I spent the early part of the week packing up my mom and moving her into an assisted living apartment. Her craft room was so much work to pack. She had a lot and even though it was no where near as full as other people's spaces it was still so many boxes in the end. I probably own half of what she did and I still feel like I have too much. I just know that I can't leave all that for my kids to deal with someday. Also, for all of you with your tons and tons of completed scrapbooks that feel your kids can deal with them when the time comes....well as an adult kid dealing with them it sucks A LOT.

I placed an ACOT order last night with a gift card I got for Christmas. I’m definitely frozen though and plan to stay that way. I need to use or purge some of what I have. My fil bought me 18 adhesive refills for Christmas so I don’t even have that as an excuse to spend.

I joined the 50 layouts before a purchase group. I’ll reassess after that. I could scrap a long, long time without needing anything. It’s the wantsies that will eventually get me. But I’ll stay frozen as long as possible.

I'm sorry you have a lot on your plate. I am one of those peas with dozens of big, completed albums. I've let my adult child know that they can toss my stuff wholesale when I pass. As my other kids mature, I'll tell them too. My albums are for me, for my enjoyment, during this one life I get. I don't want them to be a burden to my kids later. (((Hugs))) pea friend.

Accountability:
I ordered prints at Snapfish today.
Still very chilly. (It would be hard to scrap without photos)

((((Hugs)))) I'm sorry you're dealing with all of this. As the adult kid who inherited the 10k+ photos, 4k+ slides, and 50+ photo albums - btdt on overwhelming but I'm also glad to have them and my kids are glad I'm the one dealing with them I also have a ton of scrapbooks and am still scrapping. I've told my kids (29,20, and 14) that I don't expect them to keep all of them. I make them for me and if one or more of the kids wants them - great.

I also ordered photos today - the rest of 2020 (I hope). I'm not counting photos, adhesive, albums, page protectors, envelopes, or black/white cardstock because those are, to my mind, essential and will bring any progress to a standstill if I run out. That said, I'm not running out to stock up either - I'll buy as needed.

linda I'm not counting photos, adhesives, page protectors, or albums as breaking the freeze either. But I do want to see how much I'm spending on them this year.

I’ve been frozen since before Black Friday. I will be staying in the freezer for potentially a long time.
However, I don’t feel deprived. I started doing some reorganizing in my craft room in December. Nothing totally kills the desire to buy crafty stuff like organizing what you’ve got and knowing you will probably never have time to use it all before you die (even assuming you still have many years to live and craft). Hopefully it will be a lot easier to use my stash once it’s better organized.

I’m so sorry about your mom. My DH just had major back surgery and is now in rehab. I recently started thinking what if something like that happens to me. I don’t want my kids to have to deal with all my craft stuff, either.

Chilly in Wisconsin:
I spent way less last year than prior years and plan to spend even less this year. As I am reorganizing my space I let go of 22 unused albums ranging from instax size to 12x12. It was freeing as they had not been used and I revised how many albums I wanted to pass on to my children (color coordinated them for each child). It will also keep me focused on editing the photos and stories and actually completing projects to the end.
Next up--all those die-cuts and journal cards. I went through my stamps and 12x12 papers last year. I think getting the Paper Person monthly kit this year will be way more than I actually need. I do save a little room for items I really want and may not have the chance to grab it if it sells out such as the lilac and spruce albums from Citrus Twist. They were so gorgeous and I already have the exact project for them.

Oh man, was tested today but stayed strong. Saw a Amy Tangerine alpha stamp for $5.99, but decided that I don't need it. Didn't even really love it. And I already have several alpha stamps. Ones that I do like.
So, still quite chilly.

Huh, I thought they were gone. I used it many, many, many years ago. Have to look for it again. I have started to unsubscribe from emails from companies. Don't need the temptation. I am even unfollowing companies on social media that I don't like anymore. I thought I needed to follow them for ideas but I was also buying the newest items and not using them. I just have to figure out how I can replicate something with the stock I have.

