For a family recipe from HIS family. Something he made growing up.
I texted him the list
He called me FIVE times and forgot an item
He's gonna need a personal chef/shopping if I die first.

I was at the grocery store the other day and a man was doing the shopping from a list. He had his phone to his ear and was asking his wife about some produce. I watched him as he shopped through the store, he stayed on the phone the entire time. I was chuckling watching this task play out.
Deep down I thought I would want strangle him if he were my spouse. It would be easier to do it myself.

Well huh. I'm not sure you could have made it any easier. Some people are just confuzzled by the concept of grocery shopping. No matter how short the list LOL!

Reminders app on IPhone. Use the grocery list and then share it with him.

Sometimes I need to send my SO a photo of the product. Then he can match the label word for word! I can't just tell him a can of green beans, because then he sees "French style", "Whole", "cut", and he gets confused.

I have to text my DH a very detailed list. If I don’t he’s likely to forget about 1/2 of it or I’m getting a bunch of texts asking questions and then phone calls. Sometime he evens FaceTimes me. Good grief.

It isn't the one thing he forgets on his grocery run. It is the ten things he brings home that a) were on sale, b) we just had some yesterday so "I thought we might need more," or c) this might work for lunches (except he never actually EATS that item for lunch, and it's something I CAN't eat, even if I wanted to.

I do Instacart and an elderly gentleman asked me what he needed to buy to make spaghetti. His wife just told him to get stuff to make it and didn't give him any details. He was in the right aisle with the pasta and sauces though.

My DH can't find anything in the store. Why should it be any different than at home, right?
He could not believe the olives were by the pickles, when he called me to ask where olives would be.

He will buy it and then it sits on the counter or in the fridge until it goes bad because even though he swears he will cook/prepare whatever it is, he doesn’t, apparently secretly hoping that I will make it. I am about to toss a spaghetti squash because it has sat on my center island for over a month now. I’m not a fan of spaghetti squash, and I’m certainly not making it into the main course that Dh wants ME to make it be.

I love sending DH to the store for me because he buys exactly what's on my list--I generally have a few things on my list, plus my weekly mental list, and then get a lot more because I see something on sale or remember something we might need--he usually spends only half of what I do because he sticks to the list.
I hate sending DH to the store because I have to have a fairly detailed list, written in order of how the aisles are ordered otherwise he won't find something, and include how many of each item. I have to mentally go through the store so I am sure that I write down things from my weekly mental list plus what we need and what's on sale...

Get the app AnyList. Then share the list with him. That way either of you can add/see items. We have grocery stores, Walmart, Target, Menard’s, Home Depot and wherever else we shop. I have also added the bank, cleaners, post office to the list. My husband didn’t want to do it, now he loves it. He adds things, I add things, our daughter adds things. All of us can add/delete when we are at the store. There is no more leaving the list at home or forgetting things. So, if any of us are at the store someone else can add to a list and we will get a notification and get whatever it is.

Curbside pickup works great except when I get Napa cabbage instead of Bok Choy.
This is funny. What might you need for spaghetti?

And you just KNOW that he asked his wife to thank him at least 6-12 times for doing the grocery shopping. “Wasn’t it so helpful that I did the shopping this week?” “Did it help out that I picked up the groceries today?” Etc. Never mind that he probably never thought to thank his wife any of the hundreds of times she did the shopping over the course of their marriage.

My DH does most of the grocery shopping.
We also use the Keep app on our phones. We have a grocery list, a home depot list, a target list, then lists for bringing stuff to/from my mom's or my daughter's house.

DH does a great job grocery shopping. Since COVID, he gets our groceries, and every 2 weeks he gets my parents' groceries.

My dh stopped at the mini mart for a 6 pack. I was in the car. He asked if I wanted anything. I said “yes, please get me a chocolate milk”. Guess what he forgot? Sure wasn’t the beer! Lol

Oh that's funny! With my husband he loves to shop. I do NOT. He's been doing most of the shopping since I'm home being immune compromised. I'm not there to say "Do we have room for that? Do we really need that NOW, we have 2 others of that at home already?" So currently we are over stocked. If our area goes into total lockdown, we should be good for a long time. Just don't ask me where he's going to put anything he buys for Christmas dinner.

We have had AnyList for over a year and we have shared lists not only for all the stores we normally go to but we also make a list of things we need to remember to bring to our lake cabin and sometimes if we have a shared detailed to do list. It works great.
