3 kids plus mom all positive. One older sister who is negative so far and taking care of everyone. I’d like to do porch drop off of something. I know they had soup delivered today. Any other ideas? Something budget friendly too.
They just had two close relatives die from Covid, so they’ve been hit super hard.

I dropped off pizza to my friends.
Of course, they still can't taste everything and they definitely couldn't taste then

I bet she'd really appreciate being thought of in that way.

I’d also do food since that will be a huge burden on the one sister. Possibly frozen items like lasagna, chili, etc. Paper plates and utensils, maybe?

Can you ask them what they are up for eating? When I couldn’t taste anything, I was really limited in what I could get down. Soup and smoothies was about it, along with watermelon.

A family in my circle of friends recently had covid. They asked for soup that wasn’t chicken noodle (several other families brought that) and I also brought fruit salad. If they have bad coughs they might like some throat coat tea and honey.

I had Uber Eats deliver their favorite Starbucks & McDonalds on the porch. Pizza delivery. Dropped off cuties, books for older kids, I individual Gatorades, individual snack - cookies/chips/pretzels & bottled water. The kids really liked the ice cream bars (snickers/drumsticks/popsicles).

My brother and my best friend both just had it. I cooked a bunch of easy to reheat meals and porch dropped them. I also brought electrolyte water and fresh fruits and veggies, which are a little harder to come by through door dash and drive up/thru options. Both families said it was a big help.

My favorite foods for drop off (not necessarily Covid related) are beef stew and chicken pot pie. Neither are particularly spicy or strong flavored, so usually everyone in the family will eat them.

What made the watermelon taste okay? Just curious. It was the juiciness along with the crunchy texture. During chemo, I lost my sense of taste for 4 months. It was really hard to cope with for that long. I couldn’t handle things like bread, which is one of my big comfort foods, because it was like chewing cardboard - it made me literally gag. Anything bread-like - pancakes, pizza, muffins, etc. - were all no-go’s for me. Things that weren’t dry and that I didn’t have to chew much or hold in my mouth too long, like soup and smoothies, were easiest to get down.

i would ask what they would like. when i am sick i want anything easy to eat (that i don't have to cook) and mountain dew!
their level of sickness may dictate what they would need.
something that has not been mentioned kolaches for an easy breakfast or snack. muffins. bagels. breakfast tacos. chili or soup. i made a potato soup that people love. crackers to go with it. gatorade if they have fever. tissues if that is an issue. medicines if they need them.

Individual cups of pudding, jello, fruit, tea, and soda crackers. I ate a lot of ice cream.

A fingertip pulse oximeter? Even if they have one they have several people they may need to monitor?
Other than that, soup lots of it. And a note that you care.

Food wise, they’d probably appreciate anything.
You might ask the daughter if they have essentials such as pet food, toilet paper, and otc medications.
It’s very kind of you to do something for them.

I would also check and make sure they have a pulse oximeter and tissues too.

Puzzles, games, age-appropriate coloring books, art kits, diamond art, things to keep the kids entertained and everyone's minds busy.
Coffee, tea, cough drops, ice cream or popsicles. Gift cards for the sister to use for ordering deliveries (groceries, pharmacy, food).

When DH and I had covid the week of Thanksgiving a friend dropped off some groceries which included boxes of instant oatmeal packets and some sugar free power ade. We don't eat canned chicken noodle soup so that will be donated to a food pantry, but the other things were much appreciated.
I couldn't taste so texture was a big thing for me. I ate the heck out of ruffled chips and French onion dip because I liked the combination of crunch and creamy.
I agree to ask the daughter what she would like for a meal and maybe drop in a bag of her favorite candy, like MnMs or twizzlers etc.
Thank you for caring for your friends.
ETA: A friend from out of town had spirometers delivered, one for each of us so that we could keep our lungs strong.
Also, one of the nurses we spoke with told us that it was important to change your toothbrush both once you are sick and then again after you recover. We had several new small travel sets to use while we were sick so maybe grabbing some inexpensive toothbrushes for them.

I was surprised when our friends had COVID and I asked if there were any certain foods that they would like. She said the only thing that sounded good was sweet kids cereals and apple juice! They didn't have kids, and didn't eat like that before COVID.
I think everybody is different, so it might be a good idea to ask if there's anything that sounds really good to them.

LOL when I had covid I ate the cereal nobody liked. Cleaned out my cabinet. 😂 I figured if I can’t taste it I might as well. 🤷🏻♀️

Definitely ask them, cause everyone is so different. Our family of 5 had it. While my DH and middle Son kept their appetite a bit longer then the rest of us, we went thru Gatorade like crazy! My oldest Son who lost his sense of smell and taste and was pretty sick had literally no appetite and me and my DD could barely hold anything down so Gatorade was a staple and saltine crackers. My poor husband was still cooking for himself and DS but my MIL was dropping off homemade soups and a friend and other family members where dropping off fast food occasionally. But strangely, the one thing that tasted really good to us all, even my DH after he lost his taste and smell, was fresh fruit. It was the oddest thing. But pretty much it was a per person and how crappy we where feeling basis. Let's just say we joke that the only good thing that came out of having Covid was the amount of weight loss in the short period of time!
