christinec68 is doing a really cool challenge, making 50 pages before buying any new scrappy stuff! I thought this was a great idea, and planned on doing it myself and thought there might be other people who wanted to join in. So here is where we can keep track, check in, vent if need be and then finally celebrate when we get to make that hard earned scrappy purchase! Join in whenever you want, and keep posting to this thread for encouragement, to show your progress, and positive feedback! It doesn't matter what "round" you are on (round 2 for me) just jump in! __________________________________________________________________________________________________________Edited to add, I finished!!! Whew! That was a long and interesting process! I plan on updating when I have a page complete, to track myself. I am scrapping tonight and I just finished a page, so 49 48 47 to go. 2 more done! (this is an unusual week as I am off work) so at 45 now. Two more pages done...now at 43. Now at 42.41. 4 pages done during the crop today (thanks msliz !!!) so 37 left to go! 35 3330. 28 (I fell off the wagon a little, needed some lake paper and so used my last 20 bucks of birthday money and got some. But it was a very specific, needed purchase and will be used right away when it gets here) 24...tonight was a good night! Finished Apple Orchard 2019, 4 more layouts! 20. 19!! 18!! Finished a baby LO from 2009, whew...so now 17 left to go! 16 14 left! 13! Friday night crop was very motivating! Now 11 left to go! Final countdown...#8! Good luck!

I could do with some accountability to focus on using my stash and not shopping so I'll join in. I'm still working on my Dec album and I'm choosing not to count those pages towards my total so I'll come back and check in once I move onto 12x12 pages again.
Thanks for the starting this thread.
ETA a counter: 9 layouts to go
Round two after I fell off the wagon at the start of April: 38 layouts to go
Third attempt: 0 layouts to go!!

I can do this....I think. I have a scrap camp end of January so will start making page kits, so it just may be achievable - mind you, I did buy a paper pad this morning before reading this thread

This sounds like a plan... I bought tonnes of scrappy items today.I don't even want to share how much money I spent (gaahh!). However, compared to previous years of non-stop spending, I have gotten so much better when it comes to scrap supplies. I'm not perfect, but I am a lot better. Is there some kind of hashtag we can use if we post our layouts to IG? That could be a fun way to showcase and keep track of our work too But yeah, I am definitely in... right now I am finishing up my second layout of the day. So 48 more layouts to go!

I’m in! I do have my subs, but plan to be frosty otherwise. I’d like to make it until iNSD sales, unless the conventions start back up, then it will be until then.

@kendramage thanks for joining me and starting a thread! Way to go getting started already!! I have a plan for working in batches...pick pics, make page kits, try to incorporate some kind of technique (foiling, cameo, stamping, etc.), make the page and repeat. I would love to add a scrap class component to this process but I don't want to create too many obstacles. We'll see how that part goes. I'll share my progress here too.

Question for everyone. At the 50-page milestone, will you give yourself a spending limit? Are you planning to “pay” yourself for each completed page or for used product somehow? I’ve seen others who put $1 (or other amount) per completed page or used up item into the spending “balance” that can be used at the milestone.

I am going to buy myself something scrappy that I really want, it might be 10 dollars, it might be more. I am going to really pay attention to what I use during this time, and take inventory as to what I gravitate toward, as I am done with buying stuff just to buy. Most likely I will buy a new cutter but we shall see!

I'm in!
I have a backlog of photos that I really want to scrap. Halloween, several birthdays, autumnal change of colors. Then in January I'll get my DD pics printed.

I don’t have a predetermined amount but in general my orders are in the $50-75 range. I guess I’ll see where my stash stands after the 50 pages. Something tells me it won’t make a noticeable difference.

This is an awesome idea! I'll have to decide whether my christmas GCs are included in the freeze - as a reward at the end or not. I'm saving the GCs until some new stuff gets into the store anyhow so I might as well make them the goal!
I'm going to add photo processing/printing to my goal list however. I'm going to count it as 4 pages/month of photos finished. That will give me great incentive. And I'll share a photo or two from each month as I go to keep myelf accountable!

I used to do something like this--each completed page = $1-5 to spend--but how would you all count double page layouts? As 2 or 1? (Because I totally want to count them as 2)

This is perfect timing. I need motivation to not only stop buying for a while but to actually scrap. I have the winter blahs and absolutely no mojo right now.
Does anyone have any idea on how long it will take them to complete 50 layouts?

Does anyone have any idea on how long it will take them to complete 50 layouts? I'm not sure how long it will take me to do 50 layouts...probably at least a couple months. SUHWEET I think I'm in--IF--we can still get clubs we've subscribed to, I just joined the small die of the month from SB. Ooh, another question--do/can cards count? For me, I am just counting layouts, since my default when I don't "feel" like scrapbooking is to make cards. But I really need to push myself to get my scrappy groove back and use some of my supplies that way. I think each to their own? If you want to count cards, go for it!

Cool beans! I'll say 5 cards=1 page for me. Elsabelle I am a slow scrapper, I average 4-5 layouts/month, although sometimes those are double pages, and a handful of cards, so for me, I think I will reach 50 pages in 5-6 months. This will (hopefully) probably light a fire under me, though, so I do more, because I don't want to miss NSD sales.

I would make the rules work for you. For example, if you make one card a week and use lots of supplies I would probably go with yes, count cards. But I sometimes sit down to make 35 cards from one paper pad in a few days, so in that case it wouldn't make as much sense, if you know what I mean. With digital pages + cards I could be done with 50 next week and I would've used up hardly anything, so I'd count differently.

I could go weeks or a month without scrapping and then I’ll scrap a lot for a while. Let’s hope this is a scrap a lot phase for me so I won’t miss out either.

I'm less than a day in and about to fall off the wagon. Send help, LOL. I understand. I had committed to freezing for a few months and ended up lasting one month. I was confessing my sins to DH and he asked if I really liked the stuff and I said yes and then he said there’s no problem then. He’s a very sweet enabler. In my defense who has been able to resist Vicki Boutin’s Storyteller collection?

I would say cards totally count, if that’s what you want to do, and if your goal is to use up some supplies before buying more, then making cards helps you do that!

I didn't scrap today, but I started putting together page kits.
I slipped pics in page protectors by event, then added stickers (and paper, to some).
I'm hoping to start churning out layouts later this week.
I need to find layouts to scraplift on Pinterest

Walk away from the computer! (ps. what is it?) LOL - I somehow resisted temptation. Although I must admit, I shopped until I dropped thanks to several post-Christmas scrapbooking sales. This latest temptation was a 20% off sale at www.kc-scrapbooking.com/ (Canadian scrapbooking store). I honestly don't need anything - I just like to add items to my scrap stash I think I am going to scrap 100 pages before I buy anything scrappy. I once challenged myself to scrap 30 pages before allowing myself a scrappy purchase, and I was able to scrap 30 pages within a week, LOLOLOL.

I don't have a whole lot of new stuff as I was on a scrapbooking hiatus for almost 5 years, and during this time, I didn't buy anything. So I think I am now making up for lost time. In any case, I didn't buy anything today, and I completed a few layouts as well
