We are not having our big meal until dinner time. I am making some soup for lunch. Dh thinks I am crazy and says “people don’t eat on thanksgiving except for the big meal!” I’m curious what others do. We don’t have any appetizers or other things to munch on like we would have if we went to a big family get together. I think he just expects everyone to starve until dinner so that they are super hungry.

We usually make quiche or regular eggs for breakfast and snack on crackers, cheese, and summer sausage for lunch. I will raid the dinner rolls if I bought extra. I have a pumpkin creme roll in the fridge that I'll get out soon and we'll have a slice between putting the turkey in and prepping the rest of the sides. (We're not eating until 4:30-5)

We do a later breakfast - and then an early dinner - so no midday meal. We like to eat early enough that we can enjoy the pies.

We eat thanksgiving around noon so we never worry about this... but I had two small cookies and coffee for breakfast 😬

I’m 100% with your hubby. Starve until the feast.

Normally when we are with family, we would go to grandmas house and have appetizers like veggie tray until the main meal, which was a late lunch. Then snack on appetizers and snacks and desserts all day until it was time for leftovers for dinner.

I think we’re going to eat around 3:30 or so, so we’re just snacking. I just had some crackers and cheese ball. No way am I fixing more than one meal today or dirtying more dishes than necessary.

I had a regular breakfast, Greek yogurt with granola and fruit. We also have appetizers around 1 and eat at 5. If you don’t eat all day your stomach shrinks and you’ll just eat less. There’s also more chances for family squabbles if everyone is around each other on an empty stomach all day long.

We had some eggs and sausage for breakfast. If anyone wants lunch we have a family size caesar salad (from the grocery store deli) and leftover pizza in the fridge and they can help themselves. Dh might have some salad. Dd and I will probably wait, but we do have appetizers ready for before dinner.

We have appetizers (crackers, pickles, cheese, olives, deviled eggs...) to munch on all day and eat the turkey around 3:00.

We always have pizza for dinner on Thanksgiving eve so there is usually leftover pizza plus we make a couple of appetizers. It’s almost 10:30am here and my teens are still in bed so that helps too....

We’re late sleepers, just got up at 11. So brunch now, I made a breakfast casserole last night and cinnamon monkey bread, and then the big dinner around 7pm. Some late afternoon snacking is possible.

When the kids were younger we would make homemade donuts every year (with biscuit dough) and they would watch the parade while we cooked supper. This year, we made bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches and will have charcuterie and then dinner around 630

Definitely in the late breakfast, no lunch, early dinner camp. Actually, since I've started intermittent fasting, that's how I normally eat.

We typically snack or have pastries while I cook, but this year it's just three of us instead of the usual 7 or 8, so I made DH an omelet and I had pumpkin pie for breakfast. We'll be having our carry out Thanksgiving turkey dinner from Cracker Barrell around 1 and then again around 7 this year.

We had cinnamon rolls early this morning and will have THE MEAL around 2pm. Then we have dessert a bit later.
ETA: If I waited until dinner time with nothing to eat all day, I’d have a huge headache and be very HANGRY. Nobody wants that!

Well normally we eat our big thanksgiving dinner at dinner time (7pm) so I usually eat “normal” meals but light and healthy - just like eggs and vegetables for breakfast then maybe some yogurt for lunch. Then I go crazy eating the big dinner

We're eating around 2. Breakfast is every man for himself, nothing organized. I noshed on some pecans while I was making orange cranberry relish.

We have shrimp cocktail, cheese and crackers, and spinach dip.
After a while we have soup.
After a while we have dinner.
After a while we have nuts and fruit.
After a while we have pies.
After a while we have leftover turkey.
My grandparents were from Italy, so we used to also have antipasto and pasta in there, but I had to cut a few things out.

I had a bagel with cream cheese and now drinking some cranberry juice with ginger ale
I’m thinking some cream cheese and pepper jelly with crackers and I made some tortilla roll ups and we have cookies. I usually make appetizers but with just the three of us I didn’t bother.

When we had kids at home, I made a souffle and a coffee cake. We'd eat our turkey dinner between one and two.

Everyone is on their own at our house. So far (11ish) I think DS is the only one that has eaten anything but that's typical around here. I'll have my usual bowl of chopped vegetables, fruit & nuts after 1.
If we were having people over I put out appetizers and/or a charcuterie & cheese board.
