Hi, Happy New Year, Crafty Peas! Does new year equal new projects? Or is it your mission to finish up WIPs this year? What are your crafty goals? I couldn't wait for the new year for new projects. I started working on this wrap this week. Plus my Christmas blanket isn't even midway done yet. And that will be a 2021 project. And I still have all the yarn for Happy Trees too. So we will see how that goes. This month I'm participating in the scrapbook board challenges. They always have an other crafts challenge outside of scrapbooking that they can earn points for. This month, we are welcoming them to our thread as it's a bit busier. grammadee if you'd like to link this thread on the GS board, that would be great. I know you ladies here will welcome more crafters to our thread. Anyone, happy crafting everyone!

Happy New year, jeremysgirl and all our crafters. I've made a list for 2021. I have eight projects on the list so far. Three are wips. My current project, the Queen CAL has about 15 rows left to finish the body of the blanket, then it's time to tackle the double border, something I've not done before but I love the fact that it will mean I don't have to deal with the yarn ends. I am planning to sort all my stash with the hope to use up as much as possible on smaller projects. Looking forward to getting stuck into new plans Eta also thinking about getting my camera out again, it's been awhile.

I cannot wait to see that Queen finished. I want to see gillyp Queens too. I've seen some gorgeous ones in the Facebook group.

I didn't quite finish up everything I planned to before yesterday, so that is my first aim. I have already woven in all the ends on a sweater I finished a couple of weeks back, and it now just needs to be washed and dried to even out the stitches (It is fair isle, so a bit wonky) and I'll be able to wear it. I also have a cardigan from an online class I did back at the start of November, which needs just a few rows more to be done. It is a top-down, all one piece pattern, so finishing for it will just be weaving in a few ends and a wash.
Apart from that, more overall goals: I want to be more mindful about my knitting. Think about what I am making, who for and what role it will play. I want to be more focussed on actually finishing things, and not letting my imagination run away with ideas, so that I have too many WIPs taking up space both in my apartment and in my head. I also want to be mindful about my stash - what needs to be rehomed, plans (at least general) for what I have and keep, and only buying for a specific project when I have no suitable stash options.
I already have a list of 4 or 5 sweater projects I want to do and have the yarn ready to go, and I will also just keep a sock on the go for easy knitting, and appointments.

jeremysgirl well, the eight are mixture of small and larger projects, plus three are already underway so not eight brand new big projects. I just hope none of the designers launch a fabulous CAL half way through the year! You must have done more than eight this last year?

sueg I like your crafty goals. I did a very similar thing in 2019. Finished up WIPs. And got rid of a lot of stash. Donated so much yarn I didn't have any plans for. And have been much more mindful of what I'm bringing into the house. Not as many impulse purchases. More realistic planning going on.

One was a WIP that laid around for 5 years unfinished. I also have four right now incomplete to finish in the new year. But I think with all the sheltering in 2020 I accomplished more than normal. ETA: I did two hats too but I don't tend to count them as they are so small and quick.

Happy new year crafty Peas
I'm making the Open socks (pattern pic below) in a yarn I got from Hobbii earlier last year, it's the finest yarn I've ever knit with and it's very slow going! I'm almost done with the first sock.
I usually make a list in December of the projects I want to do in the coming year, this years list says 'make Open socks' and that's it!

lainey I saw in the accomplishment thread you actually did twelve pairs in. 2020. I did not realize just from the craft thread that you had made that many. Did everyone on your Christmas shopping list get a pair or did you keep them all?

I am part of the 'selfish knitters and crocheters' group on Ravelry. Our motto is 'knit what you want, when you want, for whoever you want'. I mostly knit for me, but also for my kids and grandchild, and for the occasional other special baby.

I’m very excited for 2021 to get started but that’s mostly because 2020 was such a crappy year. I have most of January at home and because we’re under lockdown I will truly be at home for the next couple of weeks. Lots of quilting projects on the go: both piecing and machine quilting. Unfortunately, I fell off my bike yesterday and injured my shoulder so not sure how that will impact my sewing. So please post lots of pictures so I can live vicariously until my shoulder heals.

Hello all and happy new crafty month! Already some lovely makes posted! I’m looking forward to seeing things from the scrapping board too. I have posted LOs there maybe a grand total of 3 times. I had hoped to have finished both Queens and the bat shawl by now but due to time restraints and total exhaustion I have done nothing crafty for the last 6 weeks, so my immediate goals are finish the coloured Queen, finish the other Queen, finish the bat shawl and start and finish Tinna’s Montana pocket shawl. I picked up the coloured Queen just after Christmas and have nearly finished the back border wellway. Tinna says starting it off is tricky and she’s not joking! I think I said to myself “Tinna says it’s worth it” while doing every stitch. I’m hoping the other one will be easier as the yarn for that one is nicer to use. jeremysgirl I’ll post a pic when it’s complete but this is how it looked yesterday.

