I did well in January and stuck to my frosty plan - my Elle’s Studio kit and less than $25 spending. I canceled all my other kits, and have not been tempted at all by Kelly Purkey’s kits (I really thought I would have FOMO, but I’m really glad I canceled). February I went over and bought a few things, but was more intentional. March, well, I got my credit card rewards $$ (and stimulus, right?), so I spent that on some stamps from Everyday Explorers Co and a kit + stamps from FYC. I did resist Elle’s Studio cute bday release, so some willpower there. I plan to be frosty again in April to get through until NSD sales. Oh, how naive March me was! So optimistic, so delusional. April was not frosty, except for the snow yesterday.

I confess I placed an order recently for some Everyday Explorers stamps. I've had a tough couple of months and really needed the retail therapy. I tried to make sure each of the stamps I bought are ones that will get a lot of use so I have no regrets.

I am almost done with my purge and clean out of old supplies, and organization of new supplies purchased during the pandemic lockdown. I am committing to use what I have and freeze new purchases except for my Paper Person and Cocoa Daisy kits (but I may cancel that one), and necessities like adhesive, white cardstock, etc. I have more than enough scrappy supplies to make a dent in my backlog of photos, and to make the few cards that I will need to send to friends and relatives. I am hoping to stay flash frozen until the Christmas collections come out. Fingers crossed!

I placed 2 orders so far in 2021, both partially paid with gift cards. But, I am also getting 2 scrap kits every month, so I'm barely slushy. I think I need to cancel one of the kits. I used the stuck at home due to a pandemic excuse to justify having both the FJ and Hip Kits.
What I really need to do is purge my paper and give it to my friend.

I unfroze two weeks ago to prepare for a four-day crop with two vaccinated friends at their lake house. However, I did 72 pages at the crop so I more than made up for my lapse with uber-productivity!

I haven't made anywhere near enough progress on using up the Paige and Shimelle supplies I have, so when I started hearing about Joann's Designer Destination stuff being on sale I had to give myself a good shake. I've been doing some tidying and realized I had more partially finished/half started projects than I realized. More than enough to work with in the small amount of crafty time/energy I have right now. I also realized I have no interest in making anything scrappy right now, NYTimes says I might be "languishing" (not depressed but not feeling good) so I'm finding it pretty easy to stay chilly. I took a screen shot of the NYT Instagram post defining Languishing. Yeah, I'm including it in my Pandemic Album foe April. Definitely feeling that one.

72 pages!!!!!!!!! Holy moly! You go girl!😁 Thanks! It took almost two weeks to prep page kits and supplies, but having three solid days (minus the travel) to just sit and focus on layouts was so fun. Oh, man, I am so jealous. A crop and at a lake house? Sounds fabulous. It's the first time I've been away from my family in almost 2 years. Hooray for the vaccine!!

Was anyone trying to stay frozen or chilly during NSD? If so, how did you go with the sales?
I hadn't planned on staying frozen, but I didn't end up spending anything. I had plans which kept me from being online which was probably the single biggest help, but the sales I did see for places I was interested in were not enough to get me to spend. I'm really happy with how it turned out as I definitely do not need any more supplies!

Chinagirl828 I stayed frozen. On my last birthday, I was gifted three paper pads and several packs of stickers, among other things, so the itch for something new has been quite scratched. I didn't even see any INSD deals that made me pause and consider, to be honest. I feel like sales aren't very good lately.

I stayed frozen too. Nothing grabbed my attention fortunately. Plus, I'm waiting for a care package to arrive which I know has some goodies in it that I bought a while ago so I've got that buzz to look forward to!

I spent a lot less than I have in previous years, but I haven't done great staying frozen this year either. The sales the past couple of years haven't been that good IMO. I'm frozen solid now until September. My little space is overflowing and it's time to use my stash.

Was anyone trying to stay frozen or chilly during NSD? If so, how did you go with the sales? me mostly - picked up a stamp at HL on Friday to use for the album I was working on this past weekend. But didn't look at the online sales at all. My space is overflowing also and I'm noticing how very little product I actually USE - I'm primarily a cardstock scrapper - so using up PP or stickers or ephemera etc...takes a very long time. I bought one fairly small kit for this album plus one extra (also small) sticker sheet and the album is almost done and I've quite a bit left.

