**GypsyGirl** - you've been on a roll! Well done! MissBianca - you've been busy too! I'm sorry about the car - glad you weren't hurt though Not too much decluttering progress here. DD outgrew her swimsuits so they went in the donation box along with a couple of books I've finished reading and won't re-read. I have been tossing leftover photos as I scrap. Picked up another 2 big rolling buckets of sticks yesterday in the yard.

I did find a temporary solution to a storage issue in my craft room. When we moved in, I bought BHG 8-cubes to store my albums but DH broke one of them in the assembly process. He wants to see if we can buy replacement parts (but hasn't inventoried yet to see what needs replacing) so I haven't ordered a replacement yet (that and they aren't cheap, sigh) so a bunch of albums have been stacked in the space set aside for it.
I had an OLD 30x15x15 2-cube unit from a 12-piece modular storage set I bought 30 years ago - we're down to a handful of pieces and the rest are in DD's room but this one was in the garage waiting to find a home. I measured the space, dusted it off, and put it there. It holds the albums - some in the cubes and the rest on the top. It won't work out longterm because the albums curently on my desk in progress won't fit but at least for now...the albums are housed.

There is a downside to having trees. Tell me about it. I just spent about $1,000 to have 4 trees trimmed and cleared of deadwood before hurricane seasons kicks into high gear. Of those 4 trees, I own exactly one of them! The other three are neighbors' trees, however, I have to take care of trimming up anything on my side of the property fence. Small price to pay for enjoying the shade they give out I suppose.

Yikes - we have a couple we need to have someone come out and look at to make sure they are healthy and trim back away from the house. Not looking forward to the estimate.

Headed to extra bedroom/craft room to reorganize to my better liking after moving stuff in hastily and not getting back to it after injury.
The kittens joined me to "help" so it didn't get all done but we had fun nonetheless. Tomorrow is another day.

I went through my filing cabinet yesterday and purged tons of stuff. I could have sworn I just did this last year. However, it’s been a few years based on things I found.

I tossed a bunch of old, plastic flower pots last week, plus an ancient partial roll of landscape edging. My garage is looking good.

However, it’s been a few years based on things I found. Ha! Don't be so sure. Based on the fact that I go through my spices twice a year...and just tossed something that expired in 2015....things slip through the cracks!

Well, that was a productive afternoon! Unplanned, but productive nonetheless! DH was finally putting away from his fishing trip. For some reason, he started by donating 2 pairs of shoes and an almost new shirt that didn't fit well. Then he asked a question about where to store something in his overly pack/disorganized office closet. Well, that's all the encouragement I needed! Six pairs of shoes, a couple of model airplane kits, one older carryon suitcase (SO heavy!) and a few odds & ends into the donation bag! A lot of stuff into the recycling bin or shred pile. By me rearranging the stuff on the shelves, a lot of space opened up. That allowed us to clear off a medium size Ikea shelf he has pushed in there. That shelf is in the guest room. DD will check it out later and may take it. If she doesn't it will be rehomed in the guest room. Too good to get rid of. That allowed me to get the golf clubs out of the middle of the floor and into the closet. Looks so much better and he can find what he wants in seconds now. Fishing on one side, hunting on the other side, small things grouped in clear bins on the shelves by hobby. Wasn't planning to declutter today, but glad I did. Happy Father's Day to him!

So how many of you all in this thread belong to your local Buy Nothing group? I know I could scroll back to look but honestly I don't want to since this thread is 26 pages. I discovered our Buy Nothing group a few months ago and wow... there seems to always be someone who will take anything! Even food items. I bought a box of gluten free crackers at Costco, the big box that has two individual bags inside. We opened one bag and did not like them at all. I donated some of that open bag to the squirrels and birds and the rest to the trash can. Then I put the unopened bag on Buy Nothing. There must have been five or six people interested! lol I have put up so much stuff, and then surprisingly dh got involved! He has SO MUCH stuff that he should get rid of but I've said nothing about it and have just been encouraging when he brings me things. I've given away kitchen items, candles, glasses, some larger books (coffee table types), a box of sewing supplies, an old fan (works great but it's SO noisy), games, puzzles, dance costumes from dd... so many things. And although I have taken a few things from the group it's not nearly what I've given away. It's very interesting to see who participates... Because Buy Nothing is very localized there are a lot of people who I know on there. One is a woman I've known casually for many years, so I know her house. It's a smaller sort-of cape cod type house, and they've added a sunroom in the back. She, her dh, and two kids (grown now) have lived there forever (at least 25 years) so you know they've accumulated a ton of stuff. And yet she takes so many things from the Buy Nothing group. I can't imagine what she's doing with it all unless she's selling it somewhere, or unless she's a hoarder. Anyway, I was happy to discover this group and happy to see that there seems to be a taker for anything I've wanted to get rid of.

I finally found the top of my desk and office table yesterday and about 9 square feet of floor space in my scrap room/office yesterday. A lot of random papers, photos, scrapbooking stuff, and DS’s school stuff to go through. I’ve had 2 picture frames sitting on the table for at least a year waiting for me to print the 5x7s to go in them. Picked the photos up from Walgreens this morning and the frames are happily in their new homes in the living room.

