Got rid of 40 lbs of paper yesterday Yes, I still get lots of paper - I don't like having my bills, etc. in email. So, once a year I go through and throw out the older stuff. It feels so good.

Got rid of 40 lbs of paper yesterday That's a lot of paper! It does feel good to purge them though and is like a ritual of sweeping out the old to make room for the new. I used to get paper copies of everything but made the switch to digital bills and statements about 12 years ago. Living overseas is what pushed me to do it, but I like the system I have set up now. There are certain files I do still keep as paper and will be working on this weekend. Will also be replacing all the file folders with nice, new, matching ones!

I put a pair of pants on this morning and somehow they got too short?? How did that happen? I'm sure I wore them not long ago and they were just fine, and I'm sure my 70+ year old body did not grow!! Anyhow, they are now in the get rid of pile--unfortunately! I really liked them!
Not sure I posted about when my daughter came for a visit we went through my clothes, bought new thin hangers, and those things that you can put several hangers on, then they drop down, and take up less room in the closet. I think I'm going to like them! Anyhow, we arranged my closet by color. All the red things are together, and so on! So I did do some organizing!! My ddil didn't want boxes of out of season clothes out in the barn, so now all my clothes fit in my two huge closets in my MIL suite. The only box of clothes in the barn now is my "too big" for me clothes. The way they feed me, I might need them one of these days!!

The other day I did a quick cleanout of my pantry and snack drawer in my kitchen. Today I tackled my pullout pantry in my kitchen. I tossed what needed tossing and did some rearranging using containers/baskets I already had on hand. It is looking really good. I'm off to a good start now for my eat from my pantry January goal. ****Why do they make some of the expiration dates so darn hard to read?

I'm off to a good start now for my eat from my pantry January goal. love this - what are your parameters? I'm guessing dairy and produce are still fair game for buying but not dry goods/freezer items? I do need to eat my freezer and pantry down a bit and with one less mouth to feed (and DD15 headed back to school on the 5th...she won't be eating/snacking during the day)... I put a pair of pants on this morning and somehow they got too short?? How did that happen? I'm sure I wore them not long ago and they were just fine, and I'm sure my 70+ year old body did not grow!! Anyhow, they are now in the get rid of pile--unfortunately! I really liked them! I'm sorry - maybe they shrunk in the wash/dryer? I had to toss a camisole this morning - the straps were stretched so much.

Linda - My parameters are just to make the effort to eat at home vs eating out. With just DH and I at home it's easier to go out to eat than cook a meal. We have plenty of food at home and don't need to spend the extra money eating out.

Spent today sorting presents and trying find a new home for them, which necessitates getting rid of some things. Had a couple of boxes prepped pre-Christmas to go to Goodwill, and DH took them and the handful of newly added items right to Goodwill!
Also started working on kitchen drawers. I noticed the spice drawer was overpacked during Thanksgiving and purged a few nearly empty and old bottles. Tomorrow I’m tackling the junk drawer - it’s completely overwhelmed at this point. I haven’t touched it in 2 years and apparently no one else can 🙄
I listed 20 items on eBay just before Thanksgiving and only 3 items sold from that batch. I sold 90 items in 2021 so that was a slow 6 weeks. And Facebook sales, after a decent summer, turned into endless messaging and no shows in the fall. So I’m seeing a ruthless round of purging for the “ to sell” pile coming in my future.

While I'm usually pretty good about eating from the pantry, I have gotten lazt lately.
I think part of it is the out of stocks and I don't want to use up the stash I have, or at least that is my excuse.

I found two beautiful table clothes today. I gave the dining table to one of my granddaughters, so meant to give her the tablecloths too, but somehow, they moved with me! So She is coming over tomorrow, and I will gift them to her! One of them is brand new. The other one was my favorite one ever.

Happy New Year's Eve everyone. Today will be the last day for the 2021 thread, as a new one for 2022 will be started tomorrow morning. We are currently at 40 pages (on a computer) which I never would have guessed we would get to! It's my hope that everyone met at least some of their decluttering and organizing goals this year and feel better about their homes and living spaces. I am looking forward to seeing all of you pop in during 2022, if for nothing else than to say hi and catch up. May 2022 bring you all health, happiness and completely organized and decluttered spaces!
This week I have been doing a little decluttering here and there while putting away gifts. Now I am working on the Christmas decorations. Yesterday I took down all the ornaments from the 3 table top trees. Two of the trees have been donated already, as well as one string of lights. Had to toss 3 strings of lights. Will probably store the rest of the lights until I figure out what we are doing next year. I want a single, taller tree that is pre-lit but they may be handy for other decor. I also donated one large shopping bag of miscellaneous items I've collected over the past month or so.
Today I am doing a mini-rearrange of my sewing area. The new machine is larger so I have shifted things around a bit on the built in counters and moved the Alex drawer to the right of the machine. Have had to reshuffle drawer contents as a result, although it's pretty easy since it's all in those iDesign drawer organizers. Now I am shifting the contents of three shelves in the built ins. With the new embroidery module, all the machine embroidery supplies have to come to the bottom shelf, while the shelf of decorator fabrics moves to the top. The old Bernina and Featherweight will move over one section to the one behind the door. Have already emptied the shelves so just need to put it all back together this afternoon.

Thanks for doing these threads these past few years. I never knew I had so much stuff. Moving to a smaller area has been quite a challenge. I hope this coming year I'll be able to part with a few more things. It is ok if I don't though!

Today I took down the tree, put away the decorations, and moved the furniture back where it usually goes. I cleaned out the fridge too.
Also put away Christmas wrap, bows, etc.
I love a clean start to the New Year.