I'm sorry you're dealing with that, but all we can do is get through it and hopefully learn from it. I helped pack up and sell a relative's craft room after she died of cancer. She found great comfort being in that room until the end, even though she hadn't made anything in many years, and no one would've begrudged her that. Seeing the things she loved and made many years ago held some joy for her kids. But cleaning out the bags and bags of things she had hoarded, because salsa cups, film canisters and empty tampon tubes could be really useful (she did miniatures) was very frustrating and complicated the grief. She was organized, but the boxes of pinecones and moss and tiny figures were still junk to everyone else. I really wished she'd passed more on to people who were actually making miniatures while she was still around. Shared the bounty. We trashed so much stuff and felt so bad about it.

Halfway through the month - how is everyone doing?
I had planned to be chilly (not completely frozen) allowing myself my Elle’s Studio kit and some addons (maybe $25) to ship free with the kit on release day. I’m happy to say I only picked up a set of white puffy alpha stickers on sale (which I had been wanting to get anyway, but hadn’t been on sale before) and that was it for that release! I had some stamps and other stickers in my cart, but realized I didn’t absolutely need or love them, especially with so many unused supplies in my stash.
I also canceled my Paper Person sub (and glad I did, since I don’t care for the January kit) and canceled my Patreons - just not getting much from them and it felt like one more time suck/thing to be behind on to watch the videos instead of actually scrapping. If they were still inspiring me to create, I would have kept them...but they haven’t inspired me in a while, and I can get most of the finished product content free on social media (which annoyed me as a paying customer).
My other wins of “not buying” include Ali Edwards’ Story kit - Action was my OLW last year, so in my mind I had allowed myself the purchase (with the 20% survey code), but the more I looked at the kit, the more I was able to talk myself out of it. I also decided to buy the FYC kit after seeing previews - it seemed perfect for documenting life right now. But on reveal, I didn’t overwhelmingly love it as much as I thought. Had it in my cart, but it sold out while I was still thinking on it. I’m glad it did - I have quite a few similar items from IACB printables. I checked out the Paper Person release, thinking I might have FOMO after canceling and may want some of the new stamps. Nothing appealed to me there, so another no-buy win!
I did pick up a progress tracking stamp from AE - I’ve been wanting it a while and just realized it was in stock, and had the 20% off survey code. I wanted something to track my goals, so perfect timing for January. So, I’m at $20 plus my kit. Feeling pretty good about that!

I haven't bought anything yet. I realised I will need to buy an album for my 2021 pages but I'm thinking I will wait until Kaisercraft do their typical end of month % off everything before I buy. The KC albums aren't my favourite but they're significantly cheaper than the alternatives, and, more importantly, I'm much less likely to add other things to my cart.

I got back to cardmaking after a holiday break and pretty much as soon as I hit a creative bump, got stuck on a design, I started thinking about what I "need" to buy to make it work. One thing, stitched heart dies, might be valid. Not a true need - I've managed without for a couple of years - but a purchase that might have an outsized benefit for the cost involved.
I have some journaling pens I'll get next time I am at a stationery store, and a sold out card kit on my mind (I could get similar products or wait for the individual pieces I like to come on sale). But for the most part I'm good.
I will find a creative way to avoid buying the heart dies, most likely, unless I can get some cheap with my necessary adhesive purchase.

I thawed briefly because my Michaels is closing next week and I popped in to check out the final sale...picked up some cardstock packs, a floral paper pad, a christmas stamp set, and some adhesive. Back in the freezer though. I did buy a pack of page protectors today but that was a need not a want.
I'm on the 50 layouts thread and I've been using UP stuff which is both a good feeling but also rather enlightening as to how many layout and cards it takes to use up one collection pack (spoiler alert - the Authentique October pack made 8 pages (8.5x11) and 60 cards.)

I’m not doing the best at this. I decided to upgrade my desk and bought a light and a pegboard. I’m ok with this because I have been working from home and it’s about time I upgraded a bit more.
But then I also bought 4 everyday explorers grab bags.
I have however used a good amount of my supplies from my paper person kits and my feed your craft kits so I’m happy with that progress. I also have several pages planned out.

I know what you mean about trying to kill a kit or collection! I finished up a Christmas journal and decided to make a bunch of layouts ready for photos out of the leftovers instead of adding it back into my stash. Granted I mostly used cardstock as the base, but I made 23 one-page layouts and still had some stuff left!