I spent most of last week at a family reunion. When we got home, we were able to put most stuff away promptly because they all have homes! Friday I took several bags of clothes, a box of random stuff, a kids card table and a picture that I haven't hung up in this house in the 14 years we've lived here to the local donation center. Saturday was our community's annual recycling event when you can take old electronics, hazardous waste, green waste, expired meds, etc for disposal. I had a microwave and a big plastic bin of old electronics, plus a smaller box of smaller electronics. Also a bin of old spray paints and other stuff like that. So that's all out of my garage.
This week's project will be to finish the garage. I did a lot of work not too long ago and it's time to finish it.
I also cleaned out DH's car and vacuumed it. I need to wipe down the inside. I also will work on my own car.

I've started in my spare/front bedroom which has been yhe catch all for EVERYTHING. Every flat surface, including the floor, was pretty well covered. I'm about 1/3 of the way through throwing stuff away and categorizing and then I will take each category and go through it. It either had a home or it will be donated/thrown away

I'd made lots of progress, but this weekend a few things moved in there again. Some will be leaving shortly, while the other things need to be sorted/purged. It's a never ending cycle with an extra room!

Checking in to see how everyone is doing.
I did absolutely nothing on Sunday, I was completely worn out. Today I packed more stuff in my craft room and had 2 of the 4 kids go through games. I think we will end up getting rid of about 1/2 of them. Just waiting on the other 2 boys to come home from work. I also packed my Disney stuff. I have a small collection of Bernard and Miss Bianca items so I got that together. Not 100% sure where it will go in the new house but it’s at least labeled. I’m struggling again with where to go next now that the craft room is almost done. The big messes and unorganized stuff is DH’s and I can’t help with that.
My dad is struggling with getting rid of stuff but not in a way you would expect. He collects steamship China and no one wants it. Museums are closing, historical societies are selling off collections and he’s come to the realization that a lot of his friends that collect are gone. We are having a similar issue with his railroad stuff. I hate to toss it but a lot of it will either go to rummage sale or in the trash.

We are having a similar issue with his railroad stuff. I hate to toss it but a lot of it will either go to rummage sale or in the trash. my mom had a similar problem after my dad passed away last year. Dad collected farm toys, seed corn company memorabilia, and other scale-model vehicles (Nascar, etc.), in addition to being a taxidermist and building his OWN farm-related models. So there were lots of collectibles that none of us wanted, but were too valuable to donate. They contacted a local auction house... since it was during COVID, they couldn't do an in-person auction, so they did an online one. All my mom and sister had to do was talk to the auction company about which items they thought should be included and pack the items for transport (he had kept the boxes for the toys, etc.). The auction house picked the things up, took all the photos, did the listings, publicized it, and took care of actually running the auction. (for a % of the proceeds, of course.) I think an online auction was actually a much better way to do it, because that way they got a much larger audience of potential buyers. You could see if there's an auction company in your area somewhere that may be interested in your dad's collections.

We need to do some water proofing in the basement so need to move shelves. We realized we're not going to tent camp ever again and neither are the kids. Tent, cots, air mattress, extra bedding all sold or donated. Giant tub of Nerf guns gone. Two boxes of books that have been sitting for two years donated. DH finally tossed the box of old class notes.
Extra dining chairs that don't even match the set we have are going on the curb today. All that actually opened up 8' of wall.

DH finally tossed the box of old class notes. food Good for your DH! My (51-yr old) DH still has a box of college books in the garage that we've moved 5 different times, so far. He says that someday he might want to re-learn Calculus, just for fun...

It’s been 26 years since he worked there. We have papers from companies that don’t even exist anymore.

I sorted through my first aid tin today while I was waiting for lunch to cook and got rid of expired sunscreen and cough syrup etc. It's one of those places I just never think to clean out so I'm glad it's a little tidier.
I really need to get my butt into gear and clean out some stuff though, it's been ages since I've sorted through anything at all.

Yesterday I continued working on the extra bedroom (goal is to get it ready for my son who returns from Italy in December). I sorted through all the fabric and condensed it all into two big plastic bins. Threw out a garbage bag full, have another bag ready for donation. Moved the fabric bins and my DH's yarn bins (5 total) to the basement. Took apart and disposed of an old desk that was broken and falling apart. Packed up some kitchen stuff that I'm not sure what to do with yet. It all fit into one packing box so I'll find a place for it and if in 6 months I haven't wanted anything from it, it all goes to the donation center.
Today's going to be a much cooler day so I plan to work outside. I'll work on the garage (did a lot of work awhile ago so this will be mostly finishing and fine tuning things), get the cars cleaned out, move the canning supplies from the bedroom to the shed, get the shed tidied up, and do yard work.
Have a great day!

Today is mostly cleaning but also putting stray things in their places and moving all of DH's boxes out of the guest - he moved a bunch last weekend but didn't finish and knows that I will be moving them today and they might not be where he wants them (I'm putting in whatever empty space I can find in his hobby room).
I have a pile of flattened boxes to go to recycling tonight and I found an unused basket to corral the kitten supplies in my bathroom.

I haven't done much... but we're talking about the prospect of putting our house up for sale at some point (right now it's just a glimmer of an idea) so I'm going to buy moving boxes from Home Depot and pack up a good part of my craft room supplies, so the room doesn't look like a jam-packed tornado-hit disaster.
(plus, since I haven't been doing paper-crafting for the last 6+ months, it's a good time to pack it up... I've been focused on ONE cross-stitch project since New Year's, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.)
