I saw a friend share from this same account but haven't seen anything official from Costco. I reached out to a friend who is a manager at a store to see if she knows anything.

Would that be in Canada too? Where I live we don’t have much choice (Walmart and drugstores) and IMO Costco does the best job printing and enlargements are so inexpensive. I will be really sad if they close.

A co-worker's daughter-in-law works for Costco in the Kansas City area, and she said all the photo centers there closed ages ago -- probably close to a year or so.

I have a family member who works for Costco in Northern California. He said that yes, they are all closing--no one prints out anymore or they order online. I wonder, if they will be online only now? Or gone completely? It sounds like they will continue online.

Thanks for more information. I'm happy to hear they'll be selling them online but I completely loved picking up photos at my local store.

This happened to Sam's about 15 months ago. I really hate going to Walmart, but I need pictures now and then.

Hopefully this is just in store. Mine suck and online was cheaper/better quality so that's how I've been doing things for a long while.

I don't print many photos, but I print ALL my enlargements there! We really don't have many options in Canada and the photo centre at my local Costco is ALWAYS busy!

That’s awful! I wonder why they would close them down. I get all of my photos printed there. I love the convenience of ordering online and picking up from the warehouse. Time for a photo printer at home. I don’t want to use an online print service.

I'm glad to see that the online printing will still occur...but the reason I loved my costco centre was that it was still done using wet processing, not dry. Such a difference to the feel of prints. I don't know what the quality of the online prints will be.

I will be really sad if they close. Ours closed here back in October. It sucks bc that is where I got all my photos printed. I have tested the price and quality at other locations here in town and I refuse to pay $1.50 for a 4x6 for a somewhat decent print. Im so sad that I cant just order online and pick up at the warehouse now. The staff in the photo dept knew my pictures (that is how many I printed lol).

That’s disappointing. I got all my prints done there. I haven’t gotten any for awhile, but it’s sad news for me.

I've ordered them in person and mailed. The mailing is half the price (for 4x6) and free shipping. When you do the oversized prints you have to pay $3.99 shipping. I find the quality to be the same (better in some cases, actually).
Their mugs are favorites for the grandparents though, so I hope they don't discontinue those. I like them better than Shutterfly mugs.

I will be really sad if they close. I just found this when I went online to check: Dear Costco members, The photo department at all Costco locations will close on Sunday, February 14, 2021. The following products will remain available on CostcoPhotoCentre.ca for ship to home or business: Prints, Enlargements & Posters Photo Greeting Cards Canvas & Metal Prints Photo Books & Calendars Photo Blankets & Other Photo Gifts The following services will not be available after Sunday, February 14, 2021: Ink Refill Passport Photos Video Home Movie Transfer Service Custom framing and plaquing Sincerely, Costco Photo Centre

They will continue online though. Blacks Photography did this in Canada years ago.

For those who like photo enlargements, I second Persnickety Prints. They are fabulous!

I suppose the closing is most likely due to people not printing out their photos. I know that I will go long stretches without printing any or if I do it's at home on my own printer. My 3 kids have probably never printed an actually photo in their lives. Times sure have changed since when you would drop off your roll of film and patiently wait to pick up your photos and hope they all turned out well.

Darn, I hate to hear this, but I think it is inevitable. I use the Fuji Kiosk at my local Walmart. I’m sure the pic quality could be better, but honestly, I do mostly 3x4 prints for my PL album, and nobody really cares except me. It’s easy and cheap (currently .09 per 4x6 print) and I do the one hour prints which are usually done in 30 minutes or less, and I grocery shop while waiting. I will be sooooo bummed if they also eliminate their in-store photo services.

A little research turned up this gem for those of us that will now have to order online:
Meanwhile I intend to get some photos printed to hold me over. I will have to plan better, to have photos on hand to scrap when I'm ready.
