How is your Woodland blanket coming along? Slowly! But I finally seem to have made it past making constant mistakes. I’m working on it right now and am probably about 40” or so into it. I’d bet if I hadn’t had to rip things out so much I’d be at about 60.” This is by far the most time consuming project of any sort that I’ve taken on in a very long while! I plan on making it an oversized throw. The width without border is 57” and i plan on the length being about 70.” The other throw I made in the late fall was with bulky yarn and I thought THAT took a long time. Ha! How do y’all part with your Afghans and blankets after putting so many hours into them???  It's so pretty! I'm so glad you learned to crochet. Isn't it great when it gets long enough that it's cozy to be underneath it while you work? That's usually when I fall in love with my project. I have three Attic 24 blankets in a closet that I am giving as graduation gifts this spring. I knew who was getting each one as I was making them. I always feel like I am working good vibes for them into the blanket. Now and then I declare that a blanket will be for me and I stick with that. |

Oh dear jeremysgirl - don't kick yourself any more! Sometimes we just need time away from something don't we  I just think my brain is completely worthless after 7 pm. I cannot seem to make any magic happen in the evening. I'd have a better shot at 5 am. I'm certain that was my problem.  That's why I craft on the weekend. After teaching all day (and especially this year!) I just can't do anything but surf the web and veg out. Nothing that requires mental attention. |

I love everyone's projects and I love the woodland blanket. I started to crochet a afghan and I am just not loving it. It is bulky yarn and just not as soft as I would like. It is a granny type thing with rows vs squares will lots of holes and while I loved it at first it has been sitting untouched for over a year. I would really like to make one of these I love ripple afghans instead. I am seriously considering frogging it - I am a couple of skeins in but dislike it more every time I look at it.
How hard is the woodland blanket? I am still a beginner at crochet. I have made a few simple scarves and pumpkins. I am more of a knitter but wanted to learn to crochet so went to a class and then saw this afghan and started it but quickly fell out of love with it. I want something with more drape. Of course if I buy more yarn especially enough to make another afghan I have to finish. I have always wanted to make a ripple afghan though. I knit a afghan with cables with chunky yarn and I like it but would prefer something thinner and again with more drape but it has to be something simpler. I love the more complex ones I see on here but I know I would get discouraged and never finish vs something a bit easier.

Scrapper100 I think you will be well able to do a ripple blanket. MichyM is a newbie at crochet and is doing a great job. There is plenty of support, photos etc on Attic24's blog and help here too if you decide to give it a go. Although I love the woodland colours and have made the woodland ripple, if you would prefer other colours check out ravrely to see other colour combos.

MichyM when I start a blanket, I already know if I'm giving it away or not. Usually, when I pick a blanket to do it's because I'm trying a new to me technique or I love the finished look or I'm trying new yarn. I think knowing you are giving it away before you start is easier to do than deciding to part with it later.

The hair is great! That little doll really makes me smile. I can envision a whole lot of them, in different outfits but always with the mask and gloves. Y’know, like in a deck chair in swim shorts or dressed as Santa. It just appeals to my sense of humour.
Bernie Sanders has had the image from the inauguration put on T-shirts and they are being sold for charity.

Scrapper100 I think any of Lucy's patterns on Attic 24 are suitable for beginners. The woodland would be a great choice. And you could do the pattern in any color scheme. Lucy has some great ones. MichyM your woodland is coming along fantastic. I give away a lot of my blankets and other projects and I will say that for me, I enjoy the process of crochet. And I am a process over product person. It's just a personal preference really. When I choose a pattern it is because it is something I really want to make. For my own sense of accomplishment really. I want to try a technique or I'm drawn to a color pallette. I am very likely too to give something away that just doesn't do it for me. Others will find it beautiful but I've gotten to the end and I'm just like, meh? That happens to me quite a bit. So even something I might start with myself in mind I get done with it and am just not thrilled. And then, too, there is the feeling involved with gifting. I love when I gift to someone who finds my gift an act of love. Because it absolutely is when I choose something with the intention of giving it away. And also there's only so much I can handle keeping. When you've been doing this for 20 years, I cannot imagine what kind of storage I would need had I kept all those blankets I made over the years! Yikes! Ha! But, I think it's perfectly alright if you never give anything away. It's your time and your money that goes into a project. You have to do what you feel comfortable with.

It's easier than the Woodland. I have made so many blankets using the Neat Ripple pattern and they always end up looking great. Once you get your first stripe done, you just keep repeating it with different colors. What I like is that you don't have to think too much about what you are doing while you are making it. There isn't a lot of counting and you get into a rhythm quickly. If you bought the Woodland pack and used the Ripple pattern you'd have a blanket that looks very much like what MichyM has going on just with a little less texture and you wouldn't have the little skipped stitches. That being said, MichyM is a beginner and she made the Woodland as her first big project and it's freaking gorgeous. It makes me want to make one. I've become a fan of the Dahlia Spike blanket - it's easy and you end up with a blanket that looks like a great big sweater. I love it. Neat Ripple tutorial |

I'm wearing my Open socks, I really like them and the fit is lovely but they are riddled with mistakes. I've no idea how but after I picked the instep back up to knit the gusset I somehow managed to shift the whole pattern over by one stitch, and because I'm a knitting numpty I did this on both of them  I do love that colour!

Even with your tiny mistakes, which no one but you will know about, these are HAPPY SOCKS! I’d wear them on the ugly, dark, dreary days just to pick up my spirits! |

Slowly would be the answer to that lainey , but I'm doing a bit each day. I am doing magic loop - thanks sueg ! - which is taking a bit of getting used to and yesterday while sliding the stitches along I accidentally pulled all the stitches off one side  but it's all good now  Also just doing a quick beanie for Dh with some wool from my Mum's collection which I've inherited  That blanket looks so complicated!! |
