Some favourite decorations:
These Santas have been tumbling on our mantle each Christmas ever since we moved into this house when our kids were still kids.
For many years when I was working, our classes would hold a Christmas Angel draw, like a Secret Santa, except the Angel would drop off small gifts from time to time during the school days in December, and then be revealed by signing the last gift on the last day of class. Many of those small gifts were angels, and they still decorate my tree each year and remind me of goodness and kindness out there in the world:
For many years, I have hung candy canes on the Christmas tree, and dh loves to sneak them. I thought that by putting them in this mug I received as a gift last year and leaving it out in the open will make it easier for him to sneak--and much easier for me to set out!

This is my very traditional tree and my childhood nativity. I love our tree and wish it was in our family room where I sit so I could enjoy it more. It has bubble lights, C7 lights, old German lead tinsel, all kinds of garland, candy canes, and all kinds of old and new ornaments with pictures of my boys each year all over the tree

I just finished these two - I couldn't just put a movie gift card in an envelope could I? Excuse the mess, please. IMG_5145 by CLAUDIA LOVELESS, on Flickr

gramma that is so cute! I am sure the recipient will be delighted. I finally did some creating today. I have been itching to scrap these photos, but I haven't received my prints from shutterfly yet, and also the rest of the gallery from the photographer is on delay (she shoots a mix of digital and film, and the film isn't done yet). So, I scrapped my Christmas card! I sent around 75 of these to family and friends. 12/13 by scrappy rabbit, on Flickr

I also photographed some of my homemade Christmas cards. I didn't make these all recently, some I did back in Jan/Feb. These are going to be donated to the local Senior living facility. 12/13 by scrappy rabbit, on Flickr 12/13 by scrappy rabbit, on Flickr 12/13 by scrappy rabbit, on Flickr

grammadee I don't raise alpacas, but my husband and I worked at the farm last year on the weekends. I am dying to see the rest of the photos! As soon as I get them, I want to scrap them!

Another card with the alcohol inks on glitter paper. The igloo was inked using a HOTP outline sticker as a mask. The bear was cut with Elizabeth Craft dies. And I have the gifts wrapped and under the tree

gramma LOL... grammadee I really enjoy all the pictures of your decorations Need to make some more Xmas cards and I thought I should use this SheetLoad. Used a cut apart page as the image/sentiment panel and skipped the scalloped embellishment. http://instagram.com/p/CI3qKzxJPCY

Guess I am officially a “senior”. Here is my Christmas stocking delivered from a member of a local agency. yesterday Like old times, there is a mandarin orange in the toe, a candy cane and some other treats. But they also included a pack of Kleenex, some gloves, socks, and a small tube of hand lotion. Dh got one too. But I knew HE was a senior LOL

In my grand daughter's first year I did a month by month album with a 2 page spread each month in addition to her regular scrapbooks. I decided for subsequent years to do an annual 2 page spread for that one book. I just completed her pages for 2020. She will be 2 on Jan 9th so I will start the 2021 spread with her birthday photo.

I actually assembled a PAGE today. Yay, ME!!!! While I was cleaning and organizing, at one time this photo from 1983 and these scraps of pp from 2020 were in the same line of sight... Christmas 1983 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr When I went looking for a way to tie them together, I remembered The Scraproom's monthly feature, Freaky Fast Friday Formula. I didn't really use the formula, just scraps of holiday pp I had at my fingertips. But their example is what got me going on this page. I started with it on a plain white background, but quickly decided it needed a splash of colour, so switched to VB foundations cs and splashed some on. Then kitbop got into my head, and I had to add a couple of clusters... But even then, this page was "freaky fast" to put together.

It has bubble lights, C7 lights, old German lead tinsel, all kinds of garland, candy canes, and all kinds of old and new ornaments Love the tree! We have bubble lights, but they are PITA to get level enough to bubble, and quite a few of the bulbs have gone "dry" so we don't bother anymore. C7 lights create the best glow don't they!!! But we did switch to LEDs because of the heat factor. The old incandescent bulbs dry out the tree faster. I have garland that I adore and guard fiercely - it's perfectly "floppy" so that it hangs between boughs nicely. And the tinsel - I grew up REMOVING tinsel strand by strand so that we could save it to use the next year because we couldnt buy the heavy lead stuff anymore and my mom wanted to save it. I hated that job. We now have tin tinsel: tinsel by kirstendrew, on Flickr It is AWESOME - love the way it looks on the tree! I'm really sorry I haven't been in here admiring photos/projects, or on the flickr board at all. Because I haven't had time to create myself, I was kinda "saving" myself from temptation? The cards! The cards are amazing everyone!!! grammadee - love that Christmas layout, especially the way you used the 3x4 and 4x6 cards@ myboysnme - that spread of your GD is WONDERFUL. I love the way the colours take you from card to card, and she is precious

And the tinsel - I grew up REMOVING tinsel strand by strand so that we could save it to use the next year because we couldnt buy the heavy lead stuff anymore and my mom wanted to save it. I hated that job. We now have tin tinsel: We have to take the bubble lights out and shake them often this year. We have an artificial tree because we live where it is too warm to keep a real tree from drying out right away. I ordered the tinsel from Germany from old stock and much of it was collected and reused probably for 2 or 3 generations. So now I am the one who collects it strand by strand. My son has carried on the tradition of our tree so he used C7 and bubble lights too. We just haven't made the switch to LED and I hope I have enough stashed to avoid that in my lifetime. The light is different and for some reason I just have to evoke the Christmases of my childhood. It's one of those holidays I just can't embrace the new. But then, I have a huge collection of antique and vintage ornaments and decorations and barely any of it even emerged from their boxes this year. One year I made that twisted tinsel using this sheets of tin and some tin snip scissors and sold it at a little church craft show. I have some left and I also have one or 2 boxes of antique/vintage twisted tinsel I use in my displays, but this year I don't have any displays anywhere of my vintage stuff. Thank you for the comments on my one year layout. I did the 2 pages all at once with the little embellishments, and added the photo and month each month after I found a photo to use. As she got taller I had to move farther away to fit her in the frame, lol! I plan to do something similar each year, at least for awhile.

Oh, so much cuteness on two pages! I LOVE it. I can't believe how much she has grown from the start of the year til now. And it is very considerate of your son and DIL to have had her in January, it fits in so well with you being able to start each year with a photo from her birth month!

I have been doing a digital version of December Daily I think if I learned to scrapbook like this it would change my life. It is like looking at a published book! I love it so much. Sometimes I wish I had always done digital and didn't have all this product to deal with as well as bulky albums. Someday, if I live long enough, I would like to scan all the pages I've done, make books, and then eventually the scrapbooks can get tossed.

scrappyrabbit, your pages are wonderful. Those alpaca embellishments are really cute and PERFECT for these pages, for sure! You and your mom are both very talented. Love that card with the Christmas mailbox. justjac, your pages are beautiful! As myboysnme says, it is just like looking at magazine pages! Love that you are documenting the season, whether it happened in December, or all in one day, or in what order it happened. It all serves to make the memories bright! Kudos on your photographic documenting, and you take the BEST selfies!

Santa did a drive by on my dgs’s block. Parents had been alerted so the families were each in their own yard. He stopped and asked each kid what they want for Christmas and reminded them to be good.
