I am taking a Zoom class through my knit shop based on the Building Blocks book. You create one block a month with a different pattern, and at the end of the year you have 12 blocks they teach you how to stitch together. After taking the January installment and finishing the first block, I've decided to make two blocks per month for a bigger blanket, with 24 blocks I'll probably set it up as a 4X6 block blanket. I decided on using five colors, I'll use all colors four times except the white, which I'll use eight times. During the zoom call, they had us share our colors, and everyone was pretty much doing one or two color blankets and then when I shared my colors there was an audible kind of shocked gasp from the rest of the group. Oh well - I love my colors! The knit shop recommended using Hikoo simpliworsted yarn. My first block (unblocked) is about 13 inches square. Julie - I think that is going to look great when you're done. Montannie - I am so sorry about your kitty.

Has anyone made rugs before? Latch hook or punch needle or whatever other techniques there are? I'm having trouble finding what I want for our bedroom and was awake in the night thinking maybe I could make one...maybe?

Well, "made" would suggest I actually finished it but I did try my hand at a sunflower rug to have under my feet while I crafted. It's about half done and years old. I'm not sure how big you can go with kit versions. How big were you thinking?

You are probably too young! They were too expensive for me but I always fancied making one. I've just looked and they are still going and have yarn and needlework things too! www.readicut.co.uk/rugs.htmlMy grandmother made rag rugs and I've always hankered after doing one of those.

They're lovely sueg What's next? I cast on another pair of socks as soon as I finished these, as it was late afternoon and I don’t have to think much about socks. i have two jumpers planned to start soon - I just need to decide which one to start first, and get everything I need sorted.

My neon arrived I've got two pairs to finish before I can cast it on. I'm saying it out loud here that I want both pairs done by the end of this month! Hold me accountable ladies.

I was trying to work out how to make the magic heel work over 56 stitches instead of the 60 stated in the pattern, it's not difficult maths but I had a pen and paper and a calculator and I still couldn't work it out!!

My neon yarn should arrive tomorrow, according to DHL. I already have cast on another pair of socks and a toddler cardigan, so it may be a while until I get to it.

One of the things I want to do this year is knit more things for myself. Last week I knit this Just Another Diamond Day hat in white for myself, but it was a little tighter and shorter than I wanted, so I set it aside for DD14 and made myself another one in gray, adding some width and length. Next I am going to make myself some Moss Stitch Fingerless Mitts, while also continuing to work on my temperature blanket.

Well you have rubbed off on me. I was doing something REALLY simple. I needed 16 clusters in the round, and I kept only putting 15. I wasn't skipping stitches either. I don't know what I was doing. Today will be a better day!

Should be busy today as I'm coming back from 10 days off and my coworker and boss are out. I might not after my busy day have the mental wherewithal to pull my blanket out of the naughty corner today. Haha!
