This morning I tried something new and just bought the turkey breast with ribs. I came in its own bag and the directions basically said, "Put me in a preheated oven for 2.5 hours at 375 and check me around 2 hours. Keep me in my bag."
Holy crap. I checked at 2 hours and 15 minutes and I had five degrees to go. It is perfectly browned and the skin is crunchy. Not one single drop of liquid came out of the bag in the oven and the pan is spotless.
I bought two of these turkeys so I could make one today and one tomorrow for when we are actually having Thanksgiving. I wanted enough meat so my kids could take home a meal with them.
The turkey is resting for 20 minutes before I cut into it, but how am I thirty-two years into making Thanksgiving dinners and just realized that I don't have to cook an entire turkey (no one eats any meat but the breast meat in my house) and buying it in a bag is amazing? So much easier this way.
Just a PSA for anyone who might want to try this.

Good to know. I’m a white meat girl myself, but I’m the only one in my house whose super picky about it.

I quit buying the whole turkey years ago. Turkey breast is so much easier and less waste. If I remember to get it early enough in the season, I can get the smoked turkey breast which is even better. It only needs about an hour and a half to warm it up.
If one really wants a whole turkey, you can roast them in a bag. There are instructions online about how to do that. It keeps it moist. lso, roasting the turkey upside down works great too - the juices then flow towards the breast instead of towards the back where there is not much meat to hold it.

I'm cooking my first solo Thanksgiving meal. Ex used to cook the bird and stuffing while I did the side dishes. I'm cooking a Turkey breast roast in the InstantPot. I'm also making sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, and mashed potatoes. I chose to be alone today - I had invitations to my brother's house and to my friend's house - but I just need some alone time. Happy Thanksgiving everybody.

I bought one of these a few months ago but it’s still sitting in my freezer. I had planned to cook an early Thanksgiving meal as I was craving it but it took two curbside orders to actually get one snd then it was starting to get close to Thanksgiving. I was shocked when I read the directions and look forward to cooking this in a few months. If we hadn’t received a free turkey from my husband’s work we would be cooking it today.

Very interesting. I’ve never seen one that comes in a bag you can cook in. That sounds super convenient.
I generally buy a turkey breast, then a turkey leg or two if we have dark meat eaters with us that year. Much easier than a whole turkey and less waste. And less for the dog, but she doesn’t need as much people food as she thinks she does.

I purchased a boneless breast. Inside the outside bag, the breast was enclosed in a mesh bag. Directions said not to remove the mesh bag. That mesh bag kept it in the proper shape since it had no bones to hold it together. Directions also said to put foil over it for the remaining 15-20 minutes to keep it from getting too brown.
All worked perfectly and the meat was very moist.
Since we had no guests I purchased a 3 lb. size. It cooked in 90 minutes.

There would be a mutiny in my house if I just cooked a turkey breast. If it were just me? In a heartbeat! Dh and Ds are drumstick fans. I have cooked my turkey in an oven bag for 20+ years. It always comes out moist and juicy. Doing our turkey meal tomorrow, Ds’ Gf parents insist on her being there ON THE DAY. We are not as rigid and as long as we can have a meal with them, Friday is fine....

We had the double family issue too this year and one gf had to work until noon, so it made sense to do it tomorrow.
