupid Mitch will come out and say no to that idea. It’s a GROSS misuse of power. Also, we/they don’t even know all of his crimes that they will try and prosecute him for.

what did the poor bird do to get picked out to be pardoned by Trump. Deep pockets campaign donor, probably. Something about farm subsidies... #MAGA ETA: I just realized the thread title includes “free as a bird.” We came full circle without even knowing we’d made any turns!

That’s easy. Q has to pardon himself to continue his valiant fight against satanic, baby blood drinking, pedophilia Democrats. You know the deep state is going to try and stop him, especially with the Demon-crats holding the executive office again.😳🙄 He’s going to pardon himself and his family. And use the excuse of a vindictive DOJ under Biden going after them, because even after 4 years in office, he doesn’t understand how our government works (with a lot of help from his sycophantic appointees).

His supporters? The same way they applaud him not paying taxes! They think he is so smart to screw the government. And shame on those who criticise him. He WON! They're happy with their, SNAP, welfare, free clinics, farm subsidies, no masks, fill those churches up, etc.......

Today someone read something from DOJ that he cannot pardon himself. I missed the details. From what I understand, he will need to turn over the presidency to Pence via the 25th amendment and Pence will pardon him. This will get around the whole can a president pardon himself. This is the part of the 25th that has been used before like when someone had minor surgery. I’m thinking it was daddy Bush getting a colonoscopy for example.

He doesn't have to claim anything, all he has to do is resign. He will also have to have great trust in Pence. Pence could really screw dt.

Man, how rich would that be??? He won biggly, he's the best president in the history of our country. But to resign and be pardoned?? I know this won't happen, but I would sure love to see how his supporters would spin it if he did.

It may be his only choice. Other wise him attempting to pardon himself would end up in court with him more likely to lose then not. Then his opportunity would be gone and he could be nailed for everything, federal and state
