You guys, there is a crafty post on the GS board about the 100 day project. I'm curious if any of you crafters have done this before and know what it entails. I think it would be just the thing to get me motivated on my Happy Little Tree blanket. I could manage one hexagon a day. But here's what I'm curious about, it seems like it may be for something that is a challenge to you. And the hexagons are very beginner, so I wouldn't be challenging my creative mind with it. The challenge for me would be the perseverance needed to complete the project and stay on target with the hexagon a day. Anyone interested in participating in that kind of challenge? Anyone want to weigh in on whether my hexagon a day in the Happy Tree blanket wouldn't be in keeping with the spirit of the challenge? the100dayproject.org/

jeremysgirl - I do believe your project is in the spirit of the challenge. What you are doing is a motivational boost to your crafting. motivated on my Happy Little Tree blanket. . I joined another 100-day project that has me journaling to a specific prompt every day, one given to me through a paid class. I do write anyway, but never to a prompt that someone else provides and that I had to pay to get. It's been tough going up to my desk, knowing that I really have to stretch myself. I've added a 2nd challenge in that I vowed to use just one page of my 9x12 notebook. So far, so good.

I am terrible about journaling, but I thought (in my scrapbooker, memory keeper head) that the Happiness Project 5 year journal would be fun. So I started January 1. It's basically a two sentence a day kind of journal but I thought that would at least get me started. And it might be fun at the end of 5 years to see what I was actually up to each day.

Okay, so this is my first time posting in one of these threads...but I started following along, sometime in November, and realized I really wanted to start some kind of craft. I haven't scrapped in ages, and DH and I like to watch TV together in the evenings and it's hard for me to just watch and not do something else.
So a good friend of mine, who is local, gave me a cross stitch kit (meant for children! lol) in late November, to try and I just love it! I completed that in 4 nights, then went on to make 3 Christmas ornaments (2 of which I gifted, to my parents and in-laws, for Christmas).
So now I've fallen deep into the cross stitch rabbit hole. I'm still working on some ornaments, because I bought a kit of 6 and have only fully finished one so far (though another will be done either tonight or tomorrow night). I'm also working on a primitive cat piece that I'm super excited about.
I always thought I was awful at handcrafts, and so admired those who made beautiful things. It's been a huge thrill for me to fall in love with cross stitching! Looking forward to participating on this thread!

Shoot, I forgot to say, that yes, I've done the 100 Days Project the last few years, but none were craft related. I did doodles one year, journal writing another, and last year I did an affirmation a day because I really needed to work on banishing negative self-talk. I am definitely wanting to tie the project in to my cross stitching this year, though.

I actually think that anyone can be good at handcrafts or handwork of some sort - it is often just a matter of finding something you enjoy and that fits your skill set. I was a primary school teacher, and now work in after school care, and I my students have always surprised me at what they can do, if they put their mind to it.

I'm doing duolingo, over six hundred days now and my hint to you is to pick a time that fits easily into your day. I always do my lesson at breakfast with a cuppa. Then I go about the rest of the day without having to remember to do it. How about deciding a size for your hexagon and trying to come up with different looks, based on colour, stitch selection and grouping. I'd love to see how you were progressing so be sure to post here.

I also have a Travellers notebook that I want to start doing some kind of collage journalling in. I'm going to go through my scrapbook stuff and see what I've got. We're locked down for at least the next month so I need something to keep me sane!
I got my yarn from Hobbii earlier, it's all so squishy

I'm about to dive in to the world of glitter tumblers. I'm making 4 beach themed ones for my girl friends for our favorite things exchange. I think I've spent an obscene amount of $ on glitter. I keep buying more from different vendors.
I also will be putting some beachy quotes with HTV on some beach bags and putting together some beachy ornaments with shells in them.
UGH...I really need to put my christmas totes away and clean up my basement to make room to do all these things...that's no fun!

my hint to you is to pick a time that fits easily into your day. I can see this. And I think I may do it over my morning coffee, as well.

Thanks for all the good thoughts. My finger is on the mend, and feeling better everyday. I slammed my hand in my closet door, so I can't even blame anyone else for it. I may be interested in doing that 100 day challenge. I'll have to see if it's something I think I can commit to. jeremysgirl I think working on your hexagons is definitely in the spirit of the challenge! I don't think you have to challenge yourself to learn something new. I got more yarn today, hopefully I can get back to work on my daughter's blanket in the next few days.

Love the projects and excited to have others who do other crafts here! I’m waiting for my fabric and die to show up so I can start my temp quilt for my kiddos first year.

I am on a roll right now! It helps that it is cold and snowy and we are in lockdown, so I don’t have much to do apart from knit. I started these socks back in August, and finished the first one on Jan 2. The second sock was quicker - finished off this morning. These will go to my DiL. I’m just about to cast on another pair, this time for me.

I have plenty of things I could do but no energy for much except breathing. low oxygen levels and a blind boil on my arm means today I am indulging in a pity party. Planning out my next miniature scene is about all I can do today.

I’ve decided to keep all my yarn bands this year! I’m going to add up how much yarn I’ve used in 2021 🙈😁 For some unearthly reason I do tend to keep the bands and I have no clue why. Then I have a clear out and they get binned. I’d really like to be efficient enough to keep a proper workbook listing yarn, needles/hooks, where the pattern came from, swatches of the yarn etc etc. I could keep a band of each colour used in with each project page. I need a proper journal though, not an online or app record. I need to remember to fill it in, too. My husband just came in from the porch with a big box in his arms. “It’s wool” he said with THAT look. If Wool Warehouse would send things in brown packaging I could have said it was for the business. He has no problem with what I buy but I still feel guilty.

And I don't know why. Jeremy never says Boo about my yarn. But I always think, surely he must think I have enough already. Why would I need more at this very minute? LOL!