I stayed frozen. I also changed my Hip Kit club from the main kit plus cardstock to just the embellishment kit. I need to use up some of my paper.

I'm really happy with how it turned out as I definitely do not need any more supplies! I didn’t shop during the weekend but I did place a fairly large order for stamps and dies a little earlier in the same week. (Luckily if they had an iNSD sale I didn’t see anything about it, and so I didn’t have regrets). I wanted an inexpensive item, then saw something I “needed,” and then I added some sets that had been on my to-buy list for a long time because they were “retiring” and I think they will be really useful. So a $10 treat became a $100 haul. And once I got coloring I started second guessing myself... Do I really like these kinds of stamps? Do I do good enough coloring to be confident in using them for cards I plan to sell? (I have been thinking about whether certain styles are “me” or if I should leave them to other people.) But it got me playing with some new designs and other things I had bought earlier and not used much, so perhaps the creative energy itself was worth it. I’m going to stop shopping again though. Every time I buy something I realize that yes, I can use it, but I could also have made plenty of other things with what I already have.

Today I finally bought a 3" binder to use as my 2021 album. Hopefully tomorrow I can put the layouts I have made this year in it.
Tomorrow I should order April photos. Too lazy tonight.

I imagine it must sometimes be challenging to keep fresh designs for your customers without buying new things. I expect it must be easy to justify buying new things for your business so I applaud your willpower and creativity to resist the urge to buy all the things.

Now that it's mid year how is everyone doing on their spending goals? I pre-ordered the new cocoa vanilla line which other than albums has been the biggest purchase I've made all year. I've really thought about the purchases I have made and have cut way back on what I spent last year so I'm really happy with how I'm tracking. I would seriously love to keep this up for the rest of the year if I can.

Now that it's mid year how is everyone doing on their spending goals? Ugh. I need to go back in the freezer. I had picked up a few subs in April/May, and canceled those for June. But, Ali Edwards sales last week caught me. And Pinkfresh Studio’s sales. So now I’m officially jumping back in the freezer, ideally for the rest of the summer, but at least through after the independence holiday. I’m shooting for another 50 pages before another big purchase. I’m weak.

I am officially frozen. At least through 12/31. I have been scrapping/buying supplies since 2001. I do not NEED anything. But yet another order is on it's way.

I unfroze and picked up some add-on stamps and the Sticker and 12x12 Paper Grab Bags from Paper Person for their recent sale, and added them to my monthly subscription. I also bought one of the Pinkfresh Mystery Boxes from their recent sale. I got a ton of beautiful, usable supplies for a great price, so am happy with those purchases.
I am unsubscribing from Cocoa Daisy next month, and subbing to Hip Kit instead. I will keep my Paper Person kit.
Now am just waiting to see if Pinkfresh will have a Christmas collection before deciding which Christmas supplies to order. Am hoping to stay (mostly) frozen after that purchase. Fingers crossed!

I am still frozen. I have too much stuff to begin with and am honestly tired of spending money on crap that just fills the house overall. Just because I can afford to buy it doesn't mean I need to have it.

still frozen for the most part - in July I've bought 3 packs of adhesive (to replace the 3 packs I used up) and one stamp that I've already used

I keep putting things in shopping carts and then changing my mind because I have SO MANY works in progress and I just don’t have the energy to get them all done. I’m also trying to remind myself (still, again) that I have plenty of things I haven’t used much. Looks like the last 2 times I went shopping were both at Concord and 9th and I got some cool dies that I have used (I think). One splurge per month in April, May and June is not bad, especially because I resisted buying anything this month and I’ve finished off a few things.

Now that it's mid year how is everyone doing on their spending goals? I think I'm doing okay. This week I ordered two albums that I need, but at good prices. I've given myself free reign to buy stickers at the Dollar Tree in the past few months. I use them, they're inexpensive, and they give me that infusion of new that sparks my creativity. On the other hand, I have not bought stamps or dies in years, so a good balance? Overall, I'm happy (so far) with my spending. I haven't bought for holiday/Christmas scrapping yet, though.

I've been remarkably restrained this year and I'm incredibly proud of how much I've cut back on my shopping. I've had very few parcels come in this year, and everything I've bought has been carefully considered before I hit buy. I always said I'd allow myself to shop the FJ birthday sale which is usually late Aug, but after that I'll be back in the freezer for a while.
