congratulations to your DS on his new place amom23I emptied my scrapbooking birthday folder this weekend - made 30 cards, tossed the leftover scraps, and added the remaining stickers to the donation pile. Yay me! I need to find something to hold collection kits (scrapbooking) upright so I can flip through them and find what I'm looking for. I'll post on the scrapbooking board also.

I can really see the progress I've made in decluttering and purging. I have empty shelf space! It feels so good.
I continue to find things here and there to purge. Yesterday I went through the built-in cabinet above the TV and found an old perpetual calendar of DH's. He was happy to add it to the donate pile.
I need to make another pass through the shoes in my closet.

Puttering around today. I had a big Rubbermaid of clothes that my oldest son (now 20) had outgrown and was waiting for them to fit my next son (soon to be 13). Problem is--they have very different body types (ODS has a football body, YDS1 has a more lean body) so the clothes were way too big for YDS1. I could have saved them for a few more years for YDS2 (just turned 10) but I don't really want to hang onto them anymore. Plus I figure, we can buy new clothes when YDSs is ready and there are probably people who need clothes RIGHT NOW. So they're getting donated. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the empty bin yet--probably use it to store stuff in the shed. It'll be out of my garage, which is what I wanted.
I went through my tshirt drawer and pulled out the shirts I don't wear anymore. They are thicker than I like so feel really heavy and hot.
It's a nice cool day today so I'm going to work on the garage some more.

Last week I purged a garbage bag full from my laundry room. This afternoon I reorganized in there and purged a little bit more. The laundry room tends to be a catch all so it needs constant attention to keep it clean.

Since I work in my craft room, I've been in here all day. Every time I get up, I pick something up and sort it. Trash, recycling, donate, keep. It's amazing how much quicker things are coming together.

I cleaned the laundry room yesterday. You can actually walk in it now. I pulled out the laundry baskets and all the junk that was laying on the floor. The floor got a good scrub and all the stuff got sorted into laundry loads, the donate pile or trash. So much trash (DH might not be so happy to return from his work trip on Friday to find I tossed any sock, tshirt or pair of boxers with holes in them)😂

Good for you I have way too much and I think would get more done with less stuff. I will never have a small stash but need to seriously pare it down to a more manageable level. I could get rid of 50% and still have a lot of stuff. I have been collecting since the 90's and have purged and don't have anything left that I don't currently like but I need to get real about what I will actually use.

I keep mine in this and it’s great because it holds all of the little pieces together, even when traveling with it. And the clear is great for seeing the color scheme & theme of the collection. No need to label them either, but that doesn’t stop me Lemme go find a link for you. Here you go. I pretty sure I’ve purchased them at Michael’s and JoAnn with coupons or on sale.

Too much stuff just overwhelms me. I'm a simple scrapper and I like just having a kit to work with.

I’m with you. Love almost everything I have, but I’ll never be able to use it all. Now, am I going to actually get rid of a lot? I have plenty of room, it’s almost completely organized, and I love options even though they make decisions more difficult. So probably not. That doesn’t mean I shouldn’t! I am motivated to go in there and set a timer for 5 minutes to see what I can quickly grab and put in my donate box. Then I should turn almost completely into completely.

I tackled my linen press this morning. It was reasonably tidy but I could see there were a few things that needed to go. 15 mins was all it took to clean it out and get rid of two cat beds, two doona covers, a set of sheets, an old pillow, and two Sesame St pillowcases I've had since my childhood. I hesitated on that last one (and I'm still second guessing myself) but the reality is I never use them, don't have kids stay with us, and don't anticipate a use for them, so I'm telling myself they are better going to someone who will love them as I did.

I took all my boxes and bags to Goodwill yesterday. Well, I thought I did. I managed to leave one sitting in the entry! Oh well, it's a small box and I'll have more to go off as we get closer to moving.

jeremysgirl - amazing! It feels so good to work when everything is clean and has a place! I purged 15 GIANT garbage bags of clothes. I found someone who has a "closet" for people who need nice clothes to work and I was just thrilled. We filled his car up to the brim. It took me several weeks of evenings to sort the clothes - men/women/summer/winter and teens, but worth it. I can move around in my garage now! Today, I'm going through a ton of stuff in my girls' room. I have it all out on the bed and am just sorting. Then to the basement to finish taking pictures of arts/crafts of kids so I can throw all that away.

I am still purging in my craft room. Yesterday I decided all my rubber stamps had to go. They are mainly for cards and I hate making cards. After 10 years it's safe to say I don't use them and won't miss them. I also plan this weekend to go through my closet again. This time to purge all the short sleeve tops I haven't worn all Spring and Summer. I also need to take a hard look at my shoe collection and thin them down some again.

well done everyone!
I finally finished my 2009 Disney album so I went through the iris box of Disney and sorted into trash, donate, and keep. I donated a bunch of stickers, some paper, some ribbons, and a postbound album. I tossed a bunch of scraps and almost empty sticker sheets. I kept only a few things that I can actually see me using for Disney Springs visits or cards/non-Disney layouts (Pooh and friends - I have some toddler albums that aren't finished yet)

And I'm done...whew I worked hard. Everything is organized, dusted, mopped, clean! And everything is put away. Now I can actually try to decorate the room and bring in some more shelving. The end product is awesome! Love the yarn storage.

Love the progress, ladies!
Today i had the kids try on school uniforms that we had stashed in the closet from the shutdown.
I was able to pack two reusable grocery bags full of outgrown (but still very good, some nearly new) uniform pieces, plus another bag with three pairs of barely worn snow boots and three pairs of outgrown but still good looking black uniform shoes.
I need to call the school this week to ask when I should drop them off for their uniform sale.
And I have a list of what uniform pieces I need to order. (Lots! Kids grow an enormous amount in a year+)
I can't wait to get those bags out of the house.

I am so happy! This morning DH and I moved what we are long term storing of my mom's belongings to their permanent storage spot. Then after lunch DH and I put together the new IKEA TV stand we bought last weekend. It fits the space in the family room so much better than our old one. DS was home so he helped go through all the extra remotes, cords, Xbox & Wii games and controllers. We ended up with a 1/2 black garbage bag full of no longer needed crap. It brings me such joy to know there isn't crap stuffed into those drawers LOL!

I went through my pantry and cabinets yesterday and purged old, expired stuff. There wasn't a lot, as I am pretty careful about rotating stock. Mostly it was stuff DH used to eat that I don't care for.

I also need to take a hard look at my shoe collection and thin them down some again. As much as I have done, this one’s still needing work for me. Well, actually needing honesty from me… about which ones I’ll ever realistically wear enough again to bother to keep storing. I have no problem purging shoes that are worn and have seen their better days. But those are almost exclusively the everyday non-exciting shoes. It’s all those pretty heels that still call my name even though many haven’t been worn in, well, years now. I do definitely need some for parties, weddings, and the like. But I sure don’t need the quantities I have. And some are just the “sit and look pretty” type - don’t expect me to walk far in them! One day I’ll be in the frame of mind to let those go. Today is not that day though.
