Claire and Phil on Modern Family make me want to scream. So over the top dramatic and she is such a twit. They are the reason I stopped watching. I wish Cam and Mitch had their own show. They could even invited Jay and Gloria once in awhile but a family split from Phil and Claire would make it a good show.
I also loathe Dr. Phil

My favorite tv show is The Middle. But I have a love hate relationship with the dad Mike. Most of the time I love him, but on some episodes I he drives me crazy.

She's not the most annoying and others will more than likely leap to her defence, but there's something about the Olivia Benson character in L&O that just makes me want to punch her sometimes. I don't even know why, but I do!

I've never seen an episode but Honey Boo Boo angers me beyond belief.

I don't watch a lot of TV anymore, but a couple that come to mind are the lady with the accent on "The Middle" and Fran Drescher. I also notice I can't stand to watch the stupid skits on SNL anymore.

Carrie's father Arthur on King of Queens. He is such a pain...

I found Jack from Lost irritating at a level that was not rational. I kept hoping every week they would kill him off. Jack was originally supposed to die in the middle of the pilot episode, but then the writers changed it. I was just reading that somewhere last week.

reading some of these now has reminded me of others! I agree with Carrie's dad on King of Queens...annoying! On Two Broke Girls, I can't stand the Polish lady--and Caroline. Drive me nutty. Two and a Half Men--HATE Alan! The Middle--Brick is godawful! Can.not.stand.him. Not a fan of Axel either; although I can tolerate the other characters fairly well. So many terrible tv characters!

Janice from Friends comes to mind, but honestly, Phoebe drove me nuts. Didn't like her character at all. Tell me about the characters that annoy you. Snort! Umm...Matt Lauer from The Today Show? Oh, wait, that's a different thread! LOL

Fun question....
Definitely Jenny from the L Word. Gotta say I wasn't mad at what happened to her the last season. C'est la vie!
Tara from True Blood is a close second.

Gloria on Modern Family. She used to seem like she was smart, but the past couple of seasons she just annoys me.

Real people are ok on this thread? I'm with you on "Dr." Phil, and I think Dr. Oz is a seriously dangerous quack.

Phil on Modern Family - I can't stand that he thinks he's funny when he's really just being stupid! I start grumbling when I see him, which annoys my kids, lol!
I also just binge-watched The Walking Dead and Dale drove me nuts (can't remember if he was killed off in season 2 or 3?) He reminded me a lot of one of dh's uncles who I don't care for. Can't say I was sad when the walkers got him.

Jack McCoy from L&O. I still watch the show whenever I catch it but there are times he is truly heartless. I know the law doesn't have any grey areas, but there were times he was like a dog with a bone.

Nancy Oleson from Little House on the Prairie. Not even Nellie; she was tolerable. But her adoptive replacement Nancy, during those years when everyone was grown and Michael Landon had to dredge up some cherubic faces, was pure torture to watch. "You hate me! You all hate me!" Yep. Oh yeah - I liked Nellie in a love to hate kind of way but Nancy was freakin' annoying !!

I agree the kid on Walking Dead, I also can't stand either character on that Sam and Cat show, I make the kids change the channel. And Laurel on Arrow is an awful actress! I quit watching the show because she still didn't have a grip on that character as an actress by season 2.

Joffrey Baratheon from GOT. I have never disliked a fictional character so deeply as I did that dude. I may have cheered a bit during his last scene. Besides, I could never look at him without seeing Nelly from little house...it was just weird.

I agree with Phil on Modern Family, very annoying.
And I hated Walt's character on Breaking Bad. I enjoyed the series but I had a very bad reaction to him, thought he was just a rotten human being through and through.

Although I used to love them as a child (uncertain whether they were actually better or I could easily suspend reality/naive), I've not watched sitcoms since college. IMHO most of the characters are more irritating than believable or entertaining. I watch a handful of dramas & few past the first couple seasons. Rather than investing in the storylines of the successful shows to avoid them plunging into bad 1970s evening soap ridiculousness (e.g. constantly switching partners, out-of-body experiences, formerly-deceased characters re-emerging, character with multiple personalities), the networks introduce a new batch of one-&-done shows every year!
