Thanks to you ladies I had added this printer to my Christmas list but it has been back ordered. Just received the email that it’s back in stock and will be shipping! What tips do you have for me and what extras do I need to get? This is perfect timing as I just found out that Costco is closing all photo labs in store on 2/14! Bummer! I love the matte prints I get from Costco and am wondering if I’ll be able to get matte paper for this printer. Thanks in advance!!!

I bought one as well because of this thread! I could be wrong, but the Epson photo paper is glossy only. The printer only comes with maybe 5 4x6 sheets. Go onto Epson and order more. There was a bundle where you could get an extra ink cartridge and 100 4x6's. I also ordered 5x7 paper.
I have to tell you I am completely impressed with the quality of the prints. It is amazing! You are going to love it. It was very easy to set up as well.

I love the HP soft gloss paper. I mostly buy the 4x6 packs (watch for BOGO sales at office max or staples, but I also got a great deal at Best Buy this fall too) but also got a pack of letter size to cut down to print 3x8 and 4x8.

So I can buy regular size paper? If you want to cut it down. I only do it for odd size prints and opt for the 100 packs of 4x6 when I print that size and my 3x4 ‘s.

My only tip to add, if you want smaller photos, is to use the Project Life app, or something similar, to make a collage. You can also do 2 or 4 photos to a sheet using the Epson app. The first PM 400 I got had an issue and I called customer support, went through all of their steps with them and they sent me a refurbished printer to replace mine. I did have to send mine back, at their expense, when I received the replacement. It’s been over 3 years and no issue at all with the second one. I love it!

The epson website frequently has ‘50%’ sales & free shipping. They have several levels of ‘glossy’ & semi glossy paper. But yes the extra or super premium is only glossy. I haven’t had an issue yet with any of their paper.
Ok, well, only that the presentation paper is an off white. It also works in the 400 if you cut it down but it’s not really white it’s slightly off, just barely. But I can tell if I’m using it with solar white.
Anyway I’ve bought all of my epson paper direct from epson when there’s a sale. I haven’t found it cheaper elsewhere.
The ink is another story, when I just put in a new ink I troll the internet until I find a sale on a replacement cartridge. Sometimes it’s Amazon, sometimes it’s B&H, once it was samsclub. You just have to keep your eye open. I think the cartridge it comes with is less because I’ve done better on every single cartridge after that one.

The epson app can do these thing too but you can’t save it back to your phone. Actually there’s 2 epson apps that work with it, and that’s my only ‘complaint’ is that I can’t save a collage outside of the app that I can find anyway.

I did sign up for emails for sales with Epson so thanks for the heads up!!!

One more question, does it come with a wire to connect to my laptop or is it wireless?

One more question, does it come with a wire to connect to my laptop or is it wireless? Pretty sure it did. If not, it uses just a regular printer cable.

I don't think it came with a cable. I usually print directly from my phone wirelessly. However, if I want more that one photo on a sheet I use a free app photo grid.I also use this directly from my phone.

Did you download the Epson Creative Print app? That is the one I use almost exclusively for printing. For editing before printing, I have PS Express, Filterstorm and Snapseed apps on my phone. Honestly, I mostly just edit with my iPhone editing (or Adobe Creative Cloud on my Mac...much easier on my eyes).
