Good. It’s official now. My guess is that some “Patriots” are about to have a bad week. My question is, what did these dumbasses think would happen to a mob who destroyed federal property and caused the VP and Congress to barricade themselves into rooms? How stupid can you be? I assume they were thinking that trump would be the leader indefinitely and would protect them from prosecution.

This coup attempt was fueled by the Social Media, Reddit and the internet in general. I think it is just that those same platforms are being used against the perpetrators to identify them. There’s virtually no dark dank corner of the universe they can hide. I have no sympathy whatsoever. Same. No sympathy. I am just afraid that Trump will pardon them before he is out of office. Does anyone know if he can pardon someone who has just been arrested?

I can't think of his name at the moment but the guy that took the podium... his wife is a Dr. in Palmetto FL... her online "ratings" are off the wall crazy with people threatening her, etc. on her website. It's really pretty sad... I would like to think that she was NOT one of the ones there, and her husband was the only one in the family who's such an idiot.
I have a friend here who's DH is the stupid/crazy one. He went to DC but wasn't one of those, he wasn't even near the Capitol Bldg.

Nixon, for example, resigned before legal action was taken against him. Ford’s pardon of Nixon was technically preemptive.

That I am not certain of. But I wouldn’t put it past his cronies to get lists of names to him, or even solicit them, if that is what is necessary.

Not as powerful, CNN reported that at least 24 appeared in DC court last night.

I hope that the FBI are able to tag their files somehow so that, when companies do background checks on these scum, the information that they were one of the rioters comes up. I want their actions to follow them for the rest of their lives. The asshole who sat on Pence’s chair in the Senate chamber has issued an apology statement because “he was caught up in the moment.” If your judgment is so poor that you think that trespassing and vandalizing the Capitol Building is the right thing to do under any circumstance, maybe flipping burgers somewhere is the level of responsibility you should aspire to. Ew, no. I don't want him touching my food! I want him doing hard time in prison.

Several people I knew back from high school had posted on Facebook that they were going to DC to “stop the steal”. I deleted Facebook a few days ago so I don’t know if they actually went but there is a real big chance they did. They’ve participated in rallies and marches all last year and they are total thugs. I’ve been studying every picture posted to see if I can ID any of them.
The irony is that when we were in our late teens/early 20’s they were pot smoking hippy kids who went to the Bob Marley Festival every year and lived by the One Love creed. They were definitely misguided youth. It’s crazy how easy it is to be brainwashed from one side to the other.

I don’t share the same views as the author but thought it was a very good read. www.cnn.com/2021/01/08/opinions/jarring-video-of-black-men-cleaning-up-the-capitol-bailey/index.htmlGiven this country's racial history, it's difficult or darn near impossible not to see those decades-deep racial connections. There's something else, too, though. An abiding dignity in the work the men are doing. An illustration of their importance to the health of this country, just the latest example of how Black Americans remained steadfast throughout our history come what may. That's very much in line with how Black people survived horrific race-based chattel slavery to get a taste of freedom and how they only wanted equality, not revenge. It is how they endured a century of lynchings and Jim Crow and opposed it with a world-changing, non-violent movement. Even now, even in the face of a President who appeals to racist bigots and incited a riot in the nation's capital, a man who spent five years before he was elected smearing the country's first Black president with a bigoted conspiracy theory, that hasn't changed. Black people aren't asking for special treatment or to be given all the power. They are asking not to be unnecessarily killed by armed-agents of the state, better schools for their children, a just justice system and a fairer shot at competing for jobs and careers.

I saw on twitter a girl, LGBTQ, that was kicked out of the house by her mother and belittled for wanting to go support/march with BLM.
There was a picture from within the capitol to "id these people". She id'd her mom, aunt and uncle. She has a new (made for herself) family.

We immediately took notice of our most radical neighbors whereabouts. The ones within eyesight of our front door. The ones who still fly his flags proudly. The ones who have provoked passers-by to call the police to report them. They were all gone during that time. Of course we do not know where they were. Could have been sitting in some coffee shop having a slice of pie for all we know. We scan all photos and videos we see for their faces. Maybe they were watching their friends at the riot!

They will be charged with federal crimes right?
What about the cops who were in on this? Will they be charged too?
My gut feeling says, nothing will happen and they will all walk free and will be allowed to buy more guns

She has a new (made for herself) family. "Family" are those who care about and for you. Those who care about your well-being. Not those idiots with whom you share DNA based on intercourse.

But they sure are full of hate Republicans now. I don't follow them anymore.

And another thought. I saw someone on MSNBC, I think, who commented on the fact that they knew where certain offices were. Many congress members have problems finding offices in the building. This was well planned for, don’t you think?

If anyone ever argues about the concept of "white privilege" all you have to point to is this. Disgusting.
