Sorbet, which is a really unique color. When your Sorbet ink cube arrives, would you be able to compare it to any other orangey-pink you have? I'm intrigued by this colour but it's so hard to tell from a computer screen.

Lindsay the Frugal Crafter always recommends getting a reinker, but what really sold me on it was realizing that you could use reinkers for more than just your Ink pads. (She also suggests getting mini inks so you can have more colors and take up less space...just reink them more!)

This is really silly, I'm sure, but it stood out to me that Jennifer McGuire always discouraged her viewers/readers from buying reinkers - she always said that her inks rarely went dry and if one did, she would just buy a new ink pad. So now in the context that Hero Arts doesn't sell reinkers, it makes sense that she would say that. However, once she was talking about Distress Oxides and she said that for those you should buy reinkers because you'll need them - I haven't found that to be the case personally. Anyway, the reinker thing is something I've literally pondered over the years because of her - because I always automatically bought the reinker when buying an ink pad. I've had some of my SU inks for 17 years now, and have reinked only my most used colours. That's interesting! I've only ever reinked my blacks, my versamark, and the black soot distress oxide which arrived not very black or sooty. I've not needed any other oxide reinkers so far. I just bought some Catherine Pooler minis and they warn that because they're so juicy they will likely need frequent re-inking. I won't buy reinkers until I use them enough that I need them though. I'm cheap that way. But given the choice I will always buy a reinker over throwing away a pad I use - it's such a waste of money and resources, and you get a LOT of ink in the reinkers!

I agree on buying reinkers over pads, with the exception of VersaMark pads. I like to get a fresh pad every few years because it just gets so icky!

I also love to make swatches - it allows me to see what the colours really look like and how they work together. I also echo what someone else said - it makes me use colours I might otherwise rarely use ... Here are my latest swatches - use the arrow on the pic to see the picture of my swatches: http://instagram.com/p/CDXj4Auhfvs

Cara, all that color is so pretty!!!!!
I have some Distress Inks, the Ranger Dye inks, and some Hero Arts Shadow inks (most of these I bought 2ndhand). I have been thinking about getting rid of all my Distress Ink pads, and just buying a set or 2 of the distress mini inkpads. The Hero Arts ones have held up so far (knock.on.wood), and my favorite is the Ranger Dye Ink pads... I never buy reinkers, after trying to re-ink pads a few years ago and I just made a mess. It wouldn't stamp evenly, and one pad kept leaking after. I am sure it was user error, but it just didn't seem worth the expense and storage. I figured there would always be some type of inks I could buy to replace if needed. So far I haven't needed to.
I miss the Colorbox Petal stampers--I started stamping with those, those little pigment ink wedges? You would get a whole variety of colors and they weren't too expensive, esp. at a big box with a coupon.

OH! And I meant to say about swatching--I did mine, but I just never reached for the swatches. Maybe just because I don't have that many to start with? Or I'm lazy? LOL I did make little stickers for the side with the color on them, and I do like those, I can just look and grab in the moment. I have them stored by color now, too, mixed up the brands, and that makes it easier for me to know what I want, too.

Not quite inks, but I recently finished swatching all my acrylic paints. One of the main reasons being it's far more portable to take to the store (when going to a physical store is safe again) and if the colour ever goes tits up, I have a sample of what it used to look like for reference / replacement. Swatches are also great for figuring out if a colour scheme works before committing.

(She also suggests getting mini inks so you can have more colors and take up less space...just reink them more!) True, I've watercolored with my reinkers - very vibrant and pretty. I've also dyed white ribbon with them, you can make any matching color. That's interesting! I've only ever reinked my blacks, my versamark, and the black soot distress oxide which arrived not very black or sooty. I've not needed any other oxide reinkers so far. I've reinked some of my black inkpads so many times - those reinkers are well worth it (Memento, Versafine, My Favourite Things, and Gina K are the ones I use). I also have Catherine Pooler mini ink pads and I feel like I won't ever need to reink them just because they're so juicy. I've had my Versamark pad for probably 15 years and haven't had to reink it yet! cardsbycara - your photo of the Concord & 9th ink pads is making me want those inks so badly! They are so pretty! But I have enough inks - maybe someday...