Happy New Year! This will be a UFO and stash busting year in my sewing room. With the exception of one baby quilt, my plan is to try to decrease the size of my stash. There are seven quilts from last year's list of ten that need to be finished, as well numerous small projects. They are all in various stages of completion, some almost done and others are just a stack of fabric/instructions. Making more small gifts (zipper bags, totes, etc) is something I want to focus on this year. Thinking the immediate satisfaction will provide motivation, as well as use up more fabrics. I've discovered that I enjoy making something and mailing it off to an unsuspecting friend/relative, so I plan to do more of that this year.
The other thing I plan to spend more time on is needlepoint. It's easy to work on while I watch tv and keeps my hands busy. I would like to learn how to finish my own projects as well. It's really painful to write those big checks to the finishers (not to mention the long waits!).

gillyp I love the colors. And you've got a helper too! You are pretty close to finished. That must feel good. I thought you were very ambitious taking on two at once.

I recently competed my annual end of the year project of researching temperature blankets and deciding not to do one. I have been working on cleaning out the room where I keep my stash of yarn and it's ridiculous how much yarn I have leftover from previous projects or projects that I planned to do, but never did. This fall I completed a scrap blanket that I had been working on for a couple years and I loved it. It was a double strand using a cream colored yarn and then all the leftovers from my various Attic24 blankets. I am now working on a granny square scrap blanket using my Attic 24 leftovers. I love it so far and will keep it going until I run out of yarn. I like that you can keep adding to them later on when you complete other projects.
So now, I think I'm working on a plan to get rid of my stash of Red Heart types of yarn. I'm thinking that I'm going to work on a bunch of lap size blankets for using in the car. the first one is going to be for me. I bought one for $1.5 at a thrift store that I always have on my lap when we drive home from hockey games. It's not pretty, but it's a good functional blanket.
But I'm a realist. I will be ordering the crochet along blanket from Attic 24 today. I should have done it a couple weeks ago so that I could have started on January 8th, but I shouldn't be too far behind when it comes.

I’m half way through the other one but will finish this first then give the other my full attention. They are both the small versions, I couldn’t have managed two large ones. I have really enjoyed doing them! My helper is normally constructing Parkour courses around the kitchen with her brother.

ellen the Attic24 blanket colors were gorgeous. I was very tempted. I'm curious to see the pattern. But I might commit. I could use a project that is just mindless and repetitive. And the Attic24 blankets once you get them going are usually pretty easy.

Happy New Year crafter peas. I have some mini projects in 1/12th and 1.48th scale to finish up and a freestyle embroidery to make along with using new fabrics bought last year. Mostly I will be making the minis I hade in my Advent calendar, 25 brand new kits, and then a new house to put them in . Going to do a 1950s home as close to what my parents had (or would of liked) when they got married. Lots of research needed for that project. I also have a bit of a competition going with my DS to use resin in different ways in our model making. He`s winning so far by making foam tips on waves, I`ve only done a pond. But as for today the craft room needs a tidy and a good hoovering and then I`m going to eat chocolate and watch Doctor Who.

My goal this month is to knit 2 sweaters for my grandsons that have birthdays this month. I'm also planning to stay 'cold sheep' and only use stash, no yarn purchasing thru 2021. I've been on cold sheep a year mid Jan, and plan on going for 2 years. I'm also going to try to not buy any fabric for at least 3 months. My goal this year is to use stash only--when I moved my craft room last year it was eye-opening to see all my 'supplies'.

I am all in on the temperature quilt for my kiddo from her first year of life. I REALLY should use my stash but I'm going to get fabric. I need 15 colors and I don't have 15 from one line nor do I have enough to make a quilt that requires 110 HST of one color. soooo.... I'm going to buy fabric. ALL the fabric. Moda Grunge to be exact. Bought a 4.5" HST die. I already have a 5" so why not one that's only .5" smaller, right? It just makes the size work out better. Yes, that .5" matters. I will most likely end up doing a tie quilting on it because I am cheap and don't want to pay someone to long arm it and I'm not about to hand quilt it! I will probably even use store bought binding (gasp) if I don't feel like doing a pieced binding. I may do a pieced binding from scraps tho. It remains to be seen. I will have to piece the backing because it's going to be QUEEN size when it's done. I finished the kids shutterfly books that are supposed to be presents for the grandparents for CHRISTMAS but I need to get pictures off my school computer that is at school so that will have to wait until next week when I get the computer and airdrop the pics to my person computer. THEN I can bust that out and get them ordered and sent. Then there are the random vinyl projects that pop up along the way.

I am taking the building blocks class (mostly via Zoom) through my favorite knitting shop. One block per month and then you connect them all at the end of the year. Many of you inspired me to do a 2021 temperature blanket. My NYE was plotting my colors. I realize both of these may seem like a lot but I will compartmentalize. DD14's circus school is holding classes but the parents can't go in and watch due to COVID. She has many 1 hour classes, where it's just not worth it for me to go home. So I think I'll plan to keep the temp blanket stuff in the car and knit while I am waiting for her. I want to get fully up to speed on socks and making myself some. I also want to make myself some lighter mittens. Finally I finished this Astoria Top for DD last night (still has to be blocked) and since that was my first clothing (vs. accessory) item, I'd like to give more a try. I also want to use more of my stash which I've now hung in cakes on a pegboard in my office. That seems like a lot. We'll see how I do!
