Hi Everyone,
I am the proud owner of a very ancient Tonic Studios 602 Paper Trimmer.
A couple years ago, I stocked up on blades after learning this particular paper trimmer was being discontinued.
I was wondering, would any of the other tonic replacement blades work with it? Or would I have to get a new trimmer once my last replacement blade is done?
It's going to be so hard... my tonic trimmer is my oldest scrapbooking tool - it's 17 years old, and I am so used to scrapbooking with it.
Thanks so much!

I assume this is a trimmer that uses the little cartridge slide things for cutting? Might be possible to take one apart and replace the metal blade, or at least take it out for sharpening. Odds are even if the outer plastic part is different, the little metal blade inside is the same as the newer styles. That'd be my guess anyways.
I've been thinking about trying to make a new cartridge for my own trimmer (or at least modify one) that could use more easily sourced blades, but it's a rather steep engineering problem.

Yes, it is the little replacement cartridge. I followed the advice scrappington provided, and now someone at Tonic Studios contacted me and asked for a photo of my paper trimmer. Wow... I am so impressed. And my fingers are crossed that another replacement cartridge is compatible with this trimmer... I'm just so used to scrapbooking with it I heard that you can try to sharpen the blade by cutting aluminum foil with it Embri

Eh, I'd rather break out the whetstone and do a proper sharpen than try aluminum foil. That sounds like it might (big dubious might) hone a blade, but if it's truly dull it'll need a new edge put on it, not just a honing.
I hope Tonic can help you out! Baffles me why companies don't keep the same cartridge for all their trimmers, unless it's planned obsolescence to get you to buy the new model.
