So, I’ve done Project Life once. In 2012 when we lived in India. Now I’m starting to think I want to do one again, mainly because next year could be a big year of changes for us, moving, COVID vaccine, etc. I’m drawn to Elle Studio’s clean look but can’t get the monthly kit because I live in Dubai.
What size do you do? What makes it a great size? What printables would be good (maybe IACB?)? I would pretty much have to do it without page protectors at first and put it in an album this summer when I either visit or move. Unless I do 12x12 WRMK divided page protectors like before but I’m leaning towards slightly smaller. Do you follow any blogs/Instagram I could use for inspiration?
I would continue doing my regular scrapbook pages too. I’m trying to figure out if I want to take on this huge project again (I do love my 2012 album)

I do 12x12 and like it because I can always find pages protectors. If I was going to use printable, I would do IACB and SC (they are having a $1 sale right now). In the spirit of honesty, I dont actually use digitals much. Im too lazy for that, lol. I love using a 6x6 pad and cutting the papers down to make cards and then embellish with stickers, enamel dots, etc.. I dont follow anyone for inpspiration, but I do pin things on Pinterest.
Since you can't put them in a book til Summer, have you thought about doing digital and just printing at the end of the year or getting a book printed?

I do 12x12. Sometimes my album is bursting, sometimes not. I’m 55, married, one adult child. I don’t currently have a subscription, but I do have a nice stash of Kelly Purkey and Ali Edwards cards and stamps. I started PL in 2012, and the first few years my albums were very full with lots of sewing and embellishments. I’ve done straight chronological, weekly, and monthly. I’m back to monthly for 2020. Here is where I confess I haven’t scrapped since March. I just started on my 2020 album yesterday and completed Jan/Feb. My style has become very minimal. For inspiration I would look at Ali Edwards, Amy Gretchen, Kelly Purkey and fellow pea instagram.com/lindalovescreating?igshid=53llsiipyr5m AE SBTM or SBTY is a good starting point for basic supplies.

I’m trying to figure out if I want to take on this huge project again (I do love my 2012 album) It only has to be a huge project if you choose to make it that way. I think you'll struggle to do any sort of pocket page documenting without page protectors. If you're not prepared to use the 12x12 page protectors you have, you'll need to figure out a system and way to store your completed cards/photos until you are able to put them in page protectors. Maybe numbered zipped bags for each double page spread would work. Personally, this will be my fifth year of doing 6x8 and I absolutely love it, but appreciate it's not a size for everyone. I don't tell every story and choose to focus on highlights so it works well for me. It keeps it manageable for me too - in both the amount of work and storage for completed album.

If I were in your situation with limited access to supplies I would use the PL app. You can import digital cards if you want specific designers or of course use the thousand of cards in the app.
I use the PL app for vacation albums (100+ pages) and use PL products in my yearly albums but I have never done PL in the traditional sense.

If you are considering the PL app I highly recommend the Simple Project Life group on FB. The lead admin, Jenna, just did a series of 4 videos and posts on recommendations for planning and setting up pages for the entire year. It is truly amazing what people can do just in the app. There is also a sister group called App Scrapping and Beyond (?) that delves into other apps too, like Over.

If you want this huge project to be less huge while maintaining your favourite (larger) format, consider going monthly like most of us do now and coming up with a monthly recap page design. It helps with keeping the width of your album in check and focusing on the photos you really want to keep for the long run. I manage to fill a whole year in one 6x8 album by using the monthly recap page system. I'm considering going seasonal for next year as it'll be 2020: part 2, basically, with very limited outings and no travel. Typed-out monthly recap pages are really fun as smaller inserts like 8.5x11 in a 12x12 or 9x12 album (all the rage in the PL community these days).
I've pretty much moved on from buying PL-specific product right now. I still buy the occasional kit or card set from Kelly Purkey but I mostly rely on my own skills and minimalist aesthetic. You really don't *need* an actual PL kit to make this project happen.

I do PL on a monthly basis. I use a 12x12 binder but various size pages. Any thing from 3x12 to the occasional 12x 12 full page non pocket layout.
6x8 is also a good size i us that for trips and other small projects.

Once I did an entire year in the PL app. All design A and then printed the pages 8x8. It was great! I didn’t have to scale back on photos, still did it weekly and the finished album is easy to handle and store. I can’t remember if it all fit into one 8x8 album....I’ll have to check. I think there is an option to print 10x10 as well. You can still find 8x8 pp on Amazon or even Becky Higgins site. I really need to do this again. I love my 12x12 albums but they are beastly. Hope you find an option that works for you.

Or you can export app pages to your favorite photo lab or photo book company. Lots of options!

I love using a 6x6 pad and cutting the papers down to make cards and then embellish with stickers, enamel dots, etc.. I dont follow anyone for inpspiration, but I do pin things on Pinterest. I'm the same way. Out of sight, out of mind. I haven't came up with a great organization system for those. The paperperson.com is another good source for digital products.
I have had better luck with organizing photos on my computer. I have photos organized by year and month. As things happen, I'll sometimes include a text document in that folder too. It's my personal notes section.
If there's a few events in a month, I'll organize them into folders like kid 3 birthday, Halloween, Pumpkin patch, and misc. I'm not super picky about it being chronological. It's close enough if all October photos are with each other. I find it easier to scrap all the Halloween in one protector with some fun themed items.
I use PhotoSheet program on my laptop and typically get a lot of 4x3 or 3x4 photos on one 4x6. Since I tend to take a lot of vertical photos with my phone, I've been using a lot of Echo Park 12 slot 4x3 page protectors.
I do the 12x12 size and I do it monthly. I don't know that it is a great size, but I can fit a lot into one album and it's easier for me to find that size of protector. My life is quite boring, so I'm not concerned about 1 or 2 albums a year. If an album is full at 06/30/2017, I label the next album 07/01/2017- whenever it is full. I'm not concerned with having too many bulky albums because I don't scrap a lot of photos each year.
This is my idea board on Pinterest. I'm not good at remembering the names of most scrappers, but maybe one in there will inspire you. I don't know why it's not going to the actual board, but pins on the board...! Anyway, you can click on my board name on the individual pin.
