Update: the IUD is still there, but I also have a prominent cyst on my ovary. I haven't heard from my Dr yet, and I've never had a cyst before....that's where the pain was from?

Glad your IUD is still there, but sorry about the cyst! Those hurt! And usually they don't do anything about them.

Any peas with an IUD have issues with it moving? I've had my IUD since February, and after the initial spotting/bleeding it's been pretty good. The last 3 weeks, I've been spotting, and I've had random sharp pain in my abdomen. I sent a message to my Dr, and she said to come in. I went yesterday, and she did an exam, and couldn't find the strings. She ordered an ultrasound to see where it is, but they didn't have an opening until 1/13. I'm trying not to worry too much. Anyone here have IUD issues? How did it go??? Ovarian cyst is one of the worst pains I have ever had

Missed this the first time. I had very heavy and long periods and had about 3 days a month I wasn't bleeding. They inserted an IUD. After about 2 weeks, the periods came back with a vengeance. They couldn't find the IUD and instead found a giant fibroid (cantaloupe size). I didn't have any pain, but could have used a sheep as a maxi pad.

That was another issue I had - the IUD didn’t solve the heavy bleeding problem, and in fact caused me to bleed continuously for the six months I had it in. Big nope. (It was also several large fibroids in my case.)

Ovarian cyst is one of the worst pains I have ever had Did they remove it or do anything? They prescribed BC pills as the hormones in them helped shrink it. I now know I was estrogen dominant, which ultimately caused a whole host of other problems

Ovarian cysts are definitely a pain! I had one in '16, and they didn't remove it. (I was sent straight to the ER from the doctor who I saw because she thought it might be my appendix.)
They just sort of monitor it, but since going on birth control, it's not been an issue.

It will depend on your dr, the size of the cyst and your symptoms what they do. I’ve had them removed. I’ve had them burst and I’ve had them left alone and monitored. I’ve never used birth control to treat them because I’ve had them develop while on birth control but I also had one develop while I was pregnant. That one they removed during my c-section.
